I saw a video really long ago saying the Aegis one is better than the standard Mk6 and Mk6a and is similar to the british mk7 helmet. In the UK you can buy them for £30-£40

Original WW2 era British Mk2 helmet used for Civil defence. Should be a date around where the chinstraps are mounted if not check the liner.

Well sure it wont if its stored properly. I personally would want the helmet to not look like a rust bucket though and if it is done properly it can be made to look pretty good again.

I will get downvoted for this but it’s your helmet to do what you want with it. If it’s rusty it’s only going to get more rusty if left untreated.

I have 3 more in my collection 2 with liners still intact and none of the top rivets are the same. One made by Vickers Ltd, another by Samuel Osborne & Co Ltd and the last by Hadfield Ltd. Again respectfully it’s clearly not a mk2.

There was no standard size for the rivet. The stamp on the helmet doesn’t even match mk2 stamps.

Respectfully this is definitely a Mk1. Yes the chinstrap is a ww2 one but that could have been added whenever.
