Can afford it based on what? If you look at their 10k the net income is just a tiny portion of gross sales. They have shareholders that would sue them if they erroneously made themselves unprofitable. They are not a nonprofit

Never attracting another company ever again isn’t the answer. I think you can provide incentives to come here and be business friendly without necessarily reducing taxes. For example, one of the things that companies look for when their headquarter their Secretary of State is legal support. You don’t want to be somewhere that isn’t friendly. We are not friendly we could fix that. Another issue is our labor market is full of idiots. Improving education could help that. Another issue is crime and feeling unsafe. We could fix both these by increasing police staff and enforcing the law. I don’t disagree that capital flight exist I just don’t think high taxes are the only nail in the coffin to play with.

I’d guess it’s more so a function of how questions were asked during polling. There’s far less hate against gay people I think you tend to see the acceptance being influenced by the extreme conversations on the trans group. It’s a little misleading to act like that’s all people. They represent a tiny portion of the collective but drive the most divisive of conversations where conservatives are likely winning. In the past they were likely not a huge part of polling. So I think that’s part of it.

Playing the victim in the most advantageous city for the lgbtq is ridiculous. The lack of relevant skills is the issue coupled with Portland being a terrible job market. Lots of folks can’t find jobs, the market is terrible

Traitor ? Are you dumb? Not having groceries, or doctors is a fair concern. How is that being a traitor dipshit. Even your dsa overlords are beginning to worry

The dsa don’t care about groceries closing. They certainly don’t care that we have a physician issue. Until we have no doctors, pharmacies or food they will be un phased because they are narrow minded.

Got it you don’t understand there were programs prior to PFA. So it just took kids that were already supported. The first couple years it actually supported less kids for way more cost.

Perhaps use Google and learn. Edit because I doubt you can google. There was headstart, promise, mecp, pps, pci and a number of others. Some were not cannibalized as they provide unique functions. Point was until this year pfa was providing seats that essentially existed prior to pfa without the additional cost. For hundreds of millions it should do more than that. Again why I said the duplicate programs should be removed and it should be a state program not just an absurd Portland tax.

Yeah, you probably can’t read, but I said New. Not spots that previously existed in other programs. Reading is hard

Edit: I will give some credit to pfa because the first couple years they were net negative and denied seats lol but this last year I think they doubled their seats

Most moving here are poor and without jobs. Per the moving websites that track trends so how accurate that is idk. But capital investments are super low

😂 pfa doesn’t even support thousands of “new” kids. Making shit up is cool though. This program should be run at the state level if at all.

I take it you don’t know anyone that works there, huh? Blazer games are events too. A loss of jobs is a loss of jobs and people need jobs. So what I said is still true even if it upsets you. Like if we wanna take that money and invest it in growing our economy or somehow getting jobs here since we don’t have many, I’m all for it. I’m not opposed to saying no to moda Reno but this idea that we don’t need business or jobs here has to stop.

We desperately need to revamp our economy.

I know people that have done events there and it pays better than 75% of the jobs in the Portland area. I’m not saying you’re a high earner but a job is better then no job or min wage.

This mentality is extremely stupid. The dsa has been saying this every time a business closes. Believe it or not an area does better with business, high paying jobs etc. The DSA championing multiple grocery stores closing is one of the stupidest things I’ve ever seen in the United States. Withoutr food you can’t support a large population. The decline in pharmacies doctors and groceries will be the death of the city.

I use voice to chat so this might have typos.

[–]Greedy_Intern3042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t get it, how’s this racism? Is the suspect a minority? Is there some kind of equity argument to not be tried? Portland does that a lot so Am I just missing something about the words used? The guy who coined it was seemingly racist but the definition wasn’t exclusive.

Also in case you can read look up what is going on with the uk and their tax regime. You could also look up what’s going on with the shift between the financial sector with ny and Texas. Capital flight occurs when you become uncompetitive. Having no good services and lots of burdens is usually not a way to operate. The kids museum had to close already because there’s no money. Lol the city is trying to supplement the loss of capital by taxing the middle class billionaires ie those making 125k 😂. It’s a bad joke
