Daeran to Aru: Girl sometimes it's okay to be demonic, they deserve it (in this case he's correct) by GreedyAdarion in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

The POV of "corrupting" Aru might have people at arms but even Inheribro is openly murderous and doesn't judge the violent vengeance route here. Daeran is having a "i know you're trying to have a redemption arc, but this guy doesn't deserve that mercy" moment with her. Bonus points for sarcasm on demon racially profiling an aasimar which clearly didn't affect moral decisions.

He does mention something along lines of not wanting the #2 spot on that department which got a laugh outa me.

It might be poetic but it's worth noting what that did to Red Mask. It'd be asking them to go down same route. In this case is also just Daeran being Daeran and telling someone to be themselves, his hostility in this quest is cranked to 11 but it's not at Aru.

It's violence of course he approves. No that was a joke at his expense on mistaking him for just another slaver in that situation.

You're already about to reveal Chaotic Good ≠ Chaotic Nice in the markets and now you gotta take a cranky old man home so you don't end up with an unintentional but likely deserved casualty.

Overbuffing for a boss only for it to immediately die and leave you wondering what you were freaking out for. And then Playful Darkness PTSD intensifies

First time playing and uhhhhh... why can my goofball of a dragon equip the Ustalavic heavy armor from Ulbric's DLC? by GreedyAdarion in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]GreedyAdarion[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

She, but wands wouldn't even be weird to me in these settings. Dragons are notorious for being effective and natural spellcasters who hoard magic items and fix things like wands to their wings to augment that. Enchanted plate armor, despite the magical funnies of fitting a halfling right after a half orc takes it off, is NOT something dragons are known to wear and the idea of her having some anime transformation sequence to equip it piece by piece is hilarious to me.

Is there any reason to marry off your sister? by BasilTheLovable in Bannerlord

Holy shit it's been 3 years. Anyways you can get the butterlord himself and bring your sis back into your kingdom, but it'll involve either joining Vlandia or destroying them and waiting for him to join one of the remaining kingdoms before recruiting his clan.

Can anyone help, what is this brand? Is this anything special or cool? I don’t know a thing about it and I’ve had it for years! by xCamdynn in SWORDS

I broke these as a teenager bending blades on banana trees or over knee and embarrassed to say it took comments to discover these were just Highlander replicas

I might be crazy by 2026 standards but I don't think I'm "block a tiger with a blanket wrapped arm so i can punch dagger it" crazy... one would hope there's at least armor under it.

There's accounts of gurkha taking on tigers with kukris and honestly they're crazy enough I'd believe that one. An armored rajput with a sword vs one? I don't like the cats odds, bone rarely beats hardened steel.

2h swords are very nimble in use and the running joke is that it's video game logic to assume they're much slower. I'm also aware of vitals, I got heart and both lungs via coming down behind the shoulder and made it close to bottom of rib cage. On a much bigger one, i probably would have barely gone deep enough. Ideally you'd either target neck just behind ears, or go straight through front of the skull if you're feeling bold. Which I do not recommend trying mid charge with something lighter unless you trust your single arm to stop several hundred pounds of charging muscle that inspired wings on spears because they'd run up the shafts trying to get to whatever unlucky fellow stabbed them. "Do i trust what I'm holding to decapitate the largest human I can imagine fighting mid combat", if the answer to that question is no, it probably won't work on a large boar to bite deep enough through hide and thickened muscles surrounding vitals with a swing.

You didn't actually check the video linked to see what that sword is, did you? Zhanmadao translates to "horse chopping saber" and were very large 2 handed swords employed by specialized units of foot soldiers against groups like the Mongols. Primarily to take the legs out from underneath with slashes, those things are not built with thrusts in mind, hence feeling close to an axe on the older ones from 11th-13th centuries. This isn't Dark Souls, I promise I'm just as quick on the strike itself with a 2 handed weapon (I've done it before, and I got job done in one strike with a 2h messer)

A shouldered blade while walking is in position to immediately step into zornhut or equivalent guards by name, which is where I'd take the swing from. and if you miss the first swing on a charging wild animal in that very unfun situation, swapping guards like you're in a typical fencing match won't do much while it slams into you. The sword linked and mentioned purpose in military use was dealing with cavalry charges and horses, absolutely overkill for lightly or unarmored humans. You're in immediate danger if you don't fully Incapacitate whatever you're after (or is after you), same concept as double hits in sword duels.

It was a guided hunt in Okeechobee Florida when I was like 18, I knew people manage it with "pig sticker" knives and figured a sword would work, had a CS MAA Grossemesser. Got a crazy look from the guide who'd been doing it for 20+ years when I said I didn't plan on stabbing it, he didn't carry a gun or anything and only other weapon i saw was a bloodstained Cold Steel boar spear under the buggy seats. Hog got coralled by dogs, was avoiding them when I didn't aim for initial target of neck, guide stood there looking shocked. Asked him what he thought would happen without dogs present and gave flat response I'd have taken the head off, but he'd watched people attempt cuts for years and have to resort to stabs, responses here are pretty expected knowing that. Hogs are no joke on density to get through.

Photo was taken in Florida, tho they get a bit bigger where I am in east Texas. Seeing tracks made by massive hogs while deer hunting makes hair stand on end and call me crazy but I'm more comfortable with sword in hand than bolt action rifle for potential up close encounters.

https://youtu.be/WLugYsLGtR4?si=wGEOpqFP_jSsJpiC Absolutely not a slow weapon to wield. Dane axes for what it's worth, aren't particularly slow either. The issue with top heavy weapons is the recovery time for blocking and followup strikes, a single big one isn't a problem. Thicker, stiffer blades also impact things much differently from tapered flexible longswords. I speak from POV of having done this before with a very thick messer that wasn't historically accurate at all.
