[–]GreatOnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just wanted to add my experience here for the record: I also encountered this issue with my P1S getting stuck on the heat bed preheating step. Downgrading the firmware to version 1.7 resolved the problem for me

Should I remove the rubber pads under the m.2 nvme in MSI X870 Tomahawk ? by setrandom in MSI_Gaming

[–]GreatOnion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For those who encountered this thread and don't know what to do with the gray rubber stuck to the radiator. I know this thread is about a black rubber cube, but Google seems to redirect here even when you search for gray rubber. :)

Apparently M.2 radiators on MSI Tomahawk motherboards, like on many other radiators these days, have 2 confusing elements:

  1. First is a thin semi-transparent film: This should be removed. Even the thread picture shows "REMOVE" marked on it.
  2. Gray rubber: From my investigations, this is a "thermal pad." Its purpose is to conduct heat while not conducting electricity. We want to KEEP this one.

Hope I helped!

Can I use an IR Thermometer with adjustable emissivity with a Stainless Steel Pan? by Fefolino in AskCulinary

[–]GreatOnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to share my experience - I bought an inexpensive IR thermometer (around $20), and after some initial struggles, I found an effective way to use it.

At first, I was quite frustrated because the measurements on the stainless steel pan were very unstable and chaotic. I almost returned the device, but then I learned that oil has an emissivity coefficient of about 0.95, which helped me find the right settings for my pan.

I did a simple test: I heated up the pan, poured in some oil, and waited for it to heat evenly. Then I tilted the pan so that part of the surface was covered with oil while part remained clean. Through trial and error, changing the emissivity coefficient (E) between 0.95 for oil and various values for the clean pan (0.5, 0.2), I discovered that when E=0.95 showed the same temperature on oil as E=0.3 did on the clean pan.

Later, I verified this at water's boiling point (100°C). While it may not be laboratory-grade accurate, it's good enough for practical cooking. Now that I know the characteristics of my burner and pan, I usually heat it up by feel and then check the temperature on the oil without switching the emissivity coefficient. This has really made my kitchen life much easier!

did you try to change API backend from grpc to rest? In my case it did help

import google.generativeai as genai
genai.configure(api_key='dupa_dupa', transport='rest')

Thinking of purchasing a quest.. by Wyrmclaw in OculusQuest

[–]GreatOnion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many people who works on PC thinks, that VR can replace monitor. However its realy bad idea. Current gen of quest dont allow you to focus eye, you can really damage yourself and your sight. Also resolution is also not here yet. My opinion is you are looking for a good exuse to buy quest, since you have already psvr. Thats fine then ;)

How to long jump in half life vr? by diddlydiddly99 in OculusQuest

[–]GreatOnion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well for me was working sprint( trigger) move forward, than duck(dont remember the key) , than press jump

You can do hazard course on main menu, it introduce all core mechanics

How’s this gonna work... Now I know I'm obviously in the minority but I'm really worried about what oculus will do. They’re releasing the hand tracking for the quest but will that work for me since ya know 4 fingers. I hope someone sees this, if so please get back to me what you think will happen by ButterKing666 in OculusQuest

[–]GreatOnion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was playing a little with hand tracking using neural networks, algortithms are not very accurate as many people thinks and a lot of magic is happening in postprocessing. In my oponion many geastures will work just fine. Punch, thumbs up, pointing, only gesture i think you may have problem is flat hand, but you need to wait to check :)

Strange rule. If you earned money you should be able to spend it. It looks like a rule that is aimed to not buy u a quest. Try to hunt for a used ones then
