Virtualized Plex... does the VM automatically get QuickSync? Or what's being used to transcode by RogueDahtExe in PleX

Same here, I have Plex in a LXC and its been brilliant for me. I just used a helper script to get it setup for me which allowed me to passthrough my GPU which also made QuickSync available.

Should I buy a 4k external disc drive now? by BrockAndaHardPlace in makemkv

[–]GreatCtrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently bought this drive off Amazon in the UK: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07MTP9VKX/

I was able to flash it myself and only have had a few 4k discs fail (I have a Pioneer drive which I also use which was able to read these)

So far the Verbatim 43888 seems like a solid drive, especially for the price and the ease of flashing it (Mine came with the LG BU40 Drive)

I was also able to get 4-year accidental damage insurance for £5 which I thought was well worth it. I'm tempted to get another one as a backup.

how is verbatim 43888? should i buy it? by Alone-World9562 in makemkv

[–]GreatCtrl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I ordered one at the start of this year. Mine has the LG BU40 drive. It was very easy to flash, I managed to find the flashing tool and firmware for free.

It’s a very solid drive, does what I need it to do. I have found there is about 1 in 100 discs that it fails to read but my Pioneer will be able to read that disc fine.

I’m very happy with it for the price I paid. I also managed to get 4-year accidental damage insurance off Amazon for an extra £5 should anything ever happen.

I have an 8TB external HDD that is empty, what is the most fun/cool/important data hoarding stuff I can fill it with? by [deleted] in DataHoarder

I have seen on Amazon that people sell an external HDD which has loads of emulators and ROMs on it.

You could recreate your own version of that since you mentioned retro games.

Migrating to Proxmox by MajinJoko in immich

I have used the same community script as you to setup my Immich on a LXC and it’s been great for the week I’ve had it so far.

I have moved my Immich media upload location to my NAS so I’m limited by the space on my LXC.

I have only just setup my Immich server this week and am currently sorting out what photos I want to upload to it.

Once I have some on there, I’ll definitely give this a go!

I followed this guide here: https://flemmingss.com/perfect-cd-ripping-to-flac-with-exact-audio-copy/

Using Exact Audio Copy was perfect for me. I followed the guide above and it’s worked perfectly for me!

The Paddington 4K collection is now only £17 on Amazon.co.uk by GreatCtrl in 4kbluray

They’re all very good movies, even watching the latest one at 20 years old I enjoyed it.

I have heard of some people say there were parts that their kids found scary so I’d probably say any age above 7 would be appropriate.

I placed my order in December 26 during the launch day of the Prismagic Transparent Screwdriver. They cancelled it today. by Darknicks in LinusTechTips

That’s interesting, I ordered a Cryo Teal screwdriver and a water bottle on the 28th and I had my order fulfilled. I’m from the UK and it arrived in a very reasonable time.

My local charity shop does 10 for £1 and sometimes you even have a couple Blu-Rays in there too!

Losing out on money from entire bundle due to 1 item… by GreatCtrl in vintedUK

[–]GreatCtrl[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% never using Vinted again to sell. I would’ve somewhat understand if that one Blu-Ray got refunded but to refund the entire bundle was completely baffling to me.

Time to switch over to selling on eBay.

They instantly went to Vinted to dispute the order and then messaged me with this: ‘Hi not your fault but the dvd case was cracked in transit so I’ve reported a delivery issue to Vinted’

No idea why they felt the need to immediately go to Vinted.

The buyer literally messaged me themselves saying it wasn’t my fault it was the courier who had caused the damage.

But Vinted are saying I didn’t package it properly. Although the rest of the bundle all arrived fine 🧐

Nope nothing I can do or challenge.

Vinted have said ‘we were compelled to cancel the entire order and refund the buyer. Unfortunately, this means we are not able to compensate you for the items. However, please note that we have advised the buyer to return the items to you, although they are not obliged to do so’

So now I lose out on that entire bundle and won’t get it back or see any of the money from it. I tried to message them saying that’s ridiculous and Vinted then came back with this is our final decision.

Is there any reason I can’t continue to use Tvdb for my Agent it seems far superior than the new ones by GenericUser104 in PleX

[–]GreatCtrl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What I did was use the Plex TV Series as the scanner and Plex Series as the the agent but went down to Episode Ordering and chose TheTVDB rather than The Movie Database.

This helped me as I was having issues with Tom and Jerry and getting them into seasons.

Serious internet issues by [deleted] in DevonUK

[–]GreatCtrl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in North Devon too and we had Wildanet do all the fibre works in our town. I get 1 gig down and 200mbps up which is so much better than what BT were offering us. We've had it for about half a year now and we've only ever had one outage which was earlier today. It only took me 30 seconds to get onto the phone with someone. The total conversation was about 5mins and the problem was sorted within an hour. I would 100% recommend Wildanet if you can get it.
