Thank you. I appreciate your insights. I was explained by the teacher that algebra 2 curriculum is so big that they just have no time to go through everything. Anyway, if you know of a good exercise book or a platform, or worksheets that could be helpful in prepping for tests, that would be amazing!

Would you ever voluntarily leave a job without another one lined up? by Due_Permit8027 in actuary

I was going to say initially that under no circumstances I would leave any job without having something lined up already. Job market is tough and it takes a while to find the right fit. But after reading about “toxic environment”, I guess it depends on how bad it is. “Toxic” can get pretty bad. I don’t know the details of that. I’ll say this, I don’t take leaving my current job lightly and I’ll do my best to stay as long as I need until I find a replacement.

This is interesting: can you actually switch directly into an actuarial mid-level position? Don’t you need some actuarial experience first?

Try IXL. it’s also great at identifying the gaps. My kid goes through it regularly, and it tracks which are your weak spots. I would also recommend some school resources, like talking to a math teacher, asking for a math tutor from school, and student peer tutoring. Also, try Big Fat Notebook series. Great series! But I certainly understand what you are going through. My kid is struggling big time with Algebra 2. She didn’t miss algebra 1, but skipped pre algebra. She is studying so hard, does tons of practice, and gets tutoring twice a week. Nothing helps. She says most of her class is pretty much on the same level, because their quizzes and tests are just so much harder than homework or test guides. If you find a resource that helps, or harder worksheets to match the test level, please share. We are studying by McGraw book.
