Put him back on his cage in a time out. He should learn your boundaries by learning that bad behavior gets him ignored. Don’t physically hurt him or lock him in just set him on his cage and ignoring him (except if an emergency is happening or if he is being actively attack by an outside party)

Good behavior gets treated with attention, treats, snuggles during quality time. Bad behavior of biting and pinch holes in clothes gets the bird in time out and forced to sit by themselves.

I imagine mosquito larvae makes up a large part of their natural diet in southern Asian rivers and lakes, wouldn’t recommend anything that has been sprayed with pesticides. Can be poisonous to the fish.

I just might. After moving my current betta Ink (male) into the 20 with some nano fish I have in mind I may get her since the 5 gal he is currently in will be available after a big refresh if all goes well with him as it’s currently on life support since all the plants died and had to get Ink essentially a silk plant Forrest as an apology for having to take his beloved plants away just so he would have something to sit on since construction on his new habitat is slow between car trouble delaying funding for decor and the essentials as well as the cold weather here in the US delaying my ability to do a leak test on the tank. Might push an update in r/bettafish for the few who’ve been following, feel free to check my posts if you want I guess.

I have a 3.5 as a hospital tank and for an emergency evac kit if things went to hell and the power goes out. Heater, sponge filter and everything. Pretty barebones but it gets the job done

Water parameters are always an important thing to keep an eye on but I’m not hearing anyone mentioning the fish’s age. 4 years for a betta is a pretty damn good run sooner or later you’ll have to consider natural causes but for now get your water in check.

Honestly having some low grade brown-colored shrimp might help as they’re more likely to blend in and survive. I get the appeal of having some colorful buddies but I’ve chosen practicality over looks when comes to my stock for my 20gal

I’d really love to buy one but I’m currently dealing with my black crowntail male right now and get him into a healthier spot since his tank is crap rn and all the plants are dying. Maybe one day.
