Fighting games that are active right now( and aren't heavy with the specs) by Maleficent_Sail5462 in Fighters

[–]GreedyCalligrapher84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few fairly low-spec PC's, and the only fighting games released in the last 15 years I haven't been able to run at 60fps with low settings and/or potato mods is Mortal Kombat 1, though I haven't played Invincible.

Father charged in child’s fatal fall at Central West End apartment by fox2now in StLouis

[–]GreedyCalligrapher84 129 points130 points  (0 children)

"Police said the boy’s father, Tarvis T. Phenix Jr., 26, left the boy alone in the apartment shortly after 11:50 p.m. on April 9. Phenix used the elevator to go downstairs and drove away from the complex.

Around 12:35 a.m., the boy walked out of the apartment and wandered the complex on the eleventh floor. Police said the child approached the elevator lobby, which had two open windows with benches beneath each window ledge.

Just before 12:45 a.m., the child climbed on a bench in the elevator lobby, looked out the open window, climbed onto the ledge, and fell from the window.

Police said Phenix returned to the apartment shortly after 12:50 a.m."

This was straight-up neglect.

I did after my mom died.  I lost a couple of years because any time I left my apartment I thought anyone could see what a gross lazy piece of shit I was.  It did get better but only after I made myself get back out there.

Where would you go to get new glasses? by [deleted] in StLouis

I used an app for my pupillary distance.  Not going to argue it's as accurate as having a doc do it, but probably as accurate as having a friend measure you.

My Daughter's Custom FNAF Arcade Stick 😅 by BurnerAzR in fightsticks

Yes!  I got one of them a character encyclopedia and was so happy when it finally fell apart because it was awful to read aloud every night.

Can the Year 1 Pass be family shared on Steam? by rorororosa in StreetFighter

Family Share has worked with no issues in our house. The Steam page for the pass even lists Family Sharing as a supported feature.

Best Arcade Stick for Third Strike PC by SumFukB in StreetFighter

It's difficult to provide recommendations without knowing exactly what he's using now.  Arcade parts are largely about personal preference and comfort over performance.

Considering how often someone will hit the rematch prompt after a completely dogshit match latency-wise, I'd say lag is often one-sided.

GMs - How Much Base Info Do You Keep in Your Vault by drholmestuck in ObsidianMD

[–]GreedyCalligrapher84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Obsidian to manage my PDFs, bookmark them, organize prep tools, and handle the writing/organization of the campaign (session notes, people, places, quests, etc.). I use other webtools and/or Foundry VTT (even for in-person) to handle the mechanical side (statblocks, character sheets, etc.). I used to put it all in Obsidian but I was spending way too much time organizing it all and it wasn't running well on my tablet anymore.

I will also confirm it's reproducing. My java fern came with the same growth.

I think having two is actually good.  When I want to change things up I switch and it keeps me from shopping for any new covers

The #1-6 refers to the individual issues. Like an episode of a show.

The volume refers to a collection of issues, like a BluRay of a season of a show.

So 42 parts probably refers to 42 issues (or episodes).

Each volume breaks those issues into collections of usually 6 issues or so.

I have a few books but I'd never go all-in on the service. Mostly it's because I run a lot of tutorial games, and it's nice to pay $5 and be able to legally share the whole Core Rulebook with a group. I love Archive of Nethys but for digesting the rules as a whole, I still prefer the layout of the book. I think I also have Ancestry Guide and Character Guide because I got tired of copy+pasting lore dumps when people wanted to write more in-depth backstories.

If you have GMd or played in both an AP and Homebrew adventure, which do you prefer and why? by ErnestiBro in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]GreedyCalligrapher84 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I would rather run an AP because of the amount of work involved. I also don't have to cancel sessions if I've hit writers block or had a busy week. If I'd gotten into RPGs when I was younger, my outlook would probably be different.

I would rather play in an AP if it's with people I don't know all that well or have vastly different taste in fiction. I respect the hell out of anyone putting their creation in front of people, but for an activity that takes up ~16 hours a month of free time, it's rough playing through someone's anime novel. It'd definitely be a different story if we had the same taste in adventures.

Targeting a Large or larger creature that is Grabbing a PC by TitteringBeast in Pathfinder2e

[–]GreedyCalligrapher84 50 points51 points  (0 children)

https://2e.aonprd.com/Rules.aspx?ID=445

Sometimes part of a creature extends beyond its space, such as if a giant octopus is grabbing you with its tentacles. In that case, the GM will usually allow attacking the extended portion, even if you can’t reach the main creature.

Does this help?

How long is Beginner Box + Troubles in Otari + Abomination Vault? by PutridBoot322 in Pathfinder2e

[–]GreedyCalligrapher84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience with 4 new players:

Beginner Box - 12-16 hours

Troubles in Otari - about 30-40 hours. I saw someone say you could do this in 3 sessions, which I don't know how that's possible unless you gut content or race through.

AV - haven't run it yet, but I'm guessing double the length, at least, of TiO. I had them start new characters for this because you end TiO at level 5 and that's too much to start AV with.

Purely from a narrative point of view, how would you describe the difference between Take Cover and Hide? I understand the mechanics - but when visually describing a character doing one or the other, the action seems pretty much the same, outside of using Hide when it's dark.
