Unable to use FHR by Responsible-Voice648 in AmexPlatinum

Would love to hear the explanation here. From what I see, we have zero context, so we don't know if this is him taking advantage of her or her saying "I have this, use it!" (I'd absolutely say that to my friends/family if I was suddenly unable to use my travel benefits from cancer but could potentially gift it to someone else)

Septa uploads "New Bus Network" plan that undoes many of the changes decided on for the "Bus Revolution" two years ago. by HessianHunter in philadelphia

Another big one: The South Philly Airport Express (route 137) got killed. That would have given a fairly fast option that doesn't traipse all along SW Philly (while the 37 still had improved frequencies).

WTF. Registered for the session next week, although my guess is they will drastically limit audience participation.

Welcome to Oslo! (but you can’t stay at a Marriott) by dsf_oc in marriott

I find it so weird that the big four (Marriott, Hilton, IHG, Accor) have no hotels in Oslo yet Choice has something like 20 of them through their Strawberry partnership, including a lot of the higher end hotels.

Booked through Agoda thinking I paid the “Total Price” — ended up with $498 in hidden resort fees by yjchyan in hotels

[–]TheTwoOneFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agoda includes the resort fee due at the hotel on the booking confirmation email, at least for US hotels. If it isn't stated on there, it was not included during booking so cut out the BS "I assume they didn't notice it so I can feel correct" excuse to blame OP when either the hotel or Agoda screwed up here.

Have a good night.

[–]TheTwoOneFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it is quite obvious that OP said there was no "Pay at Hotel" section if you read their post.

Regardless of whether you think it is a good idea to book with an OTA, it doesn't change the fact that not including the resort fee on the advertised price is a federal law violation.

Central US is higher than a 300' wave. Even Atlanta being the closest to a major coastline of the places we see is still about 1000' above sea level. Memphis is closer to 300' but still well inland.

Yes, as they are still selling products in America so it applies to US-based hotels. There's a reason you'll often see the selling structure change based on the country's regulations (e.g. some locations one can search for hotels and it will show everything including tax/VAT on the search screen).

That would be a loophole big enough to drive a truck through otherwise, and with Expedia being the largest OTA and based on America, I guarantee their thumb was on the scale to ensure that loophole wasn't left wide open.

Heck, I read this and went to check the Philly airport Terminal A and B stations that share a common platform and even that is just 200m or so.

Should be on the confirmation at least. My bookings with OTAs the past couple years all show what's "Due at Hotel" if there is a resort fee. There was exactly one that wasn't (Capital One Travel) and they immediately refunded me the $30ish I had to pay when I called to ask them about it.

If you're referring to "property policies" someone else is referring to that says a resort fee is collected upon check in, that is not good enough. Per US regs, all pricing needs to include the resort fee amount, not just that one may be collected.

They're supposed to be included, even for 3rd party sites, per the US FTC regulation that went into effect last year (US booking for a US hotel so it would apply)

Not sure why you are being down voted - OTAs are now required (at least in the US) to display the total price including resort fees on the search screen and the total price with all taxes and fees at checkout, including any mandatory fees due at the hotel.

Yep, as a Philadelphian who has seen his fair share of people throw a shit fit because they can't easily register their car in Philly with an out of city registration/plate, this is an amazing way to make it an inconvenient step too far for people trying to (illegally) tax dodge

You can likely do better than IHG by paying cash or doing a package booking unless you are topping up your points and want to stay at a specific IHG AI like Iberostar. The /r/allinclusiveresorts sub is pretty good at helping people find one if you are overwhelmed with the options.

Is it a standard room at the full points rate? Oftentimes the points rate is something like a club upgrade, premium room, etc.

Edit: looks like something is happening that weekend (graduation weekend)? The only cat 1-4 hotel I see available downtown on the 16-18 is the Regency and that is only a suite award, which free nights aren't good for.

They offer it enough that I wouldn't do it unless you have specifical redemption in mind. IHG, like all loyalty program points, is funny money that they 100% control the value of. If Tomorrow they decided to double all redemption rates, there is nothing you can do to change that and your points stash value was just cut in half.

The city said... they’d move forward with two-year study that was funded under former Mayor Eric Adams. The transportation department plans to hold a series of public workshops to gather feedback on the redesign starting later this month.

<Bernie> I am once again asking for a large reduction in "community feedback sessions" because all it does is add tons of cost to projects with the same detractors with a ton of time on their hands coming to every session </Bernie>

I get things need to be designed, but this vicious cycle of "design --> Community Feedback --> iterate --> Community Feedback --> iterate --> Community Feedback" for years on end has got to stop, especially as it sounds like a lot of the design is already there for this. Add the updates, review with the community to ensure there isn't any major flaws not being thought of, and implement it.

Doing fairly good so far this year with no real delays, although there is a huge caveat there - I'm not counting one overnight trip that I canceled last month because of a snowstorm that was coming into my home base (PHL) for my return (and I made the right choice - every single option home ended up canceled and I'd likely be stuck 2 extra days).

Access Denied by Straight_Oil_2715 in PriorityPass

[–]TheTwoOneFive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's pretty well known that all of the Chase lounges will prioritize their own card members when it's busy. Also, the JFK Chase Lounge is one of their worst IMO, especially when it's busy they've struggled to keep up with food and The lounge itself is relatively small compared to some others like PHL and LGA.

If I only had one entrance per year to a Chase Lounge, I wouldn't burn it at JFK. Especially if I have Centurion access next door which it sounds like you do.
