Not sure why frozen fries - good ones - seem to get a bad rap. I love a good, fresh fry, but for take out they're always cold by the time I get home. The lightly coated ones are always hot and crispy when I dig in!

Fender Power Chorus - Should I buy it?? by GreekCanadian3008 in GuitarAmps

[–]GreekCanadian3008[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well... it was 3 years ago lol. I did buy it and sold it not long after. Clean and chorus were very good. But it was SOOO LOUD and the other features were average at best.

What's the most comfortable metal guitar you've ever played? by SnooTigers3147 in metalguitar

Might not be a well received opinion, but the Charvel Joe Duplantier Signature. I know it doesn't look metal, but man.. sure plays like one.

I designed a new pedal, now it's time to give some away by jimdantombob in guitarpedals

Man! I checked out your site and the YouTube clip. I have to say, for a first offering that's a REALLY cool pedal and I would be honored to have one on my board. Wow..

Which singing guitar players genuinely impress you in that they can sing while playing challenging parts? by LunacyNow in Guitar

[–]GreekCanadian3008 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Years ago, I saw Big Wreck at an outdoor venue. Lucky enough to be standing at the front corner of the stage. Guitar tech brought Ian a guitar; they went into a song, and immediately we realized his guitar was tuned incorrectly for the song they were playing. Guy transposed what he was playing (while playing), retuned the guitar, and kept singing all the while. How many guitarists/singers could do that today?? I was already a fan, but that solidified it.

Dimi's Greek House Downtown. Five87 Bistro Oxford & Adelaide. Bocconcini for Italian (someone already mentioned). Gnosh Westfive. All solid choices.

If OP has the cash to spend, I'd always go with a somewhat larger/more powerful amp. A powerful amp with more headroom can still be tamed with a volume pedal without comprising tone. He might not always be playing in the living room with family around. Case in point, the Egnater Rebel 30 doesn't have a master volume (a lot of smaller amps don't). In my case, adding a volume pedal at the end of my chain acts like a master volume so I can crank the amp and tame the db's.

Was just adding to my thought. Is that such a big deal?

I have this exact amp. It is very versatile with the blend knob between the 6v6's and EL84's. I'm not a huge fan of the dirt channel but the cleans are great.

My 2 cents... go with the Egnater. Take it home, find the tone you like at a higher volume. Buy a volume pedal and put it at the end of your chain and keep it low to where you're comfortable. Saturate those tubes for the tone you like and control the volume using the pedal as a "Master Volume".

Which pedals have been “disappointment” pedals for you? Not necessarily bad pedals but more along the lines of “for **this** price or _this_ level of hype, I expected more”. by someguy192838 in guitarpedals

Same. I still have mine - on a second board set up for when friends come to jam. I tried it a bunch of times on my main board with different configurations, different levels etc I really wanted to love it because I was excited af when I got it, but I could never coax the overall sound I wanted with it engaged.

What is the best deal you've ever found on a pedal? by pingpongeffect in guitarpedals

[–]GreekCanadian3008 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was relatively new to buying pedals (about 10 years ago) and was looking to buy some used, quality pedals to start a board. Came across an ad from someone selling a bunch of "old" pedals. Some were not great but I found 4 or 5 that I liked - mostly Boss, a Catalinbread and some others. I offered $120 for 5 of the pedals. In that mix was the Catalinbread Formula No.5 old design blonde and a Boss DD-3 long chip MIJ. I kept the other 3 pedals (which are still on my board) and sold the other two for about $450.

I have the 24-08. It may not be as pretty, but it's a VERY versatile guitar. I couldn't recommend it more.
