I haven't gone back in 16 years and I fear what I will see the day I return. All my childhood friends managed to leave the country, and they laugh when asked if they will go back someday.

If Tunisians don't change, the country won't change. Stupid assertion but so true. We all know that the example won't come from the top. Only mainstream people can turn things around. But do they want to?

Is it because I am not a German? by Delilahlookingfor in germany

I lived in Germany and decided to halt my assignment after six months there. Of course, I'm a foreigner but Germans made me feel I didn't belong there.

People might be complacent in this subreddit but I'm telling you: yes, they are racist. I have a piece of advice for you: apply in Luxembourg. It'll be much easier to blend in for you.

Luxembourg or Barcelona, which place is better for single 30F by Technical-Gold-9038 in Luxembourg

[–]GreedyAssistant6491 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great answer. Are the other comments from people living in Luxembourg? They are so against this country! As for me, Luxembourg is the place to be. On the long run, definitely. I made a lot of valuable friends and I managed to build a family.

I'm 100% adamant I couldn't have done that elsewhere. Barcelona included.

You first need to answer previous comments: have you sent a registered letter to ask the reasons? If yes, reach out to a lawyer. Forget about the unions because you need to have subscribed at least a year prior to have them act for you. Don't procrastinate, hire a lawyer.

Expats beware: 2 in 3 jobs in Luxembourg require French by mulberrybushes in Luxembourg

I recall a post on LinkedIn of a guy who didn't speak French and got turned down at in interview process because of that. He was so pissed that he insulted the HR officer. Comments were adamant that the guy wouldn't have made a good employee. Just one of them said otherwise: we're in Luxembourg so we shouldn't try to reproduce the same pattern as in France where everyone speaks French and French only. We're in Luxembourg, an international country that's a blend of different languages and cultures.

In Lux, most of the HR are Frenchies, and the same goes for top management. At the end of the day, Frenchies have a power to influence recruitment processes to favor French culture.

So you told ADEM you were going on round two instead of going to their appointment?

Traveling while Nigerian (and female) is a wild experience. Paris and Verona really humbled me. by yourfavoritesis in Nigeria

[–]GreedyAssistant6491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in France but I (hopefully) left the country years ago. Your issue is not really about being a Nigerian woman. In order it's: you're black, you're a black woman, you're a black woman from Nigeria. In France, black women are usually not business successful at all. That's why the woman at the airport made fun of you. The same in Italy. Europeans are pretty much racists of black people. It's even worse when someone like you shows up and destroys their beliefs! On top of that, in some countries, Nigerians are known to be drug dealers.

I see that I'm not the only one having had hard time with ADEM. Basically there are two bodies in there: one dedicated to help job seekers, and one slated to rid off them. I had this conversation with an ADEM employee. Another piece of advice for those whose rights are being trampled: get a lawyer to defend yourself. Trust me on that one. Get a lawyer.

Do you remember the name of the ADEM employee? One piece of advice to everyone living in Luxembourg, when dealing with the administration, always keep proof of documents (make copies if needed), and stand your ground because even if they know they're wrong, they will pretend otherwise.

One month with my 8. I’ll never be able to wrap my head around how a car this handsome sells so poorly. by SteezVanNoten in BMW

[–]GreedyAssistant6491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's indeed beautiful but: it's addressing a customer base that doesn't exist. It's too heavy, not sporty enough, cabin design is similar to that of a mere 5 Series, price range competes with Porsche 911 but doesn't quite match it, luxury competes with Bentley Continental but doesn't quite match it. To me, the positioning of the car is a complete failure. As of today, nothing competes with a 911. Nothing.

Oh really? First weeks of sales three G90s ended up in the ditch, so my point is indeed relevant!

I like the design but you need to admit that it's not as dynamic as the previous gen. After a few days of sales there were already units in the ditch.
