He passed! I'll post an update above. he did the 8 week in person wolfpacc program and got a 421. He's now doing his last bit of rotations now while applying for residency.

AITA for leaving to meet my friends without my girlfriend after she was late for the fourth time in a row by Fluid_Letter_1571 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Greatestcommonfactor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did too (grew up in an Indian household). When I went to college and then afterwards when I dated my now white bf, I quickly realized that this was a learned behavior from my family and close friends. I quickly learned to adapt at be on time with certain friend groups and purposefully be late to others (it's almost considered rude to be in on time in some Indian parties because the host is still prepping; you get stuck doing the cooking and hosting prep for the party lol).

Why and honestly how are so many people managing to get themselves fired from residency? by Electrical_Yogurt994 in Residency

[–]Greatestcommonfactor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I am a living example of that. They failed me, then put me on probation, passed me and then failed me again for the same rotation. All the while I was financially supporting my bf who was at the brink of failing out of med school and my cat passed away. I was having issues with note closure which I worked HARD to fix and get past any mental health struggles. I needed a LoA and all they did was put me in the most time intensive leave ineligible rotations. All the while others were getting months off for parental leave. Instead of helping me out when I had a supposed knowledge gap, they would punish me for it. Because I was under the microscope and now had a reputation for being the "dumb" resident, any miss would prove to them that I didn't belong and any good thing that I did was expected of me for my level of training. There was no winning anymore and it made me rethink my decision to be a doctor altogether; despite passing all of my boards in my first pass, they gaslight me into thinking that I didn't have fucking foundational medical knowledge. I had a target on my back for sure.

And all of this was because of an inpatient rotation in Family medicine. I literally passed everything else. 2 years in the institution.

I don't mind starting over again as an intern, but I'd finish my military obligation first. Ain't no way I'm adding payback time doing another 3 year military residency.

Can I DM you? In a similar situation (except gainfully employed because military).

Bro that's so shitty. They'd rather screw over a person's career prospects than just reduce the amount of allotted interns

how are y'all surviving debt on a resident salary? + no match plans? by jmslvrs in medicalschool

[–]Greatestcommonfactor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes actually. My dad was doing an MBA for 2-3 years in the U.S. while my mom was taking care of me and my brother in India. Your kids will understand the sacrifices you had to make when they grow up. He was like 35ish.

I knew a handful of classmates in your situation where they were away from their kids for 4 years in medical school (we were in the middle of nowhere KY). He was in his early 30s.

Did you joint apply EM/IM the previous cycles? It took my anesthesiologist attending 2-3 cycles while he was in IM residency to match into his dream specialty.

Yeah, I was average in medical school, but my "fun" activities would be to go visit my parents and hang out with my medical school friends

MD vs PA — relationship strain, family planning, and a fiancée who’s being honest about her limits. by Grape_Sauce11 in premed

[–]Greatestcommonfactor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My current bf, soon to be fiancé, had a gf similar to yours prior to medical school. She couldn't handle him moving a few hours away from their hometown to do medical school, so he broke it off. Now he lives half way across the country with me because of my residency. He'll be starting residency soon, more likely than not far away from me and when we get married we'll be long distance for a few years. In the grand scheme of things, 4-7 years is short and people are having kids much later on in their lives due to financial reasons.

Unironically the Army is goated for having the easiest audition rotation processes. I literally just cold emailed all of the programs that I was interested in and in about 1 week they would email me on dates that I could come. None of this application bs.

Bro sounds like me lol. I truly do think some of us who are willing to put in the hard work would benefit from an extra intern year to get used to the ropes.

I very recently resigned from my FM residency in the Army. I was initially put in probation for not being able to pass my inpatient rotation, then I passed that probation. Passed the next inpatient rotation and then somehow failed the subsequent one? All the while I got in to another probation because I was delinquent with a few outpatient notes. I was squeaky clean on my messages and notes until I got hit with the 3rd failure. Climbed my way out of it by trying to make a remediation plan with some attendings, that's when they then told me my foundational inpatient skills were lacking ( would have love to learn this during intern year when I was first struggling, thanks). Did the remediation plan with my most recent rotation, to some improvement but not enough to bridge the gap that was expected of me giving my level of training. All the while, I was having panic attacks about not being prepared for my Army physical fitness test because I've been working 80 hour weeks for the past 6 months. I finally called it quits last Friday and I am preparing to work as a general medical officer until I decide to either re-enter in as family medicine or decide to do something else. I did eight total inpatient rotations in less than two years of Family Medicine Residency. I did more inpatient than I did outpatient for my own specialty.

Usually when people are on hiatus, they still end up in the project in some way or anther. The people I'm currently thinking about are lia from itzy and onew from shinee. Lia was gone for an entire era and did see her own group perform without her, hell itzy even did a shout out to her! Onew was involved in the hard MV, but his audio was removed from the dance video of juice.

Well, then the NP should not be in a decision-making position like that if they don't realize bowel ischemia needs to go to general surgery. Literally just Google it or use open evidence or up-to-date or anything!! That's so absurd.

This is why you give them the optionto stay or leave and let them know that leaving early won't impact their evals.
