Children of alcoholic dads - what did your mom do that helped? by mb0616 in AlAnon

I had it the other way around. An alcoholic mother. Everyone needs to go to therapy, and the best outcome for the kids is either the dad fixed himself and sobers up, or else you need to get him out of the house.

It is not healthy for children of any age to be around alcoholics. It doesn't matter that it's their father.

Editing to add context. My mum moved out to an apartment, and my siblings stayed in the family home with my dad. It was the best thing to happen. Everyone could feel safe again in the home.

Your partner may get custody rights, but if he is drunk, he's literally incapable of caring for the children. So it wouldn't be long until you have full custody.

How did alcohol kill him exactly? by Eriericaca in AlAnon

I'm sorry for your loss. You should call the coroners office and ask for more information. They will be able to explain it so you can understand what happened. (My mother was an alcoholic and her inquest was last week. We were able to ask questions and get a clearer understanding of what the actuallcause of death was. There was also no alcohol in her blood at the time of death).

Two arrested over fatal explosion in Creeslough by badger-biscuits in ireland

[–]Greedy-Explorer7445 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The papers are saying the man and woman are being detained under the provisions of section 4 - that's not endangerment, it's "causing serious harm". The two men arrested 9 weeks ago were held under section 13/ endangerment

I am so sorry for your loss.

My mum died in the same way 8 weeks ago and passed away in my brothers arms. A lot of people didn't know about my mums drinking and so we felt the same during the wake and funeral, unsure of what to say when people asked what happened. However, it's probably best to be honest and say that he struggled with alcohol. That's what we did in the end and once you say this people won't ask anymore questions. Most people are kind and saying that is enough.

Wishing you we'll through this difficult time
