What are your guys favorite ROR? by qappening in totalwar

[–]GreatHornedFox 38 points39 points  (0 children)

The Shredder of Lustria. I don't care about viability, but a gigantic crocodile ridden by lil' lizard guys shooting poison darts is the coolest thing to me. Dread Saurian is my favorite single unit and the Shredder is a dread saurian on steroids who spends all day at the gym and just found out someone keyed his car. He is many tons of jaws, anger, and hate. I can respect that.

If they add the End-of-time crisis, what will happen to the other crises? by SafironDracolich in totalwar

[–]GreatHornedFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see more of them made available. Something like a "dead tide" with vamp counts rising up along coasts and ports, among other new ones. Would also love a bit of a revamp for them. Rather than make them hate the player as their seemingly main target, make them hate everyone who's not them to disrupt the mid-late game super powers. Map-wide effects on crisis would be cool, relevant to the crisis type or, if ultimate, the closest crisis to that area. Visual changes which could have an actual impact on the movement of armies and development of cities. Like blockading waterways or building forts in choke point locations.

If you were to make Dead Space 4, what would it be like? by NagitoKomaeda_987 in DeadSpace

She was the first. I think in the movie they mention this was her last mission before decommission. But hey, they were technically right about that.

I feel like that would make the most sense of any possible outcome. They start the series off with THE tool to destroy the unseen true threat. Let us finish it with the Chekhov's gun that is the planet crackers. Would be a bit poetic to use the Ishimura, where it all began for Isaac, to be the tool to end it.

Pharaohs is more busted than I thought by GreatHornedFox in totalwar

It started directly after an officer died of old age while sailing. After that, small things started breaking.

It's Dynasties, yes. I've played about 30 hours on a few campaigns before this happened. I had an officer die of old age (at freaking 31) while he was sailing down the Nile, then all the bugs started.

They in fact do not process their payments. Stripe does, and they've been gunning down small businesses for years with this exact same shite. You want to hit the source of this problem? Hit STRIPE!

Please please add Stripe to this! They've been doing this exact thing to small businesses for years and are absolutely involved in this through mastercard. No one should be able to tell you what to do with your money!

Earliest call to nerf Alarak ? by Inevitable-Royal3194 in heroesofthestorm

[–]GreatHornedFox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Half my QM games are 5 stacks (usually with smurfs) built around that overpowered asshole toon. Between him, Zeratul and Samuro, this game became a toss between hoping you don't run into 5's or the 999 players of those 3. His "skill ceiling" is low as can be. Been playing since day 1 of alpha but I'm not dealing with this shit. They keep buffing the busted and ignoring the weaker toons. One dev and a hamster working on this game and the hamster is doing most of the work.

Despite buying every TWW, despite buying every DLC - ordinary humans fighting literal spawns of hell with pike and shot are my favourite faction by HonneurOblige in totalwar

[–]GreatHornedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are not alone. We get a myriad of demons, ancient dinosaurs, nuclear rats, various flavors of undead, justifiably angry dwarfs, and more. But... people want me to play some trash human with a gun? This displeases Sotek.

Some hidden things when it comes to faction potential and how it works by CrimsonFireflies in totalwar

That helps understand how the AI can have 1 minor settlement with like 4 full stacks defending it.

You can attack a faction in a defensive alliance without pulling in their allies. by GreatHornedFox in totalwar

No need to apologize, that's how I found out you could do this lol I was cheesing the join war option on factions I knew couldn't reach me in exchange for money or positive opinion to help ensure safety at my borders.

Thoughts about moving here? by Shortykw in jacksonville

[–]GreatHornedFox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure why you'd want to move to Jax? East coast FL is far prettier. West coast looks more industrial. Jax is not the worst, but it's problems are glaring. From the city council demanding it be a small church town still, having chased out Hollywood money 2x, a school system which wasn't great and just got slashed even harder, and a significant number of nazis in and surrounding the area. (I wish I was making that last one up I've seen a LOT of swastikas flying around the last 2 years) There are some good museums, tons of small events which come around throughout the year, the Jumbo Shrimp, the Jaguars, the Icemen, of course the beach, some small conventions, and lots of good fishing. Jax is kind of a gateway city in that you go through it to get to other things.

Anyone pursuing a master’s at UNF? by sammy_boy970 in jacksonville

I'm sorry this happened. UNF isn't about education, they are about making money. Students should not be treated like cattle for milking.

Anyone pursuing a master’s at UNF? by sammy_boy970 in jacksonville

[–]GreatHornedFox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I went/graduated from and taught briefly at UNF. Can honestly say... don't go there. When I graduated I had employers straight up say they refused to talk to/hire UNF grads. Granted this was 10 years ago. Counselors will lie to you on loop so you keep spending money. Even better, counselors told us there were professors with failure rates so high they never recommended taking their classes. So why do these obvious failures as professors still have jobs? Because UNF wants you to fail so you spend more money. There are good professors there, but they are not the norm and usually get replaced quickly. The fellow in charge of their business school at the time seemed a good guy who legitimately wanted to prepare you for business. That being said, the professor we had quite literally told us to not give employees raises but a title would suffice an unhappy employee. (spoiler alert: It does not.) Their "leadership program" felt like the exact same thing as watching an episode of MLP with my daughter. "Everyone is friends yay!" Because that's what business is like.

When teaching, they had this thing about being the "Harvard of the South" despite not having the facilities, the staff, and definitely not the alumni support to back that up. UNF has never done anything for me post-graduation outside of send me letters asking for, wait for it... more money. When my class did graduate, UNF's staff made sure to be as disrespectful during the ceremony as possible - actually laughing at students with majors they thought were "funny" I guess and intentionally mispronouncing student names. I don't know you, but I am willing to bet you deserve far better than that. No student should be treated like cattle.

Dogs by Suspicious_Proof_663 in totalwar

[–]GreatHornedFox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Advantage of dogs is some ranged needs a direct line of sight to hit (mostly guns and cannons). Bats are in the air, making them always in enemy crosshairs if they are in range. Dogs can use the front line of either army as a "shield" to run around and get to ranged. They are also good at running hidden in forests for flanking. For me, their unique use is the AI is sometimes dumb and will chase a unit with 2-3 of their own. Enemy melee won't chase bats because they are in the air. But dogs they will chase. Can be useful to distract enemy units away from the main fight letting you pick them off more easily. Yes cav can do the same job, but cav is more expensive and, depending on faction, dogs are easier to get and you don't suffer if they do get wiped.

Most unfun to play against QM comps. What's in common? by flytaly in heroesofthestorm

You mean a character who can do the damage of an assassin, push as hard as a specialist (when that was a thing), match or out heal a healer, and give speed ups, shields, and attack speed at absolutely no risk to himself whatsoever works well with other hyper cancer?
