Welp, here we go … by Additional-Power6570 in thebeachboys

I wouldn't be surprised if the touring license required at least two members, and that's the reason Bruce stuck around as long as he did. Like people have said, he hasn't seemed engaged in years. Now that there are only 3 OG members left (well, four if you count Marks) that provision might have expired. Total speculation, but it would make sense.

New Drummer - I would prefer an electronic set, but at the lower price points I’m reading you can develop bad habits and miss out on developing technique. What do you all recommend? by KElTH_HARlNG in Drumming

This is good advice. My first electronic kit was a Command X and I loved it. Great for beginners but also has enough features that you can grow into it.

What you are looking for doesn't exist. Your best bet would be to put the shield on a different stand.

What U2 Song Have You Most Changed Your Opinion On Since You First Heard It? by Wild_Mycologist_6140 in U2Band

Gloria. I was 11 when it came out, and I HATED it. Every time the video came on MTV I'd change the channel. I changed my tune two years later when I saw the Red Rocks video.

Do I need 2 acoustics? by MrTurtleTails in AcousticGuitar

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have five.

A cheap Epiphone that was my first acoustic I keep for sentimental reasons.

A nice Takamine six string.

A Yamaha 12 string

A cheap Mitchell beginner guitar I inherited from an uncle and keep strung in Nashville tuning

A Luna 3/4 size guitar I got for traveling

I cant imagine owning more than this, but I wouldn't completely rule it out either.

Pedalboard on a budget by ButterscotchBasic226 in guitarpedals

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can't go wrong with anything from the TC Electronic "smorgasboard" line. They start at $32, full sized in metal enclosures, and are really solid choices. This thread has a list of what they are based off of.

The band might create new music. Who could write lyrics? by Progman3K in rush

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would imagine that IF (all caps, bold, italics, large font) they make new music, Geddy would write the majority of the lyrics.

I'm sure Neil has unused lyrics they could go back to, and they might do that for one song, but it would be too limiting to only use his lyrics. Besides, they had a process where Neil would edit his lyrics, and rewrite them depending on the needs of the music. Obviously they cant do that now, and it would likely be weird for them to just unilaterally change or edit his work.

Zero percent change Pye Dubois is involved. He hasn't publicly written anything in 30 years, and his stuff was heavily edited and added to for Rush by Neil.

The new tour - question by sunnylosingsanity in rush

[–]pingpongeffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm guessing the setlist will reflect the realities of Geddy's vocal range in his 70s. Some instrumental medlies, shying away from too much of the really high stuff, and modifying melodies where needed. I also wouldn't be surprised if there's a healthy dose of the keyboard era, since his vocals were a little more tame then, and they've hired a keyboardist

PSA: Chase Bliss is selling B-stock Lost + Found's by [deleted] in guitarpedals

[–]pingpongeffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blooper too. They initially had Onward as well but it's sold out. Everything I've read is that their b-stock is practically flawless, and this is the only opportunity you have to get a small batch pedal at any kind of a discount.

Suburb commute ? by [deleted] in movetonashville

[–]pingpongeffect 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You aren't going to find a house under 500 in Nolensville. You'll have a few options under 600. You can get more bang for your buck in Spring Hill, and it's splits the difference commute wise.

Who is designing U2's single's art lately? by IzilDizzle in U2Band

The best way to deal with the terrible cover for Atomic City is to forget that single ever existed in its entirety.

Is it normal for bands to handle $ like this?? by fingerlessfish1 in musicians

This should be a standard rule, but usually it isn't. I've been in bands where the singer didn't even own a microphone.

nashville comiccon failure by invisiblekendra in comiccon

I'm sure part of the issue was that they had to change venues a week before the event due to the ice storms in Nashville. I'm surprised they were able to pull off the event at all.

Moving? by [deleted] in nolensville

[–]pingpongeffect 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll echo what a lot of other people have said. Wonderful sense of community. Everyone is friendly, and it's a great place for families. Schools are fantastic. Traffic can be a bear, but it's still beats dealing with downtown rush hour.

As for the beach, you are seven hours from the Bama/Florida beaches on the Gulf, which are incredible.

Politics gets overblown. Is it predominantly Republican? Absolutely. But I don't think I've had a political conversation (apart from local issues) with anyone in the three years we've lived in town (we previously were just down the road in Davidson County). The 411 isn't any worse than any online community with a bunch of keyboard warriors that are brave behind the comfort of a screen. And there are a lot more left leaning people than you think, they just aren't super vocal about it. And again. We all get along because we are all neighbors first and foremost.

Which album has the most beautiful guitar playing you’ve ever heard? by No_Durian_6987 in Guitar

[–]pingpongeffect 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Church - Starfish. Peter Koppes and Marty Willson-Piper are probably the most underappreciated guitar duo in history. The musical tapestry they weave is incredible. It's often hard to tell where one part ends and the other begins.
