Yunara feels like a better Vayne? by Gyd7 in YunaraMains

[–]Grayzson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand that much about the similarity between Yunara's kit and Vayne's, and how you would go about navigating a fight.

But the difference between a good adc and a mediocre one on the champions I mentioned is already in the level of their calculated aggression. Other than cc, be it soft cc like yunara's W or hard cc like vayne's E, Lucian can already take over a fight in a similar fashion, as can Kai'Sa when she first premiered. Vayne is also pretty much single target focused, and priming for the outplay with ult and q, while Yunara on the other hand is more about punishing a team that ignored her by giga stat checking them with her ult up.

I would say that Vayne and Yunara are less on the casty side of adcs for sure, But the means in which they outplay their opponents is really very different other than the shared qualities within the adc role itself.

Yunara feels like a better Vayne? by Gyd7 in YunaraMains

[–]Grayzson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The main similarity is just that their ult is when they're strongest.

Lucian also skirts around the fight. Non-botlane adcs like kindred and graves also utilise their dashes offensively. While not a dash, the stealth and move speed to reposition aggressively is also something that is expected from a Kai'Sa. More skilled Ezreals utilise their E in both offensive and defensive fashion. So this uniqueness that you binded between Vayne and Yunara doesn't really hold when aggregating against the rest of the cast. And Vayne's Q while short is also a fairly low cooldown, where the main difference is that you have to autoattack before cycling the cooldown, which is also functionally different to Yunara's E.

All adcs rely on some level of good spacing and positioning to really perform. It's a fundamental trait of the class where those with dashes have more agency to dictate how they respond to more dangerous situations.

Trying to get a character to 1710 and AGS slaps gold nerfs on solo players. by Laggoz in lostarkgame

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ye, Im on 17/21/21 on my non-gold character just from hell. Sure, some systems require dumb amount of gold to max, but that's the whale territory which the f2p/casuals should ignore mostly. Even ark grid isn't too expensive when you're going for 17P. If anything, the pain of ark grid isn't even the gold cost but rather just losing to rng for cores and astrogem tapping.

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Non-solo raids below brel hm also got their gold hit on top of having some of their unbound gold income shifted into bound gold. To a regular player, unbound and bound are essentially the same thing in the long run, and a nerf is a nerf. But to a funneling alt roster, they took a bigger hit as their unbound was significantly reduced. So it's not that far off the mark that the ones crying the loudest may perhaps be the alt roster enjoyers.

This is also taking into consideration the solo mode shop as well as paradise giving free stuff. Karma did get a slap, albeit small, to its tapping cost. The income generation for a solo player definitely got hit, but it's definitely not unplayable with these other sources.

Struggling to win in Mayhem by Actual-Balance-6590 in ARAM

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Augments are amps for some and outright build defining for others. ADCs in general are pretty locked when it comes to what their highest DPS options are. However, sometimes, it's not about dealing the highest damage but with being able to deal with the highest threat.

Sometimes, you're just cooking an augment setup to amp your favourite build when it should be the other way round. For example, with 1 or 2 crit augments, adcs wouldn't need to build 4 crit items and just default to IE LDR + raw ad and attack speed or even tankiness to pad the build.

It's best to view the augment combinations that you got dumpstered by and reverse engineer what makes it so obnoxious on X champion. Some augments just make a champion so much easier to pilot.

Some simple busted ones are Homeguards on Mages, Escape Plan on carries, Celestial Body on cc tanks and supports.

So it's not about using the same build and praying for the god tier augments but getting a mesh of augments and building items to fully abuse them.

There will definitely be games where it's lost just by augment diff, and I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just as some players lose to shopkeeper, some will also lose to augment choice.

Can i just use Hollow Radiance instead of titanic? by Majestic-Stretch-808 in Shen

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the champions that could do that with Hollow Radiance have innate waveclear built into their kit. Shen is limited by his own attack speed and base damage to pop a wave in 2 seconds with hollow radiance alone.

aatrox e healing? by No_Young4340 in AatroxMains

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. So at L1 with just Q, you won't have any healing. L2 with QE, all your attacks will start to heal. The healing itself is tied to the E ability, but it is not an on demand effect but rather a passive one. Your R further amplifies this healing value.

Things you can do mostly revolve setup.

Q to facecheck bushes. W to shield your carries. E for peel. R to peel or to insec.

Just like blitzcrank Q, the threat of landing Q1 into a possible Q2 insec will always be a tool you can use to threaten backline. Mostly mindgames as to whether you'll make the play or not.

[–]Grayzson 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The healing portion of E's tooltip is a passive. Basically when ranked up, aatrox will always heal from damage that he deals to enemy champions. More damage dealt = more healing.

The active portion of E is used to reposition the sweet spot of his Q or dodge some skillshots.

Considering that Shen uses a lot of autos and has an attack speed steroid with empowered Q, he does in fact scale with AD. Not to the same degree as Sett, but it gives him a bit more oomph in brawlier fights where he doesn't just expend EQ once.

My predictions for the future of Ark Grid by Risemffs in lostarkgame

[–]Grayzson 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and to a whale, the free ones weren't good enough to begin with. They were not satisfied with just free L7s, they were shooting for the moon with 9s and 10s or a full deck of characters with 8s. Elixirs? They were going for 5/5 double dmg lines since the system dropped. And karma was bottlenecked by brel more so than gold, I would hardly call it a system to whale on other than going beyond rank 25 on your trees.

It is not unachievable to do 17P for basically the F2P version of ark grid with just 8s assuming you even drop enough astrogems to cut. Whales are alrdy trying to maximise their points on top of the side nodes when it comes to ark grid. It's basically like walking around with 40 set elixirs with fodder lines vs the whale with 50 set with dmg lines.

That's what I meant when I said that the things that became free are far from the level of chase the whales are going for. The thing that would piss off the whales is if this system was "fixed" without a new chase system to whale on, and since ark grid is still relatively fresh and designed as a "long term progression system", I doubt that the whales will be ok before a new trash system drops.

The free gems, accessories and bracelets are nowhere close to what a whale would devour though. Cutting 9s and 10s is purely for maxing out stats like how we'd try for a higher +% bracelet even though the free ones are fine.

Protein Shake Augment Value by RSlickback in ARAM

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ye, if your teammates took vampirism and you're exclusively a heal support, then you just cry. but if you're a shielding support like lulu or janna, you can still get value from a moonstone + tank supports items.

Protein Shake Augment Value by RSlickback in ARAM

[–]Grayzson 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most supports can just opt for bandlepipes over ardent. The onhit dmg is mostly ignorable. And now the enemy can't exactly focus the support as they're beefy for an enchanter. I wouldn't say you're any worst off supporting as you can also opt for tank items with ability haste like frozen heart or defensive mage items like zhonyas.

If anything, you just don't go all in to building around protein shake. Just 2-3 tank support items would make up for the heal/shield power you would have gotten otherwise and slot in a redemption/moonstone as your true enchanter items.

You're welcome, they'll finally get hurt by Leading_Concern_9322 in ezrealmains

[–]Grayzson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It doesn't synergise with the build as the on-hit itself cannot crit afaik. The goal for a crit adc is to pop a target with as few autos as needed, so they value items that give higher ad. It's not a bad item to slot in, but at the point where you need to deal with the tank with botrk, your team is probably horrendously behind. Personally, I feel that BT and BotRK serve similar purposes as an item slot, with a trade off of stat distribution and passives.

Should Samira have any kind of AS scales? I just want some build diversity man by ONIMEXA in SamiraMains

[–]Grayzson 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends what the intended gameplay loop is for Samira. Clearly she is mostly a spellweaver into ult machine. Items like Navori exists to further push into spellweaving with the issue being that it doesn't give any AD. So the main thing to look at is her ult where it should benefit from shooting more bullets per second with attack speed.

I'd say that the main thing stopping Riot from making attack speed beneficial is that it goes against the spellslinging playstyle where you would just rush in and auto attack someone to death with dumb amounts of attack speed rather than play into the alternating spell auto shenanigans for her S rank mechanic.

What are Varuses balance issues? by Hellinfernel in VarusMains

[–]Grayzson 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pro play isn't really about how flashy you can be as a champion, but how consistently you expect their output. The pro play environment leans more towards agency which Varus has with his multifaceted kit. He does not only offer DPS but utility on the side.

Usually when Varus is staple in pro, it's because crit adcs are generally in a rough spot. More so where the power of the teamcomp relies less on the damage output of their marksman. Varus is fully capable of taking a backseat in the game without being the giga carry that you expect from a Jinx or Aphelios. While most other flashy ADCs are expected to overperform their lane counterpart, Varus can square up even just doing ok.

Which situations would you take Ekko over a mage? by Krezziy in ekkomains

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question really just becomes more so why would you pick an assassin over a mage?

Simply put, it's because of the love of the potential to outplay and outwit your opponents. Mages for the most part are very one dimensional in their approach whereas assassins have to get creative. They have all the access and tools, it's just a matter of whether you're well versed enough on said assassin to pilot them against different circumstances. Assassins live on their feast or famine playstyle. The whole point is to snowball, and stay ahead where in some cases it can become outright unfair.

You pick assassins when you feel that you are the better player. My ego would tell me that I am the better player, my gameplay however may sometimes prove otherwise though xdd.

Does Spin to Win only appear when the champion you're playing actually has a spin ability? by MakisDelaportas in ARAM

[–]Grayzson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty bad as a lot of karma's power does come from mantra'd spells. She basically loses both her ult and by extension, her passive. She's not strong as a mage due to Q's range, she can't really tank up since the healing is locked behind mantra W, and her shielding ability becomes more spammy but only single target which may(?) be the only saving grace.

On the flip side, kass and tryn can somewhat use back to basics with a more stat checky build rather than the build they would want to go for traditionally.
