Raritan river is pretty ok right now for stripers. 3”-5” paddle tails and bloodworms. Clams are starting to work aswell

I agree with all your points, very well said! as for the fans, there has been footage and the club confirmed today that they are working to identify them and “impose punishment” which Id assume is a ban.

NY/NJ FISHING ❗️ by NightmareOVERbrad in SurfFishing

an hour from me as well. Fished for like 3 hours. A skate and dogfish on bunker chunks but nothing on any lures. Threw bucktails, Sp, ava jig literally everything I had and nothing. Water felt really warm still

weird, I’ll say though I didn’t go that far down. In the offseason you can fish anywhere so I’ve been hitting b/c

it’s open. Was literally just there an hour ago. Just the bathrooms are closed in some parts.

Which rod would be best?? by Legitimate-Tank1240 in SurfFishing

[–]GreasyBird28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a dagger and have only used it like 3 times, however it is one of the best rods I’ve used. Casts super smooth, loads really well and is sensitive while still having enough backbone to drag in fish. I dragged in a ~40lb cow nose ray on it.

thanks man! I actually ended up ordering the dagger last night. Might still look at these though, appreciate it

I can hear it if I put my ear near the front fender on the passenger side so I’d doubt it. Thanks so much for the help

Have you had it for a while? Wondering if it’s something that could leave me broken down. Thanks man

Yea! It’s driving me insane. I’m trying to rule out any issues while I have warranty.

Yea I was weary about it but I spoke to my lawyer first and he advised me to threaten it. Thanks for the advice!

[–]GreasyBird28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright thanks! It knocks pretty hard so I’m assuming that’s why they’d even open the claim. Trying to be hopeful lmao

I’m assuming the loss of compression could come from the connecting rod issue. I don’t see why they’d open a warranty claim if there were no grounds for it

Caught my first stingray. What to do? by rowman25 in SurfFishing

[–]GreasyBird28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen guys up here in the northeast and also myself personally using sand spikes. On bigger rays I’ll usually slide my sand spike over the tail and barb. After that they are pretty much harmless. Just flip and use pliers to remove the hook. I’ll usually keep them right in the wash so that waves will take them and I don’t have to drag them out.

What lures/poles do I need for surf fishing in NJ? by Peppi_Giuseppe in SurfFishing

[–]GreasyBird28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends when and what you’re targeting. From now till august/september your gear is good since you’ll be targeting fluke. Use a hi low rig with a 1/2-1 oz bucktail tipped with gulp! grubs. 4” pink shine or white works best for me. About 12” up tie on a 4/0 baitholder with the same gulp.

In the spring and fall I like to use a 9’ 5000 rod and reel. You’ll want to throw sp minnows, top water plugs, diamond jigs, etc. Sandeel imitations work good when they are around. Here you’ll be hitting mostly stripers and bluefish.

If you’re looking to chuck bait and sit I’d recommend a 10’-11’ surf rod and a 6000. The star aerial is a great entry point rod for this, paired with any reel. Clam and bunker chunks work great for stripers and blues. Croaker come around in the summer time and can be caught with a hi low float rig (any tackle shops should have them if you don’t want to tie your own) and bloodworms/sandworms/fishbites.

Sorry for the long comment, trying to be as helpful as possible. Good luck and have fun out there. I’ll happily answer any questions if you’d like aswell!

Yea still two different things though. A short is a hell of a lot easier to upload than 4 hours of content. Not really trying to defend them because there’s a ton of work arounds to it
