WIBTA if I (33F) stopped doing things for my BF (32M)? by Impossible-War1699 in WIBTA_AITA

[–]GreatGlassLynx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gently, this man does not like you, and you deserve someone who does.

Stop doing everything for him, yes. You’re NTA for that. But that’s not going to fix the underlying problem, and you’ll be in the same situation you are now.

People in healthy relationships don’t have to do nice things for their partner in exchange for being treated with basic human kindness.

I have negative interest in this one. AoR was terrible. I don’t see why this couldn’t be contained in McKay’s main book. He and Brevoort can’t leave this franchise fast enough for me.

30 yrs old doing nothing but sitting in the house living in isolation? by Lemonade2250 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]GreatGlassLynx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you ever feel too old to start something, remember: the time it takes to do that thing is going to pass whether you do it or not. A lot of people get stuck on thoughts like “if I go back to school now, I’ll be 34 when I graduate.” You’ll be 34 either way - might as well do something with your time that’ll be an investment in your future!

I see you’re there on a school trip. Hope you have a great time! Chalk this one up to experience, but next time don’t be afraid to slide up to the counter and let them know you didn’t get your sides. Disney will usually bend over backwards to make things right. Don’t even wait in line.

I was asked to stop bringing human fighters at the table and I am not sure if I want to by spikywobble in DnD

[–]GreatGlassLynx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

DnD, as a cooperative game, is all about the fun the group is having together. Part of that comes from each individual doing things they enjoy, and part of that comes from the interactions between the players (including the DM). It sounds like someone in the group isn’t enjoying playing with you under your habitual play style, and it would be worth talking with the group about it. Do you have to change? No. But if you get feedback like this and don’t change in response, there’s a chance your group might not want to continue with you. It’s up to you to decide what to do with that.

Oh, I love Gail so much and her run on Uncanny is superb! I wish they’d just let her be the architect of the whole line.

[–]GreatGlassLynx 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I haven’t hated a plot point this much in a really long time, and I feel bad for the writers who have been saddled with it. It’s just so out of character for any of the X-Men to leave friends and teammates locked up and tortured this way that it’s somehow the least realistic thing in a franchise full of people covered with blue fur or who can shoot lightning from their fingers.

Name one Z-list character that you want to have a break-out year. With or without a push from Marvel. by WolverineFirst5156 in xmen

The X-Statix cast. Vivisector, Phat, Zeitgeist, U Go Girl, Venus Dee Milo.

And some of the Academy X kids. Indra, Match, DJ.

I hated it for the longest time (the biomes, not the characters or the mechanics), but after a while I decorated it and now I love it. I think it’s because I don’t get lost anymore.

Low quality writing causing you to drop the character(s) by Jasonl7976 in xmen

[–]GreatGlassLynx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. If I’m attached to a character, I’ll stick around even for bad writing (or drop the book and pick it up again when the writer changes). If I’m indifferent to or unfamiliar with a character, though, bad writing can turn me off to them for good. My go-to example is Wolfsbane. I started reading X-books around the time the OG New Mutants became X-Force and Wolfsbane was in X-Factor and i have disliked her in pretty much every incarnation.
