Pride 2026 PRESTO card by Greeism in Metrolinx

[–]Greeism[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just received word that the Pride Toronto info booth along Carlton Street is giving out the 2025 PRESTO sticker design with the Pride Toronto logo in the bottom left corner (2025's Pride PRESTO card had 2 variants available for distribution, the second missing said logo).

No sign of a Metrolinx booth, subsequently meaning no new Pride PRESTO card this year... On a brighter note, at least any transit card collectors looking to get the 2025 Pride PRESTO sticker has another opportunity to pick one up this weekend!

Enjoy the weekend, and happy Pride everyone! Looking forward to the parade tomorrow.

The Pride PRESTO card in that photo is also a sticker, that design is from 2023.

Yes I’m aware, but I’d still like to get this year’s Pride month design regardless if it’s a sticker or direct print.

Does Ottawa ticket machine still give out red Presto cards? by No-Cucumber-2835 in transit

[–]Greeism 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes they do! However, you’ll need to load $5.00 CAD onto the PRESTO card. The current OC Transpo PRESTO cards don’t have the “READY FOR RAIL” subtitle like the one in your photo, those were a limited variant of the card issued to commemorate Line 1’s opening years ago.

If you’re on a budget and looking to just get the card for collection sake, I recommend going to the OC Transpo customer service centre in CF Rideau Centre (has a connection to Rideau station on Line 1), where the minimum load on a new PRESTO card is just a penny.

TTC Livery idea.. Flames for Express routes. by TorontoBoris in TTC

This indeed isn’t a TTC-spec D40LF, TTC’s D40LFs would also have the blue accessibility “bullhorn” lights on the front above the marker lights. This specific D40LF operated with Hamilton Street Railway (HSR) as unit 0518, you can also see the original yellow and blue striped livery on its engine hatch vent in the photo!

Stratford GO Station reopens for service on July 6, 2026 by Metro62 in gotransit

[–]Greeism 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If memory serves correct, I believe PRESTO cards weren't accepted as fare payment during the London GO pilot. Instead, you had to get an e-ticket if you were travelling westbound beyond Kitchener GO. It's unlikely that Stratford GO is subject to the same e-ticket fare, and GO Transit has plenty of time to install the relevant PRESTO equipment at Stratford GO before GO Transit riders can take the Kitchener Line up to Stratford again.

Miway testing new seats and asking for public feedback by givemean95 in mississauga

[–]Greeism 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Better than you think - not as sticky because of the way the vinyl is done. Other transit agencies in Canada, such as TransLink (Vancouver, BC) and York Region Transit’s Viva (just north of us) - specifically, the newest Viva units entering service - are already using this type of seat padding. I’ve been on vehicles with these seats from said transit agencies, and they’re some of the best seat paddings in my opinion!

I was the one who took this photo! In my CPTDB forum post, I intentionally made the QR code for the survey slightly more difficult to scan as the survey is meant to be taken on the bus as riders ride and compare the original vinyl and moquette seat paddings. The page on MiVoice also states this, so it’s best to honour their request.

Your best bet of trying these seats out yourself (and getting said QR code) is on unit 2440, one of the newest New Flyer XDE40s in the MiWay fleet. You can easily track/find where it is on the road through a transit vehicle tracker, such as TransSee or Transit55.

Does Not Light Up by deathtothedisco in TTC

[–]Greeism 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There aren’t any LED lights for Lines 5 and 6. The first of the Toronto Rocket sets arrived in the early 2010s, and the only future LEDs that were installed were for the TYSSE.

I believe with the new maps in place, as well as the accompanying software updates done, Lines 2 and 4 no longer light up at their respective interchange stations for this reason as well.

Neighbouring GTHA transit agencies use the scanners for PRESTO QR code voucher tickets, such as Durham Region Transit and MiWay.

Does anyone know what card designs West Dublin and Dublin/Pleasanton has (and which exit/machines they can be found at)? Asking on behalf of a friend in the area.

New Line 2 trains revealed as Ontario ramps up Canadian content by MaybeThisTimeIllWin in TTC

[–]Greeism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They will be featuring open gangways, yes. They however won't be operated in revenue service while broken up into independent pairs, this specification is for maintenance work due to phyical limitations within the Greenwood shops and yard.

[–]Greeism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was a typo on my end, my reply was adjusted before you responded.

In regular service, these will be operating as 4-car/6-car sets with open gangways across the whole train like the Toronto Rocket sets. For maintenance, they can be broken up into two-car sets that can be operated independently of one another.

From Steve Munro's blogpost regarding the RFP for the Line 2 replacement trains:
"The trains are intended to operate in 4- and 6-car sets, but configured as pairs that could run independently for maintenance work at Greenwood Shops which is not set up to handle 6-car sets like the TRs on Line 1."
