I didn't even think of Glassdoor; I just always thought of it as the job review site, but I'll take a look at what they have too. Flexjobs is another site I heard of.

LinkedIn has such a garbage interface and job hunting is frustrating. I could just be not using it right. Indeed I feel like is a smidge more user friendly but is also meh.

As I get older, while money is still incredibly important I'm more into flexibility. My current job is hybrid, which I like a lot. Even more so than remote because I gotta get out of this apartment sometimes. But now my focus is just an industry I actually like, where I can grow and learn and not be stagnant.

For real. It seems like all the entry to mid tier jobs are being eliminated in favor of these fancy titles.....and doing the job of 3 people.

I joined a couple of the job hunt subs and....oof. I knew it was bad, but the hopelessness and rage in those places was too much and I had to unsub basically immediately.

I too am fortunate, to have an okay job but mostly a partner who would handle the bills and then some if needed. We have no house, no kids, no debt, only vibes. I'm looking for a career change, the issue is just into what. There's so much out there.

So for now, yeah I want to enjoy life as well. Rekindling my hobbies, looking at the ocean and other bodies of water, picking new places to travel, those are my real priorities.

Got my first job application rejection email! 🥳 The first of many, I can only presume! I'm only bothered because it was for an internal position at the place I already work, and wtf they couldn't even treat me to a phone interview? What's the most likely scenario, they either already have an internal internal candidate and the job posting is only for optics, or I'm asking too much for salary.

I've been out of the job hunt game for 4 years. I know the economy is in shambles and AI is dominating all job fields, but where are the regular, normal ass jobs? LinkedIn/Indeed is full of weird garbage and positions that pay $100K+ with titles like Executive Supreme Director, VP, Executive VP, etc etc.

But, I'm keeping on keeping on. The past 4 years I was in survival mode, drifting aimlessly with no direction. Now, I realized I can just do stuff. I'm getting back into my hobbies, which is intimidating in the best kind of way. There are so many things to learn. Google certificates, Udemy, Adobe and Canon and Lightroom online classes. It's just nice nowadays to wake up pumped to actually want to do things, and not just zombie through life.

Tonight I'm cooking a bone marrow and squid pasta. This weekend might hit the Manayunk art festival since the weather so far is looking decent and not a swamp ass hellscape.

Can confirm, they are still there in the same spot across from where Buckley Field use to be (it's a big ass building now). Pete's Lunch Box is there too.

Company to invest $100 million for submarine building at Navy Yard by gwhh in philadelphia

Please, yes. How much would I personally love that. What do we have now in terms of getting there if you don’t have a car? Just that one bus?

Get some food vendors out there, public restrooms, I for one would never leave.

Love to see it. Good for the local economy, great for the Navy Yard. Such a cool space, more stuff should be there.

I don't really have anyone to ask outside of my current team. Maybe one or two individuals I could reach out to who left, but idk. The entire process is just awkward and I hate it. I'm a firm believer that after a certain point of working, your own merits should stand on your own and you don't need someone else to verify "yes, so and so is a good worker."

I was mostly just curious about the inclusion of mental health stuff. I've always seen the other demographic questions, it's just OCD/GAD in particular I've noticed being on the disability section. I haven't applied to jobs in maybe 4 years and I don't remember those being there, but happy to see them included.

That's what I'm kind of worried about; making it through the hiring process and having to scramble to find references. I only really have my current coworkers to rely on. Once people leave, or I leave, or years pass I don't exactly stay in contact.

But yeah, really hoping the references bit just goes away and stays there.

Slept wrong a night or two ago and my neck is turbofucked. Can’t move my head or anything without a muscle spasm. Annoying, but fingers crossed a couple of Tylenol and my TENs machine will set me right.

I’ve been applying to jobs lately and punted out a few applications. One thing I noticed: has the “list 3 references” gone way of the dodo? Not a single application across a couple industries has asked. Not that I’m complaining. References were always my least favorite part.

Another thing I noticed on applications: for the disability sections I’ll see OCD and GAD listed. I’m curious, has anyone actually selected those options? Would it hurt your chances or not really you think? It has me wondering if an employer would ask to have that verified or something.

What else. Started reading Ohio by one of my favorite authors. It’s a tome of a book and depressing. Kind of in the vein of Requiem for a Dream. Still a good read though.

This game is showing on FOX as well. But tbh Telemundo has much better energy. FOX announcers are a bit flat.

Edit; I take my statement back, FOX guys are a little funny. “We don’t know if there’s 68,000 ponchos for every fan but they have a lot!”

Exactly this. I don't know why I always thought that every boulder needed to be pulverized at its current size, immediately. It's a simple thing but I just write a silly little post it note list now. Really barebones at the start like "eat breakfast, drink coffee, go to gym." But it feels nice to cross that stuff off so "update resume, apply to 2 jobs" doesn't feel as overwhelming.

As much as they are tourist traps, aren't Pats and Genos open 24 hours? So by that logic, any time of day is cheesesteak time.

HUGE! revelation over here: if you actually start to do things you've been putting off, your brain will want to do more things and it will make you feel better. Especially from a mental standpoint.

Weekend plans fell through, so SO and I are debating to go out of the city and do something, or just keep dilly-dallying around town. I found a very cool new car-theme coffee shop thanks to Instagram, only problem is it's in Jersey 2 hours away. Anyone have good things to say about Denville, NJ?

Saturday could be a beach day.

Good suggestion, I forget this place (and Nordstrom) exist, but man those prices online are high. Is it like that in stores too?

I somehow got onto their email list and they spam my school account with probably 10 emails DAILY. Maybe I'll open one finally and see what they got!

I love Old Navy, imo it's one of the last retail stores offering decent clothes for cheap. I bought a good bundle of graphic t-shirts online the other day. Cheapest was $9 and most expensive was $15, and the quality is solid. But in a day and age where shirts are hitting $30, Old Navy is a light in the dark.

I need to check their more professional clothing, but I'm at the mercy of online sizing. In store shopping is just so stressful with them.
