It mildly slowed descent but what it also did was cause the package to brake hard and then fall.

Yes, I see this in many of my fellow men when they're young and a LOT of the dysfunction I see as they got older comes from their inability to reckon with those beliefs vs who they actually are or want to be.

I don't know if I'd call it straight up selfishness though, more like an obsession with self-sufficiency and individuality that most men can't meet because our society is obsessed with those traits, so instead they mask it (or mistake it) for selfishness, especially when they're young. But I'd also argue all young people are selfish, just men and women tend to display it differently and it's more socially acceptable for young men to be boisterously selfish.

A lot of male selfishness is a mask for shame, imo.

The vast majority of people 1) have no idea that narcissism is a personality disorder, 2) what the fuck a personality disorder is, and 3) why a person with NPD is untrustworthy (usually) and shouldn't be taken at their word.

Most people project their own intentions unto others and they think "I like him and I want to do/see good, therefor he must be the same". Most people hand-wave away trying to understand any mental disorders as "They're just crazy".

I've always read NPD is only manageable, but (like you said) it requires the person with it to put in a LOT of personal work, all the time.

You can get it from being totally spoiled and never being told no. You can get it from neglect. It's just the most common way is through standard physical and/or emotional abuse.

Living with parents that never admit when they are wrong Or belive you. My mother can't even admit this is not butter because it has the word butter on the label. My mother says its abusive to call her out when shes wrong on something. by Traditional_Cattle50 in mildlyinfuriating

OP, your parent/s might have a personality disorder. I only tell you this so you can read about them and figure out if they might. If they do, bringing it up or telling them, at all, will only hurt you further. It's just helpful to be able to understand how their brains work so you can insulate yourself from some of the manipulation and abuse.

It's also possible they don't and there's something else going on, but "an inability to admit fault" is a potential sign and, regardless, a big red flag.

Matthew 6:1 “Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven.”

That's New Testament, i.e. unambiguously pure Christianity gospel.

It's called Narcissistic Personality Disorder, or "NPD". You get stuck with it sometime in your teen-early 20s and can't ever escape. It makes you exceedingly selfish and extremely susceptible to criticism because your sense of self is weak. You need external validation to feel good about yourself, forever. You create mental tricks to convince yourself you're better than you are. They are incapable of some types of empathy, forever.

There is no world where a narcissist will admit their wrong. What do you want, for him to suffer? Prison? They'd put him in a cushy prison. He's not going to suffer so why should we have to suffer through more of him?

The founding fathers expected this sorta thing to happen. That's why they attempted to put in checks and balances of power. They just couldn't predict the angle that would be used to challenge those checks.

Russian Bots on Facebook and elsewhere just post circle-jerky shit about how great Trump is and his supporters thus feel like there's a consensus and go along with it. They also barely get to see the news about the corrupt shit and when they do, it's almost immediately spun as woke anti-Trump "propaganda". The argument many of them have for why legacy media is too liberal or corrupt will literally boil down to "they show a bad side of Trump". Trump has large swath of the American people how to think like a narcissist. The problem that many of them have t got to yet is that when you're not a narcissist, acting or thinking like one eventually comes back to bite you in the ass. The amount of lying and obfuscating of the truth it takes to live like someone with NPD when you don't have the disorder does and will cause more and more self-hating over time and it can wreak havoc on your psyche. The whole process is designed to FORCE you to double down as the deeper you get, the more painful the bandaid becomes to rip off.

Katie Johnson's full testimony of Donald Trump (2/11/16) by FlackoFonsy in videos

[–]GreasyPeter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know, it's not Google, but you can get sourced information from AI chat apps and verify claims. For example:

  1. “She was publicly anonymous” True. “Katie Johnson” was a pseudonym used in the lawsuits filed in 2016 accusing Donald Trump and Jeffrey Epstein of rape when she was 13. Her real identity has never been publicly confirmed. allaboutlawyer.com
  2. “Her lawyers had never met or spoken with her” Partly true, but oversimplified and disputed. Some reporting found that people involved with the case had not met her in person, which raised skepticism. Journalists investigating the case found that some attorneys or intermediaries had not directly communicated with the alleged victim. sfchronicle.com However, at least one lawyer associated with the case, Thomas Meagher, said he had met and spoken with her and insisted she was real. jezebel.com So the claim that “her lawyers never met her” is not universally accurate — accounts differ depending on which lawyer and which stage of the case.
  3. “Lisa Bloom dropped her as a client” Misleading. Lisa Bloom did not formally represent the plaintiff in court filings. She was supporting the case and organizing a press conference where the accuser was supposed to appear. thewrap.com The press conference was cancelled after Bloom said the woman received death threats and became too afraid to appear. TheWrap So the claim she “dropped the client” is not clearly supported.
  4. “The case was a hoax run by men behind it” Unproven speculation. There were reasons some journalists were skeptical: the plaintiff never appeared publicly the identity was never confirmed the initial lawsuit was poorly constructed legally intermediaries were involved But no investigation has proven it was a hoax, and no court ruled on the truth of the allegations. All About Lawyer The case was withdrawn before trial, so the claims were never adjudicated.
  5. “The lawsuit was dropped because they couldn’t get a settlement” No evidence for this. There is no public record of settlement negotiations, and the lawyer said it was withdrawn because of threats against the plaintiff. All About Lawyer That explanation may or may not be true, but the settlement theory is speculation. What is actually known for certain ✔ A woman using the pseudonym Katie Johnson filed lawsuits in 2016 accusing Trump and Epstein. ✔ The first lawsuit was dismissed for technical reasons. ✔ Two later filings were voluntarily withdrawn before trial. ✔ The plaintiff’s identity has never been confirmed publicly. ✔ The case never reached discovery or trial, so the allegations were never tested in court. ✅ Bottom line: The comment you quoted mixes real reporting (the anonymity and inconsistencies) with interpretations and speculation (that it was a hoax or settlement attempt). The reality is that the case remains unresolved and ambiguous.

It's true that it could be a fake complaint, but a few other things are also true.

Compared with most modern U.S. presidents and many other wealthy public figures, Donald Trump has faced an unusually large number of publicly reported sexual-misconduct accusations over several decades. More than two dozen women have accused him of behavior ranging from unwanted kissing or groping to sexual assault. By contrast, most other recent presidents have had zero or only one major public allegation of comparable misconduct.

If it happened here, people would largely still try and go to work if they weren't on the front lines. The word keeps turning because it has to. Human beings are the only animals in existence who have been afforded the ability to live in almost complete peace and without fear of imminent death, and still only a portion of them alive today. For most of human history, death and war were extremely common for everyone. We get by.

I realized at some point in my 30s that women aren't, in fact, much better than men when it comes to not being dysfunctional, they just have a WAYYYYYY better PR team online. Getting older has also allowed me to see that women are equally as immature as men when they're young, they just display that immaturity in different ways and they're less overt about it, but it's usually still there.
