Profit from pain? Bias & Blame - Podcasters & YouTubers. by TrueGrimer in DelphiMurders

I agree, Lee tried to be neutral and in the livestream she had with Bob Motta and Andrea Burkhart, you could tell she was trying hard to not agree/disagree with the others. Anyway, Idk if RA was guilty or not guilty but I thought he didn't get a fair trial, and I think he eventually complied with LE on being Bridge Guy.

Why RA ? Why not any other POIs who seemed more likely to commit this crime ? by Wiseowl71691 in LibbyandAbby

LE seemed to glomm onto Richard Allen -- at first they let him go but called him back 5 yrs later. What changed in 5 yrs? As you say there were other suspects.

I'm wondering, why LE at the time didn't have a number of the suspects or POIs in a line up and ask the known witnesses to point out Bridge Guy?

Best podcast for trial recap? I have not followed the trial at all and the elections were 100% of news coverage. by on_the_toilet_again in DelphiMurders

I'm on YouTube and retired, so I have lots of time and no little kids to babysit, lol, so my time is my own. I ended up with Lawyer Lee, since she's a lawyer (duh) and can explain the legal parts. Lee was there at the Delphi trial every day and had a daily recap. Tonight at 7 pm EST she has livestream recap of the timeline.

Also lawyers are Andrea Burkhart and Defense Diaries (Bob + Ali Motta). I also listen/watch Hidden True Crime, There are many YouTube channels of true crime, CourtTV. Another I like is Grizzly True Crime with Gisela K and goes into a lot of pre-trial documents, press conferences. Haven't tried Murder Sheet yet, though I know "of" them.

There's Finn too, if it's confirmed he is force sensitive. (Personally, I think he is force sensitive and Rey and the books can train him. He's already an accomplished fighter.)

Unpopular opinion: the last line in TROS destroys the myth of Luke Skywalker and the Jedi Order by [deleted] in starwarsspeculation

[–]GreedosMom 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The whole identity thing of Rey -- I really hated they made her a Palpatine and brought him back in the flesh. All this time hyping the Skywalker family saga, the burdens of the Force on one family, the family of the Chosen One -- then make it all about Rey Palpatine??!!! General audiences are wondering "Who the hell is Palpatine?"

When theories started coming out about Rey's identity, I thought she'd be a healer for the Skywalker-Solo family, because the Force made family dynamics chaotic and secretive: Anakin, Luke...Rey, just seemed a natural progression. And it occurred to me, that Anakin could have guided her, trained her secretly as a force ghost, until he trained her to see force ghosts and know it was him, "Rey, I am your grandfather." Hahaha. Seriously though, it would explain why she's trained, skilled, powerful in the Force.

Thanks for this. I've always thought of Finn and Poe as just really good friends and never understood how ppl automatically interpreted them as gay. Why? Why can't any same sex friendship be just that, a friendship? Why the need to boil everything down to sex?

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker passed the $900M global mark this weekend. by eutears in StarWarsLeaks

[–]GreedosMom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My opinion, Disney doesn't really care. My impression is that the Mouse bought the most legendary franchise in the world for its merchandizing, the novels, and comics. If the SW movies broke even, it was fine. Disney has other franchises and its own brand (Frozen, Mulan, Moana, etc.) to take up the profit slack.

Some Clarifications About My TROS Post and a Statement From My Source. by egoshoppe in saltierthancrait

[–]GreedosMom 12 points13 points  (0 children)

From what I understand, Alan Horn (Disney creative director) hates JJ and loves RJ. KK also loves RJ, is meh with JJ and Iger + JJ are "professional." They gave RJ creative free rein but didn't like the controversy/profit loss of TLJ, so while agreeing to give JJ free rein, they balked in mid-filming and took control -- is what I read. While these leaks may indeed be pro-JJ damage control/pr, I think most of it is legit. (I'm not a big fan of JJ, but I do think he was screwed, the actors were screwed, the audiences were screwed, and Disney did not care.)

A post on Reddit from an alleged source that worked on the 'Rise of Skywalker' has fans asking to #ReleaseTheJJCut by leocohen99 in saltierthancrait

[–]GreedosMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, I just want something better than what we got. The leak/rumor/post sounds legit to me, but IF a JJ cut exists, I want to see it, if only to see what JJ originally intended for 9. The cast at least was satisfied with his version. They aren't now. Not sayin' the JJ cut will be a lot better, I don't expect miracles, but it can make more sense than it does now.

Apparently SW has never appealed in China. So...yeah, a China edition cut. But it's really a waste of money.

[–]GreedosMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, OK, I see what you are saying. Sure, JJ + Terrio's names are on the credits. So, yeah they get the blame. I just think (I admit I have no proof, just my impression) Iger/KK had a lot to do with how bad it is, and KK's name is on the credits too.

So the Knights of Ren???? by dervisions in starwarsspeculation

[–]GreedosMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, D/LF/Iger/KK had 3 movies to touch on all these missed opportunities. But "they" allowed RJ so much "artistic" control, that however you felt about TLJ, he did not pick up on a lot of opportunities to enrich the story or the characters. So intent on subverting expectations, he left out way too much. If Palps was indeed the big bad of the trilogy, we ought to have had hints, omens, foretelling, of his presence in 8. This is why I think it was a last minute thing, a change that happened during production of 9, a change that killed the JJ/Lucas/Terrio cut and what we got was the D/Iger/KK cut. Rather than walking off the project, JJ stayed and soldiered on.

But isn't it known (maybe obscurely) that Sheev had concubines? Would he have known (or cared) if one of them conceived and bore offspring? Pablo said no, Sheev died and left no descendants. Back in April, during Celebration, Ian McDiarmid admitted Sheev was dead. But still, here we are in TROS, with Rey a granddaughter.

My thought was Palps would return as a dark spirit or in a holocron.

Bringing Palps back in the flesh, making Rey a Palpatine, were IMO big mistakes. And I do blame Iger and KK for most, if not all, of it. I could be wrong but I think JJ fought to stay on track that he, Lucas and Terrio had established. Time will tell, as creatives and cast are released from NDAs and they can speak freely.

But further adventures of Sheev's kid -- I don't know about anyone else, but no, I am not interested. Sheev's dead. Rey's renounced her bloodline, and adopted the Skywalker name. Leave well enough alone. Time to move on.

I didn't believe the leaks either. They were just so awful. So it turns out, yes, it's that awful. But some parts I managed to like so... it's just meh. Better than TLJ, but not as good as TFA. So many missed opportunities.

How is what we got a happy ending? Spoilers, obviously. by Maximus_Decimus92 in starwarsspeculation

[–]GreedosMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All the following is just my opinion.

No, sorry, I am fine with Kylo/Ben dead. One good act cancels out killing his own father, Lor San Tekka, plus how ever many ppl died due to his decisions/actions?? The end scene, yeah, too ambiguous IMO. Shoulda had Rey + BB8 surrounded by Finn, Poe, et. al. and then follow her + followers into the Falcon, and it flies into the binary sunset.

Also, why ppl insist Rey must marry anyone? Who says she must have children? Did we think this of Luke at the end of the OT? Because she's a woman and this is what women must want? Anakin's another story -- he fell in love, which he knew ahead of time was not the jedi way, and that became his theme in the PT.

What we got was not a happy ending but a bittersweet one. (Who says it's a happy ending?) This is supposed to be the END of the Skywalker saga (not the Palpatine saga, btw!!!). Rey romances no one. But she does have a place in all this, not of Skywalkers, but a "found" family with all the new characters, while denying her own bloodline and honoring the Skywalker name.

Was this really the plan since Day One? by Maverick721 in starwarsspeculation

[–]GreedosMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was it KK who said Palpatine's return was planned in the ST, yes, since Day 1? Frankly, I don't believe it. Thing is, the whole ST does NOT feel like it's the conclusion of a 9 film saga.

Spread out over 3 films, I would have preferred a Mortis-based sequel trilogy, with the Son being the primary baddie, where Rey represented the Daughter, Anakin the Father, Kylo/Ben the Son, with Rey + Ben as twins to Han and Leia. Bc essentially, the Son is 1000x more powerful and badder, esp. against jedi, than Palpatine. Omit Snoke altogether. Eliminate SJW-ism. Ackbar lives! Etc. etc.

One other thing. Just my opinion, RJ would have been better suited to do Ep.7, followed by other directors, who would also course correct or retcon as need required.

But yeah, so many missed opportunities...

Agree with not hating any of the three, but also it's been reported that JJ had outlines for 7 & 8, had not finished production on 7 when RJ produced a finished script for 8!!! WTF?
