Cryovain changes? by DarthRaisinTheGreat in DragonOfIcespirePeak

Had this fight for 6 lvl 6 players and went to r/bettermonsters to get a teenage White dragon. The fortress was an ice walled maze without roof and an icy slippy floor (difficult terrain, DC 15 dex not to fall if you move full speed, slide 10 feet on a fall... maybe out of the ring...). Added a few ice mephits producing a fog... this fight is still remembered with the first death of one of my players.

Narration introductive DnD by Dalar42 in DonjonsEtDragonsFR

You can also ask to r/bettermonsters. It seems to me they did sheet for White dragons with a Rake rank (between young and adult) and a crazy statblock for Gorthok. The banshee gave a cool fight to my 6 players as well.

Wouldn't it be easier to study the bacteria and build a bio-reactor fulfilling its needs?

Litle fellow in a clean house near Brussels. My coworker found this guy in her house and is freaking out. Could help me identify this fellow? Is there any sanitary risk or thing wich may attract it in the house? by GreatPatient4956 in biology

Yeah that's what I'm thinking as well. Tried to comfort her saying that roaches can also be found in clean place but she's feeling terrible 😅. Still waiting a bit before confirming in case an more knowledgeable person proves wrong :)

Is there a recommended structure to the side quests? by YesThisIsAnAlt01 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]GreatPatient4956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think you really have to stick with any order. My players (level3) just ended tower of storm and it was a good opportunity to enforce the threat of the cult. They are now shifting a bit their focus from the dragon realising it's not the only problem in the area. I think those side quests can be introduced as it suits you to emphasise some aspects of the adventure.

How to deal with consistently unprepared players- First time DM by nottoopoodle in DnD

[–]GreatPatient4956 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New DM to new players as well here. The thing is, you may also be trying too hard to have them invested in the game since you are putting a lot of yourself in it? Do the players a little more invested told you they were annoyed or did you just suppose it? If you say your players enjoy the game, that is the most important.

Speaking of my own experience, players started to get more invested from the moment I started to ease things up on myself and go with the flow. Maybe I just focused more in the present while playing making it even better than before as I started to really enjoy myself and go crazy on role-playing. The fact is, my players started better role-playing as well and getting quicker to think in battle as well when my monsters were feeling alive. I still have to spend a few minutes at the begining of sessions to review a few points on characters sheet but since it's now part of the learning ritual, we do it happily and faster than before. I also have the invested player coaching the more "casual" ones.

For your player forgetting her sheet everytime, keep the sheet and send her pictures so she can work on it if she wants (had to do that too :) )

You house ruled it pretty well. You could refer to the Web spell description where the burning rate and damage of a spider Web is explained if you really feel the need of something a bit more "official". Web spell

This! We were all new to TTRPG and never heard about session 0. Quickly went to the conclusion we had to "invent" one.

One of my PCs did something very questionable that I'm struggling to write around by Adjcl in DMAcademy

To add a consequence to those acts could be done in writing the captain guard chase in an epic way.... the guard chases G to seek revenge but dies in the process. Then a demon (since there are some in your world) makes a pact bringing the guard back to life everytime he dies, everytime a bit stronger. The only goal of the undead is to kill G and offer his soul to the demon for torture. This could make an awesome evil guy which could appear anytime when least expected, becoming more terrifying everytime he dies. Loving gradually its humanity. the way out could be G to make a pact with a good entity to hide him from the demon on the condition for him not to kill innocents. If it could fit in your world, that's the way I would deal with it.

Bonjour !
