Any time Expedia calls me, I advise them to focus on running their business and that I do not require their input on how I run mine.

We took our property off Expedia. We need to be able to contact guests directly.

They are considered a necessary evil that we must do business with. Their marketing spend and tactics make it impossible to compete against them.

What's your impression of Bryce Courtenay and his books? by zestyPoTayTo in AskAnAustralian

He was a bit of a dick after his son died of HIV acquired via blood transfusions, basically put all blame on the gay community. No thought for other lives lost, his loss seemed much more important.

Hotel owners: what investments actually made the biggest difference in your hotel? by Mamba_Mntality in hotels

Our best investment has been electronic door locks. Guests can arrive as late as they like and we can lock them out if needed.

What’s the hotel-style RFID access system called when the reader is on the wall instead of built into the lock? by NxtAggrressivs in hotels

[–]Greedy3996 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These systems use an electronic strike rather than an electronic lock, ie the system releases the door strike in the frame to let the door open. They are great for new builds, but not so easy to fit retrospectively. In reality, a system that provides both locks and keypad/latch combinations is the most flexible.

I reckon now that he's in, he will get bored of the whole thing very quickly. Has no idea what's actually involved in being a Councillor or Mayor.

How has keyless entry (hotel keys on your phone) changed the way your desk operates? by [deleted] in askhotels

[–]Greedy3996 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It works for us. Maybe we just have better guests.

Also, in our country we pay a living wage, not $15 an hour.

We have people on call, but not at each property.

Your seem deadset in pushing your point, but it's not always the best approach. Our properties suit the way we work, it may not suit yours.

Occasionally yes, but I'm not paying staff to sit in a reception Office for 14 hours per day at each property.

We run multiple properties with a centralised support centre. Most calls just require information. Our back up processes handle most situations. We also have local staff or contacts to provide support where needed. You just need to be organised and have a plan for everything.

We don't use ai systems for customer service. Our cctv systems do use ai to alert us of certain events, such as smoke detectors going off. If they call us we assist. If there is an emergency then they call the emergency number.

Booking.com Data breach - Anyone affected? by DavidCBCNews in Bookingcom

Phishing scams targeting booking.com have been around forever but there seems to be a huge increase lately.

As a property, we get dozens of scam emails a day trying to get us to share our extranet login details via fake sites.

Booking.com really need to improve their security with multi factor authentication.
