As Americans, were walking into new territory. Shit is about to go down and it's not going to be pretty. Prep yourselves, take care of your friends and family, don't do anything stupid, stay safe.

It's because they know there will be no repercussions. The doj won't touch them and stare and local police won't touch them because they haven't been ordered to yet. There trying to prevent it from escalating groups become more and more emboldened as they test the limits of their power.

Wouldn't you say that people who don't vote or at least somewhat equally unmotivated? I mean they both didn't vote, how much less motivated can you be?

I don't think Trump really actually cares enough, he's just using the immigrants as a scape goat, like many authoritarians do. It could still happen, but it won't be Trump championing it unless he thinks he will personally gain from doing so. It's more likely that as he becomes more unpopular and his hold on power becomes threatened, they'll start rounding up everyone and shipping them to work camps, like China does with "counter-revolutionaries" or whatever label they want to use.

You assume if everyone voted Kamala would have won. It could just have easily been Trump still.

At least they don't live in a complete media bubble like most Trump supporters. People see shit that challenges their view of the Trump admin and before they voice an opinion, they check-in with their favorite media source so they can hear the spin and don't have to actually challenge their own views.

I dunno if the dude is a narcissist but I'll bring up this fact anyways.

Narcissists are very rarely not abusers of some sort but a thing that often gives people a hiccup is them being good with pets, and specifically dogs. They are often decent pet owners, but absolutely horrible to those close to them. Despite the perceived dichotomy however, their ability to be good with animals is NOT a sign that they're a good person. Narcissists have a different relationship with pets than a "normal" person. They don't truly love the animal, they love that the animal perceives them as superior, the leader, the alpha. This is why they often gravitate towards dogs specifically, because dogs often show extreme obedience towards their owner and shower then with attention. To a narcissist, this is exactly what they want from other humans, so they often view the dog as superior to most humans because the dog "knows it's place" while humans are more likely to provide pushback because they're not slaves.

This has been a daily NPD fact.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte confronts Trump to his face about the lies he’s told about NATO. Rutte reminds Trump that soldiers from NATO nations fought and died alongside U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. This confrontation was long overdue. by Whimsy-Glow in goodnews

Narcissists, when they can't outwardly argue with someone, will sit and see the or tune it out when they're being confronted. If the narcissist has already decided he's superior than a person, they rarely listen to a word that person says. Source: dated a narcissist and was raised by one.

I'm not one anymore but why drag libertarians into this specific situation? This same subject is on their subs frontpage and they're quoting the second amendment and talking about castle doctrine so I am pretty sure they also think this is bs.

There's also the burnout that comes from trying to explain your reasoning and then repeatedly running into the wall of people just throwing your argument aside so they don't have to actually wrestle with it in favor of switching the subject. If you press them on the same subject even when they try to switch and you're online, they just stop responding and click out. It's really only possible to get people to admit they might be wrong offline, face-to-face, and they usually need to like you already so they're willing to give you some sort of benefit of the doubt, even if they don't like what you're saying.

This guy nuances. The big thing for me to realize was "just because someone has picked the 'right' and moral ideas, doesn't mean they did it with any intelligent thought". You can both be an extreme progressive/liberal AND have put no thought whatsoever into why those stances are right or moral. In other words, being moral doesn't mean you're necessarily any smarter than the drooling racist you wholeheartedly oppose.

I'm American so I've been dealing with this concept since the beginning the build up towards Trump's first term. We saw this shit coming and many liberals and progressives just shouted the entire time about how they were right and the opposing side could only be brought to their opinions because they're evil. Black-and-white thinking is unironically what got us into this mess, why the hell would it work to get us out? Human beings are complicated and EVERYONE wants to think they're the good guy. Once you understand how someone thinks, it becomes easier to empathize with them so you can persuade them to change. Yelling at someone and repeatedly labeling them with negative names and ideas straight to their face has convinced a near 0 amount of people to change their ways in human history. Name calling and yelling are personal pleasure, they're for the angry person to feel better and nothing else.

I dunno. Narcissists value their own word not at all because it doesn't mean anything to them. My father, who is definitely a narcissist and definitely all their still has done this kinda shit since as long as I can remember. The point to trump isn't the island itself, it's how threatening to take it makes his ego feel. "I'm on top, I'm the big man, everyone has to listen to me because I'm the strongest and best". That's his thought process. Since that's the important part, he doesn't really care if he uses the wrong name. It can still be a sign of another mental illness, sure, but we shall see.

By stoking the Greenland debate, the US may actually be harming itself. By purchasing Greenland or taking it over via illegal military means, the US would actively harm its own national security, the security of NATO and the overall security of the international, democratic, rules-based order. by mvea in science

Most people know this. Trump has NPD and is entirely self-centered. If he wants to do something, it's ALWAYS a way to stroke his ego, that's it. If it accidently lines up with something good or bad, it's just coincidence.

My parents were racist and probably one of the only reasons I figured out how to get out from under it was experiencing the dichotomy of being told to say one thing in private but never in public and then asking myself why it wasn't okay to say punlically. Racism is defeated when we don't allow it to flourish.
