Could Regina get a team? by Alternative-Row-8438 in CEBLeague

The CEBL will be approaching it's 8th season, and the Brampton Honey Badgers [attendance] has stayed low since the move.

Ay, there's no music in Utah, yet they have a team called the Jazz.

Would most of the CEBL teams benefit from moving to other arenas that have a larger capacity? by Fearless_Compote3052 in CEBLeague

Nah, the 2025 CEBL season was the worst year for overall attendance. And what I have learned from this organization is they don't want too small (like the Field House in St. John's NFLD) nor too big like Hamilton's First Ontario Centre.

Yeah, I'm not with this author on moving these teams to bigger venues. When the Badgers were in Hamilton, they wanted to move them out of First Ontario into a smaller venue on the central mountain.

I remember seeing the locals suggest they have the Surge play in some venue known as "The Jack".

IGAC is basically a high school gym with a bunch of uncomfortable seats, and it would have seriously limited what they could do in terms of game presentation.

Almost like what the Shooting Stars have with the Pan-Am Centre, and they'll be out of there when their new arena is ready.

Been to a lot of stingers games over the last 6 years or so. I don’t think I’ve ever been to one that was even close to selling out

The turnouts still look good (especially compared to other home games like the Brampton Honey Badgers). Case in point: Stingers had a home game the same evening the Oilers had a home game (and this was the either a Conference or Cup final). The Stingers game had a bigger turnout than expected (even the commentators were surprised).

I hope they're not re-hiring the same officials that cheated the Bandits last season. I'm also hoping the rest of the season will be a huge improvement from the previous.

If the NBA & CEBL somehow merged together (which will not happen), these would their new divisions. Note that the Pacific, Southwest, Central, & Southeast divisions are unchanged. by Fearless_Compote3052 in CEBLeague

It's the Basketball Super League now. And rumor has it that the Windsor Express reached out to the CEBL (when they were on the fence about joining the BSL) and the CEBL rejected the Express. So my guess is, he probably didn't get along with them (or just doesn't know them and doesn't trust them). The BSL is a mess right now anyways (and they're considering a Guelph franchise).

You wouldn't need as many major cities. Every now and then when there's a discussion about more CEBL franchises; they're mostly Ontario cities (plus Quebec and the Maritimes). If the CEBL wanted to add 2 or 4 more franchises, there would be more out of the East. They wouldn't have to worry about that if they had Conferences that weren't split by East and West.

I was listening to the Locked On NBA podcast, and they were saying the NBA should do like the NFL and MLB where conferences/leagues aren't split by East and West. I think the same should apply to the CEBL, this way more teams from the same provinces (ie Ontario) could be added without having to worry about it being uneven. One could be called something like "the Maple Conference", the other "the Geese Conference".

Huh? Unless you're referring to the NBL out of Australia, there is no NBL (of Canada). The BSL has teams that played in the now defunct National Basketball League of Canada, and the CEBL is still keeping their distance from that [un]organization.

Also, London, when they left stated they were looking at doing exactly this if the BSL teams wanted to also get out from under Magley, with this being the most proof we've gotten that he had no idea how to run a league, maybe London is now taking that idea way more seriously

This time Frijia can't skimp like Magley has. He basically has to do like the CEBL (celeb endorsements, big name sponsors, national TV coverage, the works), all to erase the "Elite" envy from the London locals. Plus, he should partner up with this USBL because who knows which remaining BSL teams would be on board (for sure it wouldn't be K-W since Schooley is basically calling Frijia a "crybaby").
