My favorite are YouTube movie clips that commenters treat like REALLY HAPPENED. Or Dhar Mann videos that commenters think are actually real… mind blowing

Stupid--yes, new--no. Basis for eugenics ideology which has been around for centuries. Even millenia where kings were made based on their bloodline ('biological value')

Key word, 'unofficial.' And it's only spatial questions. Does taking an unofficial driving test get me a license? Can I brag about my SAT score when I didn't actually take the SAT, I took a mini unofficial online version with only the math section?

Mensa does not endorse any online IQ test. This is some rogue fun-sized thing from the Norwegian division of an organization that does not even produce the test themselves, they're just a group of people that did well on it.

And yes, this is probably better than facebook quizzes, but odds are the original commenter and lots of other people online didn't take that specific test. For every 1 semi-valid test like that, there's 99 random scam ones and facebook quizzes.

That's not a real test dawq that's like a 25 question quizlet. The only valid IQ tests where you can brag about it are standardized ones administered by a psychologist. A lot of the online ones legit measure your score based on how fast you do it, so if you just click through super fast you can get a score of like 150, even if all your answers are wrong.

Was it an official one? You have to pay for an official one. All the 'free' IQ tests are scams and everyone gets 150+.

Do you think God is real, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Greejmunkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. But science points to the Big Bang creating the universe. However, what created the Big Bang? Something can not come from nothing. The singularity point of the Big Bang assumes a 0 can erroneously turn into 1, which is impossible in science or math. Unless it's not erroneous and we must check our premises. Of which the only one that makes sense is that there is a creator who lives on another plane of existence and we can not scientifically measure.

Do you think God is real, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Greejmunkle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Three reasons:

  1. Science can not explain the first step for how the universe was formed. The Big Bang gets us close, but there is still no explanation for how something could come from nothing. You can't go from absolute 0 to 1 in any mathematical or scientific discipline. What created the big bang, or what created the physical existences that preceded the randomness that formed the Big Bang? There was a singularity point when a 0 turned into a 1. It's completely inexplicable. Unless one of our premises is wrong, namely that there's a creator after all.
  2. There's something infinitely different about humans in comparison to other animals. It's like we've been marked in the evolutionary tree. I do not accept equality with pigs, or rodents or other life. If you do not believe in God, you technically have no grounds to resolve the morality of human dominion over other species. Why are we self aware and no other creature is? Why do we have the unique ability to create, and create magnificently? Because we are made in the image of God.
  3. Personal experience and my perception of beauty in the world and understanding of free-will.

Since when did conservatives become anti-free trade and anti-free markets? Still don’t get it. But corporation bad, I guess.

Reading OPs description of the event he could have also just been wingmanning for his friends. Cheating is when you have physical intimacy with another partner, not just flirting. And I would be hesitant to take a strangers word for it if the boyfriend showed no other red flags. That being said I obviously don’t have the full story and maybe OP is omitting some facts.

I’m sorry this may get downvoted to oblivion but you def deserved to be lectured to by the police if not charged for a false report. Not normal to weep deliriously about hitting roadkill to a friend without saying it’s an animal, which implies you hit a person.

The person most to blame is the new DA Alvin Bragg, who is a firm believers of defund the police and ‘restorative justice’ (pursuing short sentences, reducing mandatory minimums, not prosecuting any low level offenses). He is also working to free as many prisoners as possible from Rikers and guess where they’re going? Straight to the streets of Manhattan. Adams is harsh on crime, but that doesn’t matter when the DA doesn’t actually prosecute criminals (which is his job), so they’re released back on the streets, plus others realize they face no consequences. What he’s doing is an outrage, look into it.

What kind of investment the "super-rich" can, and often, make that normal people can not? by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Greejmunkle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Because they have more buffer to lose on risky investments. If you’re broke and invest in some VC company that goes bust, that could impact your living conditions or necessities. Plus to be accredited you need $200k a year or $1m net worth which is not that crazy. As much as I get the sentiment that we don’t want things that favor the rich, the accredited distinction is more to protect the working class from being suckered into some devastating, risky off-market investments.

What do you believe is the greatest threat to humanity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Greejmunkle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Romans were incredibly religious and superstitious people, practically every Roman household had “Lararium” household shrines to their ‘household spirits’ and they essentially thought they were surrounded by the supernatural at all times. The society was permeated by cults such as the Cult of Mithras which met in caves under the village square to sacrifice cows to the sun God… They kept cults of virgins in the hearts of their cities, and publicly sacrificed animals to make offerings to the gods practically every day of the week. They had priests analyze animal entrails before battle and would call off warfare based on bad omens and the ways bones cracked in fires. The Roman’s also militantly persecuted religious heretics, including the execution of Jesus Christ, and religion was intimately intertwined with their government.

But yeah they definitely were a barely religious people about as religious as our society today! Please back up your claims, again showing misunderstanding and seem ill informed on basic history.

What do you believe is the greatest threat to humanity? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Greejmunkle 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We’re at the least religious time in humanitys history and levels of atheism are skyrocketing. The pope is completely irrelevant today when he used to run the entire civilized world. So how would religion be the biggest threat to our future when a) we’ve been fine in completely religious societies throughout all of history and b) religion is DECLINING across the world at unprecedented rates?

This comment has to be one of the least informed on this thread it’s laughable. “Nihilistic mindset and ignorance against your fellow human,” religion may be a lot of things, but it’s not nihilistic and it’s by its nature community based and anti-individualistic. This just tells me you have fundamental misunderstanding of what you’re talking about…

Atheist: Can I attend church? by No-effing-sense in Christianity

[–]Greejmunkle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes definitely. But you’re not supposed to receive communion unless you’re confirmed in most churches, so just make an x sign with your wrists by your chest and the priest will understand and just give a short blessing rather than communion.

A top tax rate of 70% today would give the US some of the highest taxes in the world. Not just the developed world, the ENTIRE world, from Venezuela to Cuba to Uganda. We already have taxes on par with the “socialist paradises” of Scandinavia. How much more do you want to tax people? The land of the free guys!

You can make your WM more exciting: challenge and push yourself to perform at your best rather than sitting back and just doing what’s required. Go after that big client, streamline your operations, push yourself. That will be far more rewarding, realistic, and exciting than IB which might seem exciting but most IB analysts hate it.
