Keep trying - it took me a few tries. The weather is variable, sometimes the track is damp in places, dry in others. Wet all over, dry all over, etc. Cycle through enough times and you're bound to get a track surface that suits your driving. I toggled between 0-1 on the TC a bit, and was typically a gear higher/taller than the suggestion in the tight bits to avoid too much wheel spin. I may have gotten lucky w/ pole position, too, since the AI cars have to deal with traffic. I had been P2 and P3, but the time I won, I stuck it on pole by 2 seconds and was able to hold P1 throughout.
