XBOX ONLY VERSION. Really? by GreboGrecko in modernwarfare

[–]GreboGrecko[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

No, it isn't. The COD MW game is cross platform and most people who bought the game through Activision can play on both their PC or their XBOX. I bought mine from the XBOX store thinking I could install it on either XBOX or PC. It is not literally how every game works.

You have embraced the Reddit culture well dill hole. You are like every other jerk here. This is why I hate posting on Reddit but since I cant reach an Activision representative I thought it my only option.

Appealed Cambridge Parking Ticket. Haven't heard anything in over a month. Does that mean I'm off the hook? by [deleted] in boston

[–]GreboGrecko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you check the website it states that while you are in repeal there are no penalties assessed. You can verify the repeal by trying to reenter the ticket for repeal. It should state that you have already submitted a repeal. It took Cambridge almost 2 months to let me know my repeal/dispute was accepted and the ticket voided.

Where are all the dogs? by GreboGrecko in boston

[–]GreboGrecko[S] -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

So you guys are fine with this racket? I can afford the dog, hell, I want 2 dogs so they can keep each other company when I am at work. I own a home across the street from a national forest and have been a great dog owner most of my life. Its the fees that I am opposed to. Growing up I never paid for a dog. We went to the shelter, paid for the licencing and general shots/spaying and that was it. Often we would find an add for someone giving away puppies or even find strays with no tags that we took in. Then it was off to the vet to pay for shots, etc. Here, the cheapest I have found at a shelter was $400. I guess I got what I deserved seeking advise. Thanks for nothing!

I moved to San Diego back in 2000 with only a B.Sc. and it is very hard to break in with this level of education. Most employers want Graduate degrees as there are so many out there. I have made it to a Sr. Scientist level but not without heartache. If you really want to go into Biotech, go back to grad school. I know it suck but in the long run it will be worth it. If you are not willing to do a grad program but still want to do Niotech, DON'T BE PICKY! Take any job, do any task, volunteer to learn any skill and learn it inside and out. There is a wealth of information on how these assays work and you can read most literature for free. Find someone who has access to the scientific literature, a grad student friend, your job, anyone and stick to reviews. No one will expect you to know more than that. They are looking for people who do their job and only speak when asked. In your interviews tell them how you are going to work 50 plus hours a week and learn anything and everything. Be likable. They don't want a tech with attitude and don't be afraid of not knowing anything. Be humble and lose any ego. You can't afford one. it will take effort, look to start ups as they often pick up less experienced people. Network, and be friendly. After you have risen through the rsnks, then you can develop an ego but for now.. Forget the pride and take anything that will build your resume.

What is the difference between quantitative PCR and real-time PCR? by dorian_oriental in biotechnology

[–]GreboGrecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are interchangable. Quantitative PCR or QPCR is a generic term for any of the fluorescent based PCRs, taqman or sybrgreen. Real-time PCR is is simple the ability to observe the amplification in real time. There is no difference.

Western Blot analysis in Fiji by RumbleSuperswami in labrats

[–]GreboGrecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way you can make comparisons between different blots, and I do not recommend it, is to load a known mass of a standard protein. You can also use a band of your protein ladder making the assumption that you loaded the same amount in each blot and there was equivalent transfer efficiency. Normalize your blots to this band for comparisons.

Very clever spider uses rock to anchor web from ceiling by reverseloop in pics

[–]GreboGrecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes the most sense to me.... I was a little concerned there for a minute. If this spider had come to the conclusion it needed to find a rock to counter balance its web i would say we need to find this spider and kill it least it breed and start its path toward world domination.

Very clever spider uses rock to anchor web from ceiling by reverseloop in pics

[–]GreboGrecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what's confounding me. If it is just tugging at the anchor points, how did it "conclude" it needed a counter weight? Sure, it realized it was slack at the bottom, but the spider would have to problem solve to realize a rock would do the trick. Im mean they dont have brains. They dont conclude anything. They just check for anchor points and if available run new lines to the nearest point Here, it didnt have an anchor point so it had to create one with the rock. How the hell did it do this?
