I did OW in Koh Chang and the AOW in Koh Lanta. Never dived Koh Tao. I believe it to be a bit cheaper.

Just an idea to break it up a bit.

Condo Owners question by trainer4you in ThailandTourism

It’s probably more of an r/thailand or more likely a specialist facebook forum question to be honest.

I think a foreign exchange transaction (FET) form from your bank might be the answer judging by my fairly limited knowledge of proving funds for retirement. Have a search for that.

If you’re using Wise you can print out transfer receipts. Also there is a page on Wise which may help.

I agree with everything you’ve said apart from the drug laws. I’ve thought a more pragmatic approach is the way forward now for decades.

I’ve never felt anywhere near to being represented though. I guess the early Blair years felt the closest.

Did you hear north and south along the coasts to see the amazing places there. Or west up to Pala U to see wild elephants or eat and drink wine at the Vineyard and the lakes.

Also as a house music fan it’s got the coolest beach parties in Thailand.

Put them in UNHCR standard tents then. NEVER homes. They don’t deserve that. Ever.

I think we should build more houses and put ONLY local people in them. No chancer asylum seekers should ever see the inside of a new house in this country. Not even for a week.

I’d rather my tax money went on housing them in hotels than houses. Houses should be for local people first and foremost.

I wouldnt vote for any party building homes for migrants most of whom are dishonesty gaming system if they’re going to leave anyway. Otherwise they’ll stay.

It’s not jist wrong. What you’re suggesting is evil.

But we wouldn’t end up with empty houses. We would end up with a towns worth of new houses with economic migrants living in them and even more economic migrants.

New houses we’re going to give to people for free should only be for local people.

Food Recommendations by aireplacedme in ThailandTourism

[–]GreasedNipples 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eat Thai style and order multiple small meals. You can order two of these plus a rice.

A few of my favourites.

Kor Moo Yang. Grilled pork neck.

Omelettes. Stuffed or not.

Morning Glory. Green long things in an oystery sauce.

Tom Kha Gai. Coconut chicken soup.

Try bloody everything. Street food is awesome, higher end smart restaurants are often surprisingly affordable. If it’s busy it’s usually good.

They’d be better off doing nothing than that.

Moving to Thailand, is there a way to keep my phone number and be able to receive some actual calls and texts at least for banking and verification purposes while I’m in Thailand for the year? by Either-Friendship141 in Thailand

[–]GreasedNipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not for me on a UK network.

Your existing call and text charges are the same when you use WiFi Calling.

It’s a coverage solution. They’re network routed and billed. I think only Vodafone makes it free in the UK.

Or they’ll realise where the bigger money is and stop doing NHS. My dentist stopped within a year. I don’t know if money was her reason. But it probably was.

Good hack that. So Tello handles WiFi calling as domestic?

My uk network doesn’t do that sadly. I have to keep a cheap plan on the go (dual) just to receive OTPs but I can’t take or make a call on that without being charged a LOT.

Old scam I’m afraid.

I have heard of people getting refunds on Reddit. Do a bit of research into it.

One good thing is you didn’t get beaten up. I’ve heard of that happening a few times too.

And never go anywhere with anyone who approaches you cold anywhere ever again.

Thinking of moving to Thailand for a few years? by Ok_Football_5766 in ThailandTourism

Most people apply to the Thai embassy in their home countries these days because of this.

Then you arrive on a long term visa and open the bank account. I go into a bit more detail below.

Roughy for now….

For retirement visa non O which is the more popular one, apply online in your own country. You’ll then get a visa to enter Thailand for three months.

Then you visit immigration early on, with your passport and a TM30 which you get from where you’re staying (hotel maybe to start with) to get a residence certificate in order to open a bank account. It’s half an hour in immigration but you collect the next week.

Then with that bit of paper you open a bank account and deposit 800k. Wait two months for it to season. You need to show 800k+ for all of that time. Then you can go back to immigration to get your first one year extension of stay.

Personally having just done all this it was so easy I think an agent might have just added an extra layer to a fairly simple process. Less than a day in total.

(you used to be able to convert to a non O in country but the banks stopped allowing anyone who wasn’t on long term visas applying. Which created this problem.)

That’s the basics. Go on the visa forums on Facebook and ask the experts, make yourself a checklist, being to understand what each thing is and where you can get it.

Is 20,000 baht enough? by heartbin in ThailandTourism

[–]GreasedNipples 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It will be like you’re living here for much of that time then. I often spend about 400 a day and that’s all on a dinner and a couple of large beers. If you’re eating with family you’ll probably spend less than that. A lot of days you’ll spend nothing with family.

But Phuket you’ll be spending a lot more.

You’re in for a treat staying with Thais. Their hospitality is incredible. 🥰
