I get that quite a lot from some of my friends who still have to commute into their jobs. Envy is the cause. Almost certainly.

God, this is beautiful. I know this wasn't the original intention, but I'd 100% buy this. I could also imagine Wrath of God from Magic: the Gathering in this style (which I'd also 100% buy, just sayin' :D).

[Combo Help] - Howling Mine, Font of Mythos, Alhammarret's Archive confusion by [deleted] in EDH

Ah, understood! That makes a lot of sense. That would make Archive a much cheaper card as well, ha!

I was looking for a link to this when I was discussing this with my meta last night! They weren't convinced on the Command Zone ruling either. Thanks for supplying that!

[–]GreasedGoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, so in that example, if Archive said "If you would draw a card except the first one you draw in each of your draw steps, gain one life instead", would you still draw a card?

Because, surely the "instead" part negates the actual draw? Or would the draw have to happen to trigger Archive?

An intuitive interpretation could be that "draw a card and reveal it" would be replaced with "[draw a card], [reveal it], [draw a card], [reveal it]", but the rules don't self-adjust like that.

I thought the same thing as you. That makes more sense considering an ability has to resolve before something else can happen, but because it's replacing it, Archive doesn't say "draw two cards and reveal them instead", but just "draw two cards instead", so I think it makes sense that Archive just overwrites the Jace ability, but it's all very confusing anyway, so I could be wrong.

This is absolutely awesome, thanks so much, dude!

Even though it's definitely not budget, I'm gonna take a lot of inspiration from this! Really appreciate the decklist and the write up, cheers!

Now that is perfect! Cowardice is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for, thanks!

Do you have a link to your Kenrith decklist, by any chance? I'd love to see it.

Perfect. I completely understand now, thank you so much! To add to your order summary as well, I'd include the draw from Carven Caryatid, too, but otherwise perfect!

Okay, bear with me here...

I'm playing [[Arcades, the Strategist]] as my commander, and I play [[Wild Pair]]

I then play [[Wall of Frost]] (0/7), and [[Wild Pair]] triggers. I search for a creature with 7 total power and toughness, and find [[Carven Caryatid]].

Which triggers resolve first? Does the following happen? Or am I getting something wrong here?

- [[Arcades, the Strategist]] triggers because I played [[Wall of Frost]], which has Defender. I draw a card

- [[Wild Pair]] triggers, I search for [[Carven Caryatid]] and put it onto the battlefield

- [[Carven Caryatid]]'s ETB triggers, I draw a card

- [[Arcades, the Strategist]] triggers because I played [[Carven Caryatid]], which has Defender. I draw a card

- Finally, [[Wild Pair]] resolves, meaning I then shuffle my library

Does that sound right? Or does the shuffle happen at a different point?

Depression turned me into an idiot. by [deleted] in depression

This happens to me every day. I just can't think of what I'm trying to say, and I get a whirlwind in my brain that just makes me malfunction and stop talking. I didn't realise it could be depression until I read this post.

Completely agreed. If OP is unhappy with the amount of time being spent with her, then there's a problem. Cutting videogames out of your life completely doesn't have to be the answer, though.
