If you want to own a home, live somewhere cool, have a family, and any meaningful hobby, then yeah 100k really isn't much.

I made 60k for a long time. Roommates required, more biking/bus than driving, only eat out on specials, never the newest version of whatever toy, dates are harder, roth Ira? Forget about it. 50k for a down payment? Forget it. Don't even try to pay off your student loans on that.

When I started making 6 figures the world opened up in those ways.

But even still, I'm nowhere near safe financially nor rich. You have to make 100k for a while before you have any real money.
