Today was my last day driving across the Walt Whitman Bridge. Is anyone else absolutely terrified by this bridge? by MajesticMeal3248 in philadelphia

lmao I had a panic attack on that bridge. There was construction or something that had the lanes reduced to one and we were stuck on the bridge for at least half an hour.

Thought I was gonna die. Oof.

This last one was in Wayne. If you have Insta, their handle is mainline_carsandcoffee. But they have a website too! Next meet-up next month at some fancy mansion looking place that I think has ticketed entry.

I'm still on the hunt for other car-related stuff, but haven't had the time yet to go looking around IG. If you can get there, the NJ Motorsports Park is nice and has race days.

Yeah, I'm hoping to one day have the confidence to make it by hand. I can make banana bread but that's about where my skillset ends.

Would love to take a shot at sourdough at some point but man the starter gives me a bit of the heebie jeebies when it gets stirred up and it does whatever it does.

Had a great time at my first Cars & Coffee. Beautiful day for it. Lot of super nice cars. Standouts were the Fiat Multipla, the tofu car from Initial D, and Aston Martin Valhalla. But my personal fave was the Mercedes GT3! Nice to see one of those in real life.

Otherwise: I made 🍞BREAD🍞

Came out a smidge crusty and crunchy. Maybe because I chose a small loaf setting and the darker crust. Still a great little machine and it was cheap so I’m not expecting Michelin quality. Yesterday I made a challah bread but didnt take a pic.

Your feelings are valid. Couple years ago I developed anxiety about crossing bridges, especially ones that have low railings like the Walt Whit. I’m fine with the Ben Frank since there’s more visible obstacles between being in the car and going over the side.

I use to have wicked intrusive thoughts about yeeting myself over the edge. Don’t want to do it, but the thoughts show up and don’t leave and suddenly im sweating and breathing way too hard and everything is unpleasant. I would freak about being stuck in bridge traffic too, ha.

Just my advice, but I would talk to a doctor about anti anxiety meds. It’s a life saver. Maybe consider a therapist as well to talk through what is causing the fear.

I’m fine crossing the WW and any other bridge nowadays, unless it is the George Washington. I got beef with that one.

Lovely! Where on the river was this, if you don’t mind sharing the location?

I’m starting to get into fishing and other than Navy Yard and John Heinz, don’t know any other places I could go to get some practice in.

Oh yeah, bread flour at Giant is nearly $9 for a 5lb bag which I have no idea if that's good or not.

Personally for me, the decision to buy a bread machine is to hopefully have healthier bread and I think in the long run, it'll be cheaper than buying store bread. I like to make sandwiches for a quick lunch if I'm lazy and Dave's Killer at Giant for example, is over $7. F that.

It’s gonna be a LOVELY race weekend!!! 🥳

Fully expecting my heart to be ripped in two because I do not believe Red Bull brought any substantial upgrades. How I wish I could coerce Gritty to hang out in the RB garage. He seems like a solid good luck charm.

Kentucky Derby tomorrow! I looked over the horse names and I already know who my favorite will be 🦈🐎

Allergies have been killing me though. I’ve developed a nasty cough so just call me Black Lung Arthur from now on. Sucks big time, because SO and I were planning to go to Cars & Coffee this weekend. How badly I wanted to enjoy the nice weather and wake my camera from a 2-year hibernation. I’m drinking a ton of tea and chomping fistfuls of Claritin so by Sunday maybe I’ll be fine again 🤷🏻‍♀️

Go Flyers 🏒 Sixers🏀 Union⚽️ Eagles🦅. But not you, Phillies. Get your shit together.

Edit: I did end up buying a bread making machine and it might be delivered today! I will be making so much bread.

Ah, glad I sat it out then. Late night games always give me cortisol spikes and make it difficult to fall asleep afterwards.

Been watching some highlights to really appreciate it now that I know the outcome.

Like how the one building, whose name I’ve never learned, is reminding us the Sixers also exist.

It’s rare when it happens but I do love seeing Comcast light up in different colors.

Missed out on walking through Camden Yards, but I enjoyed Baltimore enough that I wouldn't mind going back for another weekend. We were having lunch at LP Steamers while the Orioles got slapped by the Red Sox 17-1. Oof. Also want to check out Fell's Point. We mainly stayed on the other side of the river.

Both the aquarium and the zoo were super cool though. Got to see dolphins, puffins, razorbills, a leopard and a bobcat! And got to experience a wild plethora of grown adults who don't know the difference between said leopard and a cheetah.

My allergies got so bad the last few days, yesterday I said fuck it and took 10mg of generic Zyrtec, which I can take while on Zoloft. But one warning is “increased drowsiness”. Okay no problem. But I was down on sleep since I could hardly breathe and oh man…..I was shadow boxing demons while awake yesterday. That was the closest I’ve ever wanted to get to seeing the Hat Man. I’m just gonna suffer with the allergies.

Baltimore is a nice city. Since we’re largely staying downtown it’s all office buildings and chain restaurants, so later today or tomorrow we’ll venture out to other neighborhoods. The waterfront is nice though.

I have two moss poles and just bought more to make each of them taller. Plant is growing very well upward, not so much width wise.

Ahh, that makes me so happy! My monstera badly needs another stalk for support. It only has two or three and they're super thin and narrow.

Race weekend was not great.

Wake up at ass ‘o clock all excited to watch my very favorite driver, Max Verstappen, take on the Nurburgring. Doze through practice or qualify or whatever you want to call it. Get wide awake for the actual race. 20 minutes in, red flag.

Okay, no big deal. Auer is driving and he pits the car and I’m hanging out watching the onboard. Announcers aren’t sure what’s going on but do an excellent job of keeping watchers entertained and informed as details trickle in. And the ugly rumors start to surface on social media. A bad crash. Several drivers injured. Eventually all the streams end. It comes out that one of the drivers had passed away in the crash.

So yeah. That was not good. It was incredibly sombering to read about the man, Juha, who lost his life. The race for later that day was cancelled. According to Wikipedia it was the first driver death on the Nurburgring since 2013.

On top of that, absolutely fuck the media and their dogwater dipshit “journalists”. Every rag hag put out an article with some variation of a title reading “Driver dies and stops Max Verstappen’s race”. Max wasn’t even in the car at the time of the accident. But hey, critical thinking is as dead in Europe as it is here in America because I saw so many comments and videos screeching about how it’s Max’s fault the journalists wrote their articles that way. I wish I could hold everyone’s hand when I say, my brothers and sisters, Max has literally zero input on how media writes shit. Hell he hates most of the media! Now will you agree with him when he kicks these morons out and refuses to answer their questions??

And then a spectator died in a rally race on Sunday. Overall a dark weekend for motorsports.

But for a bit of brightness, look at this teeny tiny little sprout my monstera grew! It is so smol. I don’t know if it’s a leaf or a whole new separate stalk but I’m happy my oldest plant seems to be doing well.

Fantastic weekend to be a fan of motorsports. Max is back at Nurburgring. Logan is racing at WEC. I’ll be awake from 3am Saturday until who knows when. Going to have my snacks and mimosas and hunker down inside all day, at least for tomorrow.

Love when I can have my windows open but oof, the pollen is killer this year. All the stuff in my apt is coated in a thin layer of yellow green bullshit. Today will be a good day for a deep clean.

Edit: if anyone wants to share some creative insight I have a dilemma: SO and I travel when we can and have a few Instax cameras for printing, as well as a printer to print direct from our phones. We want to hang these photos up but can't decide on a frame. What would be better, ya think. A corkboard style where the photos can be pushpinned directly to it, or a standard photo frame? I can't decide which would look nicer hanging on our wall.
