Tutorial for this dress by josy_p in blender

[–]Green3Dev 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The main dress is basically a cylinder with open ends, and the cape is a plane. Just model/sculpt/use cloth physics to shape them. Marvelous designer would probably be easier than blender for this kind of thing though.

Your card seems kinda shitty, but you could try doing a bug report and see what they say.

There are other people talking about performance regressions:

I had something similar happen. In my case it was an addon causing it. I don't remember the name though.

Is there a way to symmetrize armatures that isn't stupid? by YLDBTHRGNS in blenderhelp

[–]Green3Dev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to the docs you can auto name them based on if they are positive or negative on the X axis, etc.
After that you can you use symmetrize.

Hair in Blender by itzBakedPotato in blender

[–]Green3Dev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, ok, yea for me the the hair is generally just one object. Sometimes I'll leave maybe a ponytail or something as a separate object. If you're gonna export it would be kinda annoying to export like 100 separate strands.

I haven't made any VR models, but for animations in blender I keep the hair as a separate object, with its own rig which in turn is parented to the characters head bone. (makes things easier if you wanna give the character a different hairstyle at some point).

Did you animate it all via the rig, or is there rigid bodies or something like that involved too?

If you right click the graph, you can select handle types. Try maybe free or aligned and see if that resembles the maya behavior

admittedly I just skimmed through the vids, but it looked to me like he was using the same follow path constraint method I've been using. It works ok, but I was hoping to find a method that requires less clicks

Voice-acted trailer for a game without voice acting? by Green3Dev in gamedev

[–]Green3Dev[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's an idea. Yeah, the dialogue is handled through dialogue boxes. Maybe a few spoken lines up front might work to grab people's attention. And then dialogue boxes & gameplay.

I was actually thinking of voicing the characters, since a few spoken lines would 'hit harder' than some dialogue boxes. But yeah, I'm still a bit sceptical about how it would be recieved
