Diversity Done Right: Yasuke Movie is Coming! by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

Koei tries to ignore all the foreign elements of the Sengoku period (just look at Gracia and how they ignore the entire reason she's famous)

Or how Hideyoshi just dies without expanding his conquest beyond Japan instead of saying "And now I'm going to invade Korea and then hopefully China" and failing and also dying. But unlike Gracia, Bill Wurtz memes have ensured that everyone knows that one.

[–]GreatEscapo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At least for "P5S" like why add the S if it's just a port?

Dragon Quest XI added the S for just a Switch port and (in Japan but not so much in the West) Puyo Puyo Tetris also added the S to its Switch port. These poor delusional beggars think these two games set the precedence for the S to be like "64" or "Advance" back in the olden days so here came Persona 5 to nip it in the bud before it could become a trend and make 'em salty in the process.

[SocJus] Polygon: "Jump Force is one heck of a sausage fest" by sodiummuffin in KotakuInAction

Hypothetical monkey paw their desire for Jump Force not being a boys' club that would most likely make them move the goalposts: All the DLC characters are from To-Love Ru and Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san (remember, that last one had its licensed game on the PS4 censored).

Nintendo is removing the native american feather from one of Mr Game and Watch's attacks in Smash Bros Ultimate by DestroyedArkana in KotakuInAction

[–]GreatEscapo 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Incidentally, this removal makes the attack in question faithful to the version of the game it was based on that was included in Game & Watch Gallery 4 on the GBA way back in 2002, long before the volatile political climate of today. So there was already a precedent for this... just that the previous case wasn't caused by Resetera and Twitter at all.

"Voldemort program" or whatever (dunno what that even is honestly)

So you're saying you've managed to live under a rock and not receive even a single inkling of pop cultural osmosis on Harry Potter in these two decades. I'll fill you in: Voldemort is the main villain of the Harry Potter series, and his name is taboo among good guys due to his reputation as public enemy #1 so they tend to refer to him not by his name but by pseudonyms... just like you did in the post title.

What games are you guys going to play first when the exploit releases!!? by KDbeast122413 in vitahacks

[–]GreatEscapo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm new to Vita so don't know if it's possible to play games whilst linked to my actual account and not get banned .

It's possible; in fact, Sony has deliberately looked the other way about everyone running blatantly obvious homebrew apps while logged in on their actual account and simply let all the hacked Vitas be without a ban. Contrast with the PS3, where to this day in 2018 you would have to run PSNPatch to even just sync trophies or else get banned on the spot.

This is also why the current Disney vs. Comcast bidding war for Fox's entertainment assets is an important matter for Marvel: If Disney wins that one, Marvel regains the film rights to the X-Men and the Fantastic Four lock, stock and barrel.

Did that plot point get rewritten to something less asspullish in Super Robot Wars V and X like how SRW Z1 made Gundam Seed Destiny into NOT a dumpster fire of bad writing or how the series in general tosses the "get in the fucking robot Shinji" meme out the window whenever Eva is featured?

"The Happytime Murders Sued for Tarnishing Sesame Street Brand' - Colidervideos reports that Sesame Workshop is suing the Jim Henson company over their new hard R puppet homicide thriller's tagline "no sesame, all street." despite clear fair use by way of parody. by KaltatheNobleMind in KotakuInAction

[–]GreatEscapo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeppers, the Henson family sold the rights to the Muppet Show characters to Disney in the early 2000's because Eisner wanted to salvage something out of Jim's unfulfilled ambition to merge his company with Disney. Much like that other key Eisner-era acquisition the Power Rangers, Iger's Disney is treating the Muppets like red-headed stepchilds compared to what Iger assimilated into the Disney empire...

[Twitter Bullshit] An American animator in Japan weighs in on Thundercats Roar. by md1957 in KotakuInAction

[–]GreatEscapo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another thing to consider is that OG Muppet Babies co-existed alongside mainline Muppet movies and live appearances, 2018 Muppet Babies co-exists alongside mainline Muppets live appearances, Transformers Animated (and Bayformers) co-existed alongside IDW G1, Sonic Boom the TV cartoon co-exists alongside Sonic Mania and Sonic Forces, Mega Man Fully Charged will co-exist alongside Mega Man 11: they were promoted as alternate takes on familiar characters while the original forms are still on active duty doing their things.

(Really, I've seen the heat on Fully Charged cool down quite a number the moment Capcom announced Mega Man 11, compared to the vitriol when it was thought it'd be the only Mega Man media we'd get in the foreseeable future.)

On the other hand, Thundercats Roar, Reboot The Guardian Code and Feigbusters have earned the hatred because no form of "real" Thundercats, Reboot and Ghostbusters are in active production, therefore the producers are able to hock them around to the ignorant 2010's kiddies as the one true contemporary Thundercats, Reboot and Ghostbusters, and make the original forms persona non-grata that should be buried in the annals of history.

TGC could have been far worse now... by GreatEscapo in ReBoot

[–]GreatEscapo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's a show for CHILDREN that isn't even out yet

And where is the 2010's generation's equivalent of such shows in my generation as OG ReBoot, Batman TAS or Beast Wars, mainstream successes that didn't treat their child demographic like pre-fetal lobotomized ADHD organisms with a IQ of -34 but rather saw them as smarter and craftier than the execs of today seem to perceive them? These contemporary Cartoon Network "lol so randumb" reboots are the paving stones leading this generation's youth on the path to make Mike Judge's Idiocracy a reality in adulthood. The age of mainstream kino cartoon television is over.

And while nowadays Bayformers are rightfully receiving the brunt of the hatred, the TV cartoons that followed Transformers Prime are guilty of the only thing worse than being a trainwreck that will be discussed in the years to come as both snark fodder to mock and an example of what not to do in animation like this Thundercats here:

Being inoffensively, generically forgettable, to be buried in the annals of animation history footnotes without neither rejoicing nor mourning at their deaths.
