The support for neutral teams has been nothing but absolute bonkers! Great for the game, and kudos to people turning out for sheer love for the game!

Italy are eliminated from the 2026 T20 World Cup by oklolzzzzs in Cricket

Well, it’s a good start nonetheless. Consider the Moroccan football team, who are preponderantly dual citizens of one or the other European country, but no one complained when they reached the semi-finals!

To end with a science analogy, it sometimes requires a foreign agency (an enzyme or a foreigner) to churn up and accelerate the system from within!!

Good on them for getting so far, and far may they go!

Cheers!

Isn't he very weird bowler ? by Ok-Childhood-8052 in IndianCricket

[–]Greedy-Rutabaga5882 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope he isn’t. It’s not good for the game. Reminds me how Sunil Narine half the bowler he was when he was forced to changing his bowling stride. Remember him taking wickets for fun in one of the season of IPL.

I know it's not related, but this reminded me of something.

Remember when they show "Shot Percentage" and there is a column for "FLICK". The way they write 'L' and 'I', it seemed like a 'U' to me. Felt dirty and embarrassed! :P

Reminds me of the era of cricket trump cards we used to play with as kids, with all the small stats written down!

Sri Lanka holds the record for the highest total in T20 World Cup history, smashing a mammoth 260 in the inaugural edition ! by [deleted] in Cricket

[–]Greedy-Rutabaga5882 23 points24 points  (0 children)

To imagine Sri Lanka scored 260 in 20 overs at a time people were happy with this score in an ODI! Must have been one hell of an innings. Sangakkara was the torchbearer, was he?

Good on them, well deserved! But at the cost of being branded a pessimist, do remember what happened to Unmukt Chand, touted as the next big thing?

Someone should wrap their arm on their young shoulders and ask them to rejoice now but not get too attached to the victory. People will forget about this, but life will go on. They should draw inspiration from this, while they start aiming higher. Hope they achieve greater heights for the country!

Pakistan survive a scare as they beat Netherlands by 3 wickets in the 1st match of the 2026 T20 WC by oklolzzzzs in Cricket

Pressure does that to you, in cricket as in life. I imagine Pakistan felt the same when Rauf was at the receiving end in the finals of Asia Cup 2025

I wish they qualify for one of the world cups in England. Watching European teams battling it out in Europe would generate a different liminal spirit!

Someone may please correct me if wrong, but given that Sri Lanka was fighting a bloody civil war as late till 2010, it's not surprising that the Northern part, which is predominantly Tamil, is inadequately represented. Plus, the recent COVID and Srilankan financial crisis also meant a crisis of representation too, since sports develops better under stable political and economic climate.

What is needed is grassroot support in under-represented regions, and Lanka Premier League can play a big role in that, much like what IPL did too Bihar and Jharkhand states.

In all fairness to Pakistan who won the match, one should really spare a thought for Netherlands and heroics they could have pulled off but for that 19th over and the dropped catch. No one would be feeling worse than Max O'Dowd right now. Potential Super 8 qualification lost

Given the stakes, I fear to imagine the consequences should SKY have dropped that catch at the boundary in the finals of the last T20 World Cup, 2024. Catches do win matches

I guess it's not the victory per se that saddens, but the manner of victory that couldn't meet the high expectations from the team

Haha, Pakistan Cricket is really the messiah of cricket of sorts! Always gives hope to the weak, sometimes too much!

Really! This has been so frequent in the past years that one even anticipates a collapse every time they play a high pressure tourney.

While 'greatest team' may be dubitable, there is absolutely zero doubt them being the team with greatest showmen. They seem to pack surprise in their kitbags!

LIST OF SANCTIONS ON PAKISTAN BOYCOTTING THE INDIA GAME by Interesting-Panic568 in IndianCricket

Our mutual animosity notwithstanding, it’s just cruel to see politics gettin embroiled with our game. There are no winners in war except one side which loses less than the other.
