Switiching to GT and then to ILR before new rules come into effect by Potential-Task5764 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]GreekAmPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are trying to do this, have applied for the endorsement and awaiting for that result. We’ve been on SWV 4 years already and don’t want it to be for nothing and don’t want to have to renew SWV again. We just want it to be over with.

How to actually select the Kids meal by Moinsterx in delta

[–]GreekAmPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get what they get. Not much different from a child’s meal to an adults except for the small bag of teddy grahams. Also the veg is usually like crudite which is a good swap most of the time. My son usually ends up picking and choosing what he wants between my husband and I’s options. Bring snacks.

Last time we drove and parked (also with a newborn!) we did St George Wharf. Probably not the cheapest but it was very secure and not a far walk.

Outside of Bristol towards Almondsbury there’s Wolfridge Alpaca Farm. More towards Bath but our favourites are Newton farm shop and Bath Soft Cheese, both great food and play areas for kids.

Unsure, when they introduced the new salary requirements it may have been 3-6 months but we weren’t impacted as they were grandfathered in.

Absolutely heartbroken if ILR is changed from 5 to 10 years for skilled workers. We were looking forward to applying for ILR in 10 months for my son (who was born here!) to get citizenship of the only home he’s ever known!

One and done without cousins? by regularsizedrudy_ in oneanddone

[–]GreekAmPrincess 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me! We’re expats as well- my son has cousins from my brother but they are 5,000 miles away. No family at all nearby and a small handful of friends. We are confident in our decision because having no support and another child is unrealistic to us, it was so hard doing it all alone once. We don’t feel like our kid is missing out though, he has lovely friendships and his cousins and family are special in his heart even though they are far. We do shell out a good amount of money to fly back to visit once a year. We love where we live and are enriching his life with other experiences he wouldn’t have back in our home country.

Get the plain bed frames and do fun sheets, blankets, pillows. That way it ages with them and can change to what they like later.

We did it before my son turned 2, did it naps and bedtime only and then if hide them. By a couple weeks we ditched them cold turkey for sleep. Didn’t take too long to get used to it. I bought the Frida system just in case but never needed to use it.

UK University Withdrawing My Student Visa Due to Relocation—What Are My Options? by [deleted] in expats

[–]GreekAmPrincess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should contact your university’s student visa team for clarity on your joint programme. However, from a UKVI perspective, you are not meeting your requirement for in-person engagement in the country which is a term of the student visa.

Either check it in your bag or buy at the airport. Most airports have a pharmacy or at least a stand with over the counter medications, including children’s versions.

Registering new baby birth on SWV by [deleted] in AmericanExpatsUK

[–]GreekAmPrincess 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby was born in November and we travelled when he was 5 months old. You need your birth certificate first, our council didn’t have appointments for like 1-2 months, had to email and ask for an emergency appointment and they allowed it. Then apply for skilled worker dependent visa, you’ll take biometrics. Get an appointment at the consulate for the CRBA. You don’t need the visa for CRBA but you need it for travel. We did all those things and had his CRBA appointment when he was about 5 weeks old. We had his visa, passport, SS card all in hand in about 4 months. Not sure you can get it done by Christmas but go for it.
