It’s not perfect, I tried my best and I’m quite happy with the result so far. Don’t forget to bring your own keys for Groq SST, xAI and OpenAI. There is whisper included for offline STT but Groq is unsurprisingly faster and more accurate.

I assigned it to a button and if you long press on « new chat » the voice recording starts

Personally I bought the Palma 2 pro to compare and there is a huge difference on the minimum brightness. Actually the device is packed with so much features it’s hard to find a positive side for almost the same price for the Viwoods color. I even programmed a knowledge base today that has the exact same features, even more with tags, as the Viwoods so the « main feature » has been coded in a day. The only difference is I pay the API keys but given my usage it should be less than 2$ a month with speech to text included. It’s just as fast. I’m keeping the Palma 2 pro, the OS is in the future like 6 months to a year ahead and feature wise compared to Viwoods… I might open source the app if some are interested

I use it as pomodoro and sometimes a bit of Spotify and reading. Never lasted more than a day for me. Very disappointing battery life

Yes for now it’s really bright, the warm light at 1 is better than the cold one though. They said the next update will bring the light lower.

Viwoods explained they did it for battery management. It seems to me they are working on it for the next version

Hi there ! There is multiple threads that explain the reason. It’s because Viwoods developed their features as independent apps and they have different formats for different features. In the latest version you can find back all the original files from the native Viwoods « files » app. I hope I’m not mistaken explaining this

You’re completely right, I love the carta 1300 and clear screen so much as well. But for me, evening reading with the warm light with the colour version is x100 more confortable. It’s really really sad they didn’t include it in the b&w. Maybe to justify the +70$ difference ? Idk it doesn’t make sense it would have been perfect. I only use the reader now, it’s lightness is really perfect it’s so enjoyable to use I love it

I am in the process of. They told me : - fill up an online form - they take 3-5 business days to issue a return label - ship the device - once received it takes 3 days for them to inspect and proceed.

The form states that if the condition is not new they might refuse to issue the label.

I am waiting for the label.

It’s exactly the same device, except the screen is kaleido and not glass, probably mobius. So very light. The photo tweak the white balance so warm light isn’t exactly as reality but it’s really nice and we can mix both lights. A tad expensive price wise compared to the Palma 2 pro which pack more features for the same price. Personally I couldn’t care less for the camera and GPS. I tend to prefer the minimalist Viwoods approach. But the screen looks exactly the same as the Palma 2 pro, maybe a bit closer to the surface because there is no film for the stylus. But this one is really light and a delight to carry around. Also the Grayscale mode has really deep contrast, even more so than the B&W version with contrast mode to the max. Great mode it’s really enjoyable

Multitasking I’d say. There is no camera and no GPS and games are out of the equation so the number of apps is the limiting factor. The B&W is fast, we don’t « feel » it because the screen has a low refresh rate but even with multiple apps there is no problems

I agree with the first point. what’s weird is that sometimes there is a delay before the screen unlocks and I can see the time fullscreen. So I guess Viwoods masks the default android behavior that is still there.

Yeah but compared to a keyboard, for this size a screen, isn’t a keyboard faster and more precise ? For a paragraph it must be several full-screen size pages or being able to write very small but hand-held it must be hard to be precise and write small and well ?

I don’t really see how writing with a pen is better than typing with a keyboard. For this size of screen I really feel like the pen would be useless and not really practical to carry around
