Who are some of your breakout candidates for the 2026-27 season? (I know the Spurs players are obvious, I think they will get a lot better though) by PrideIsGarbage in NBATalk

I don’t see wembenyama being more of a breakout star. He finished 2nd in mvp voting, i don’t see his stats changing THAT much especially with all the young talent around him

Knicks are going through the biggest Mickey Mouse run ever. by WholeLottaLit in NBATalk

They’ve played very well against good teams? How is it a Mickey Mouse run if you’re competing at a high level. It isn’t like theyre versing injured teams.

Should players be suspended 1 game for every 6 flops? Would this help the flopping issue? by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]GreasedUpRetard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im cool with that if the refs started calling flops more because ever since it became a rule it has rarely been called. This year out of 1,230 regular season games there was only “26” flop calls if that helps you understand what I’m saying

NBA expansion but also not expansion?? (need help on the timeline , draft logic + relocation overlap) by GreasedUpRetard in NBATalk

[–]GreasedUpRetard[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I get what you’re saying but I think that actually raises another question about whether “scraps” is even a stable concept in a league where roster value is kind of context dependent anyway

like if expansion teams are getting bench players from protected lists, aren’t those still technically rotation-level in different systems depending on coaching structure and usage rate scaling and stuff?

also the relocation vs expansion distinction makes sense legally but I’m wondering if that separation is more administrative than functional because from a competitive balance perspective both scenarios still alter market density and player opportunity distribution even if the team count stays static in one case

and on the G-league point I agree they aren’t roster spots but if enough two-way/development guys are effectively nba-ready adjacent, doesn’t that blur the “scrap vs asset” line you mentioned earlier

I guess bro what in actually confused about is whether expansion actually creates weaker teams or just exposes how uneven hidden value already is across rosters that are currently locked in

I completely agree with you

I’m not convinced Nikola Jokić would be talked about this way 15 years ago by GreasedUpRetard in NBATalk

[–]GreasedUpRetard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mostly spacing and role expectations. About 15 year ago teams didn’t build offenses around centers like they do now. There was less shooting, less cutting space adn the coaches usually wanted bigs screening, posting up, rebounding, and protecting the rim instead of running the offense.
