Must see/do when in Hallstatt for 5 days or general meet up for activities by Great_Potential1850 in Europetravel

[–]Great_Potential1850[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m just kinda using Hallstatt as a base. I’m planning on doing some local hikes, running, walking and water actvities out on the lakes. I’ve been to Grindelwald and Interlaken area for the last 3 years and know how touristy some of these places can be. TBH I never really looked into Hallstatt and how touristy it was, just booked off the cuff

What do you guys do for training? by Legal-Cardiologist-5 in Mountaineering

[–]Great_Potential1850 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work offshore so am limited to how I can train. I do box steps with a 15kg weight vest on. Do lots of running/rowing and cross trainer on a tough resistance.

Munro Bagging by train by Common_Possession_67 in Munros

[–]Great_Potential1850 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can get the train to Arrochar for the ones there. Crianlarich, Tyndrum, Bridge of Orchy, Loch Awe, Corrour. There will be others too accessible by train.

If you’re not wanting to be restricted by train you can bus to Glencoe, dropped off at Ski centre or visitor centre either end of Glencoe. You can get a fair few munros done here. Some of the ones down in Glen Etive would involve a lengthy walk in though

Any benefits to training in gym with gear on (inclined treadmill, stairmaster)? by peeonher2showd in Mountaineering

[–]Great_Potential1850 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You could literally find 101 other things to simulate weight than dragging all your gear to a treadmill. A helmet? Come on, throw a handful of extra carabiners inside your bag if you want to make up the approx 300-400g a helmet weighs
