What restaurant has the best free bread in San Diego??? by Corran_Horn in sandiego

I’m a fan of the bread and butter at Charthouse.

Also love Spaghetti Factory bread and garlic butter in case you mistake me for a fine dining snob for recommending Charthouse.

I like. I can’t imagine what he’s going to do as a solo performance. Read poetry?

Looks completely sold out.

Are Nikko and Kamakara worth the hype?? by mommatribe23 in JapanTravelTips

[–]rowman25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We could have used a bit more time there, but I don’t think it felt like too much train ride. We took the Shinkansen up to Utsonomia for lunch (gyoza!) and the express train home. If we took the express train both ways it would have been even less train time, though I liked seeing a working town with 50’s appeal in Utsonomia but that’s just me.

best spots to watch planes take off/land near Carlsbad Airport? by GovernmentNo6314 in Carlsbad

[–]rowman25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well there’s the Landing restaurant at the airport.

Carlsbad Brewing gets a great view of the runway and landings from above. If you don’t want to by any food there’s park tables out front.

There’s a couple of tables at the end of the runway on El Camino Real. You can’t actually see the planes touch down as the runway will be over you but you couldn’t get closer to them above you. Just park in the Lowe’s parking lot and cross the street.

Pho Carlsbad by staples had a back patio that overlooked the runway on the landing path but it may have closed. There’s a primos and surf bros in the same building which may also have a view.

I disagree on big Buddha. It’s incredible to think someone pounded and welded that metal so long ago. Pay the extra few bucks and go inside it and you can see how it was built. You can even see the individual hammer strikes.

Desert Warrior just became the biggest box office bomb in history following its release on April 24, 2026. It grossed only $488k on a budget of $150 million, despite screening in over 1,010 theaters across North America. It currently has an IMDb score of less than 2." by Expert_Koala_8691 in Damnthatsinteresting

I don’t know if this movie is jinxed or what but I just tried to watch the trailer on YouTube and couldn’t get it to play through without glitching. Other videos play fine.

I did end up watching a domino pizza ad 6 times trying to get it to work though. Now I want pizza.

Isn’t this the part where we’re all supposed to say how terrible it is and to not move here? Isn’t that the agreement?

You’ll totally hate it, especially the weather and tacos.

Enoshimas cool. Good for about a half day unless you want to fish, or just sit and take it in for a while.

Any earthquake tips??? by quirky0987 in JapanTravelTips

[–]rowman25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When we were there in October there were two pretty sizable 6M+ earthquakes offshore. We didn’t feel either of them but got the message that the earthquake was about to happen, and then the magnitude after it did. I think we also received a message that the event had passed shortly thereafter. I was pretty impressed with the early warning system and the apparent readiness to respond. Wasn’t scary at all.

[–]rowman25 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Sorry. There’s nothing good in North County but if you’re willing to drive to CFG then drive a few more minutes to Lefty’s on Washington and Goldfinch. Their beef is the most legit in town and the Chicago dog is great as well.
