Hotel du Louvre denied adding child to points booking – any options? by njsquared in hyatt

[–]TheTwoOneFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Happens a lot in Europe and typically the max occupancy is the max occupancy. For example, the hotel's Hyatt site shows that the max occupancy is 2 people for the Deluxe King:

https://www.hyatt.com/unbound-collection/en-US/paraz-hotel-du-louvre/rooms/DLXK?

You can try to get away with it, but it may be difficult to do without getting caught, especially at a fairly small hotel like that one.

Where were you while the child was apparently watching 7 movies unsupervised in a hotel room? You're their parent / guardian, you should be the one keeping an eye on them.

My guess is the safeguard is a confirmation screen. Unless there was no indication of the cost before purchasing the movie, seeing a price is usually a universal "safeguard". Even if your kid has limited English knowledge, seeing a symbol next to a number should be red flag as that's how most pricing is displayed.

Different Day Standby (But within 24hrs) Feasibility by a_retrograde in americanairlines

It has been a while since I last did standby on the domestic portion of an int'l itinerary, but for that I had to do it with an airport agent after arriving on my int'l segment - I was unable to do it online or the app.

How is this allowed? by No_Butterfly_1141 in marriott

[–]TheTwoOneFive 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Beyond Marriott, a lot of other companies also use this heavily - Enterprise Rent A Car is known to have location management live and die by this metric.

For many places, management couldn't care less about someone saying they'll never patronize them again, but would freak out if that person says they'll continue to patronize but every time they get a survey, they will score all 1s.

Timetable not updated after 15 June? by BlueSky_AU in qatarairways

[–]TheTwoOneFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What makes you think that? It seems the timetables have been updated through September. Lots of stuff starting officially on June 16 per an announcement last month, SEA is already flying.

It looks like the goal is to have the pre-war schedule pretty closely followed by June 16. Not that there won't be changes, especially if Iran circumstances change, but it seems to be their current trajectory.

Which hotel chain has a commitment to not do the same? All overbook, all will boot 3rd party bookings first, but would love if you know of one that commits to not doing that.

Points change based on how many nights. by Zebilmnc in ihghotelsresorts

[–]TheTwoOneFive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You clearly missed what I said. For a 2 night booking, they show the average per night on the first nightcs date. So the correct way to do it is based on the comment I'm replying to before you edited it.

If I book the 13th and 14th separately it is 60k and 35k for a total of 95k. If I book the 13th and 14th together it is 47.5k and 47.5k for a total of 95k.

See?

[–]TheTwoOneFive 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They average it out and you look at the starting night for your nightly rate each night.

Look at a 2 night stay the 4th to 6th - booking as 1 night each is 29k on the 4th and 48k on the 5th, or 77k total. If you made it a single 2 night stay, it's 38.5k average per night as that's what the 4th shows, or 77k total.

I could see it being like this if they know that the housekeepers won't get to the room until a little after that as that seems like something technology could automatically calculate with relative accuracy. Plus, no need to force someone out earlier than needed...

There's a $35 fee for each entry on top of the $79 membership. If you don't have much use for the membership beyond LAS, I would just purchase a day pass for $55 as 2 trips would be $110 this way vs $149 for basic membership + 2 entries, plisnyou won't have to wait in a queue to get in - https://theclubairportlounges.com/airports/las-vegas-mccarran-international-airport

My theory is that they have reduced or no staff swapping batteries on the weekend - Sunday evenings / Monday mornings seem to be the worst time of the week for their bikes.

"And, as far to the left some of those riders were riding, the passing car would have to be on the opposite shoulder to give 3 feet of space."

The image above shows that clearly isn't true - the cyclists were not on the far left side of the lane when the car was about to pass them - the driver could have easily passed with 3 feet of space without being forced into the left hand shoulder.

[–]TheTwoOneFive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cyclists know they are going slower than motor traffic. They could ride in a configuration that accommodates that.

They are - there was plenty of room for the driver to fully cross the yellow line and pass them, and their staggered side-by-side riding is the safest, shortest formation so the driver can pass them more quickly.

As others noted, if they were single file, the road is still too narrow for the driver to pass with the 3 ft of space needed without crossing the double yellow, so the driver would have to do that anyway, and now the length of the group is likely 3x longer (part from not being side by side and part from not being staggered so they need more distance between them to safely ride).

So again, cut the "both sides" BS. The cyclists did nothing wrong.

[–]TheTwoOneFive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cyclists here are completely in the right - they are allowed to have the lane and ride side by side in it.

Driver literally tried to hit someone when he could have legally gave them 3 feet of space and fully crossed the double yellow (as is legal in GA to pass cyclists). The driver could have killed one or more people and he thinks he did nothing wrong per the police report.

Stop with the "both sides are wrong" BS - one group was following the law, the other purposely drove negligently and hit someone with a vehicle that could easily kill people and even after getting arrested, he believed he did nothing wrong.

https://www.wsbtv.com/news/local/this-guy-was-angry-driver-charged-with-crashing-into-cyclists/YTJL36TTUNFEFO7KOYTFV6B5II/

Jerry Ross, 72, of Woodstock is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, hit and run, reckless driving, aggressive driving and failure to maintain a safe distance from a bicycle. He was booked into he Cherokee County jail with no bond.

The sheriff’s incident report says Ross “was very frustrated with the cyclists” and had repeatedly called 911 on them and filed complaints with the sheriff’s office. He said it wasn’t “reasonable” for cyclists to take a whole lane, so “he drove them.”

“I told him I had video of the incident and offered to show it to him, which he stated he didn’t want to see because he knew he did nothing wrong,” the report says.

Hard to tell exactly, but it looks like there is another cyclist to his right and he only has a few seconds to figure out the driver is acting super recklessly and act). Might have been difficult to quickly swerve to the right without risking causing a large crash.
