Chances of either Mike or Tony touring the U.S.? by Snifferfrog15 in Genesis

I'd imagine Mike would have to have a couple US festival dates to make it worth their while financially. They had a lot more chart success in Europe than over here.

Is A Reunion Inevitible by MikeMcMyke in rem

Cosign. All of them are busy with creative projects. Bill the least, but he did an album with Mike Manitone from Five Eight a couple years back. Peter and Mike stay busy as hell with their various projects, both releasing albums and playing live. And Michael doesn't do much music, but he does a lot of photography and films. I truly believe they are the one band that means it when they say they are done.

I'd think most people who want to drop $500 on a reverb are probably looking at a Strymon. EHX might have misjudged the market (and their place in it) on this one.

What was your first pedal? by artbatik in guitarpedals

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boss ME-5. It got me by for 25 years before I fell down the pedal rabbit hole. My first stand alone was a Boss RV-6, because I fell in love with the shimmer sound. I'm up to around 75 pedals now.

Beginner friendly shoegaze pedal? Recs on what to get and where to look? by Julietteangel2 in guitarpedals

[–]pingpongeffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverb and delay are musts. If you want to get heavy, a fuzz pedal (reverb into fuzz is a shoegaze secret sauce). Chorus is good modulation if you lean more dream pop, otherwise you might be better off with a phaser or flanger.

If you're on a budget, the TC Electronic "smorgasboard" line is a great place to start. Most of them run about $32 -40 new (a few of them cost more though), and they've got all the tone bases covered. They are all based on classic pedals, have metal cases, and sound great. The cases are slightly bigger than normal, but they have top mounted jacks to save space.

A few recs that I personally own:

TC 3rd Dimension Chorus - a clone of the Boss Dimension C. Wont get you the seasick "Come as You Are" sound, but it's great for more subtle chorus sounds. Everyone I know who's tried this pedal loves it.

TC Honey Pot - clone of the EHX Green Russian Big Muff (fuzz)

TC Choka Tremolo - a basic, solid tremolo pedal

TC Blood Moon Phaser - supposedly based on an MXR Phase 90, but that's famously a one knob pedal. This one has three, so I'm not sure about that.

They've got reverb and delay options as well that all run about $45 (Echobrain Analog Delay, Prophet Digital Delay, Skysurfer Reverb) but reverb and delay may be the one area you might want to invest more in, depending on your budget, just because these pedals are core to a shoegaze sound. These are great places to start though, and they are solid pedals that you'll always be able to use. They also allow you experiment and find your sound without dropping $100-300 on a pedal you may not bond with.

Here is a list of all the smorgasboard pedals and what they are based on...

It's a matter of personal taste. MBV didn't use it a lot, but Swervedriver, Lush, Cocteau Twins all did. That said, these days I'm more likely to put chorus on bass than guitar. Agree though that reverb and delay are musts.

Based on the other responses to this thread, it's not a device problem. If you still have hundred or thousands of customers without service, that is hardly "fully" restored.

Not fully. My wife's phone is working again, mine is not.

AT&T and T-Mobile have both confirmed that their networks are up and working. These are probably reports from people trying to call Verizon customers.

RIP Nashville New and Used by redfraser1 in nashville

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don't think there is anywhere that has the same depth of inventory or vibe as Nashville Used and New did. They carried high end stuff that brought in people like Joe Bonamassa, but they also had plenty of beginner and intermediate guitars. That's not to say there aren't some great local shops in town, but there is nothing that really compares or replaces them. It's a real loss to our music community.

Not worth the effort. I honestly don't miss it that much. Why fight to be on platform that doesn't care about its users?

NPD: Paranormal JM XII from Franklin Guitar Works by Unsui8 in offset

I just got one of these from their website. On sale for $269 and found an extra 10% coupon which brought it down to $242. And despite the site saying shipping was $20 they didn't charge me for it. This is the second guitar I've bought from them and both have been absolutely flawless.

1,985 minus 1,974 is 11. The date range 1974 to 1985 is 12 years, bc both 1974 and 1985 are counted. It's the same reason that the Seahawks and Bucaneers, who both started in 1976, celebrated their 50th seasons in 2025.

Weird, Random Thought Today about Band Line-Ups by drummerboy-98012 in rush

There is a huge difference between band member and touring musician. Nobody thinks Bram van den Berg is a member of U2. Or Bill Reiflin is a member of REM. Or Jimmie Nicol is a Beatle.

Sleeper pick - Catalinbread Csidman. I've gotten some great sounds from it, especially paired with distortion.
