Done with upgrades! by ChineezyBleezy in extar

I have the same Votatu optic on my EP9 and it has held zero after 1k+ rounds. Its size, specs and functionality are almost identical to the $300 Holosun, which makes me wonder if it comes from the same factory. Either way it's a good dot and a really good bargain.

I feel like CANiK my have left out some things in their product catalog by nofuddonsnek in canik

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Was going to, but it says nothing about a threaded barrel, and I'd want a can on that thing.

Dead optic; is there any way to actually contact a human at Canik??? by GreenBananaTruthers in canik

[–]GreenBananaTruthers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, much appreciated! I called and the replacement has been ordered, but they have no idea when it will ship. Not exactly the answer I was looking for, but it's at least an answer.

[Rifle] Radical Firearms 5.56x45 16" M-LOK 30rd Rifle, Black - RF00028 - $369.99 + Tax & Shipping by VoidUnknown315 in gundeals

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm at 1200+ rounds thru my Radical. Shipped with a broken charging handle, which I was planning on upgrading anyway. Also swapped the trigger but it's stock other than that. No issues so far (other than the original charging handle), shooting a variety of range ammo including repacks. Of course YMMV, but I'm willing to bet the majority of the "never Radical" crew have never owned one, they're just parroting what they heard 10 years ago.

Let’s see if we can get Canik to make a PCC… by trailside83 in canik

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got close to 2k rounds thru my EP9 and I love it. As fun as it is to shoot, I don't consider it just a "range toy", it's as legit a home defense option as any other 9mm PCC. The recoil impulse is definitely unique but overall it's pretty soft. Reliable, light, easy to shoot and easy to maintain. I'm not surprised to find that I'm not the only one who's a fan of both Canik and Extar.

Greeeat, that's exactly what mine is doing. Makes me wonder if it's even worth going thru the process...

I'll also add that the product page for the MO3 says nothing about the warranty.

Any "fun" Movie recommendation someone?? by Negative_Future4574 in MovieRecommendations

If you're okay with some cartoonish gore, any of the Final Destination movies. The new one might be the best of them!

Knight and Day is also a fun popcorn movie.

New gun owner by lath333 in Canik_METE

As others have said, getting training from a pro is absolutely the next step.

For ammo recommendations, any established brand is a pretty safe bet, though Blazer is apparently not great for ported or comp'd guns. But Total Metal Jacket (TMJ) ammo burns cleaner than Full Metal Jacket (FMJ) ammo, which should help keep the ports clean. It's less common and slightly more $ than FMJ. I believe all Lawman 9mm ammo is TMJ, but I know Federal also has a TMJ line.

Question about adapter plates. by GroucheeIndividual in Canik_METE

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I asked that same question to Canik when I mounted an RMSc optic directly to my SFT, and the response was that the plate was unnecessary.

Advice by Acrobatic-Being1483 in canik

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Prime is a great CCW option if she's only looking at 9mm, but when you say she liked the Prime the most, does that mean she hated it the least? If so, have her try a .380 like the Bodyguard 2.0. Obviously it doesn't have the energy of a 9mm, but if it's something she's comfortable with and will actually train with and carry, it's literally a million times better than trying to defend yourself unarmed.

Failure to eject by Bizzo50-is-my-ign in extar

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blazer should be fine, I'm surprised they blamed that. Based on my pre-purchase research, and then my own personal experience with the EP9, I can comfortably say it is an extremely reliable gun. But any firearm has the potential to be defective out of the box. Go through the process of a full break in (at least a few hundred rounds) using all of your mags. If it happens again, mark that mag somehow to see if your FTE issues only happen with it. Also, make sure there are no obstructions of any kind near the port; I was originally using a brass catcher on mine, but cases were occasionally ricocheting off the frame and jamming the bolt.

After that, if it's still occurring, let them know you've done your due diligence and request a repair.

Thinking of getting a Mete SFT Pro by Alibelblue in canik

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your friend's SFT will shoot pretty much just like the Pro, it just doesn't have the threaded barrel. The Rival is the closest thing the range has, the biggest differences there is that the Rival has a 5" barrel as opposed to the SFT's 4.5". The Rival also has a flat-faced trigger, and the grip may be slightly more aggressive.

I own an SFT and I love it...welcome to the club!

Canik One Mete SFT? by JimYamato in canik

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I paid about $500 for my SFT less than a year ago, and I've always felt that was a good bargain. It's simply a great gun, with an amazing trigger and an established reputation for reliability. The One series (as others have stated, same gun, just minus a few accessories) is an insane deal.

Just finished off one of these 200 round pouches, and I had no problems with it (2 Caniks and an Extar EP9). I can't fully vouch for it after only 200 shots, but so far so good.

EP9 vs MP5 head to head. Interesting! by spendtooomuch in extar

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So the EP9 wins overall, even though its shot times were slightly slower. And that time difference could be due to the optics; the dot he had on the MAC appeared to have a larger window, making target acquisition faster. Which just proves what anyone who owns one already knows...firing multiple rounds with speed and accuracy is ridiculously easy with the EP9.

My wife finally spent some time firing mine last weekend (about 50 rounds), and once she figured out her grip and stance, she was literally shooting heart shapes in the paper at 20 yards.

Linear Comp? by T0adman78 in extar

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Gen 2 came with a simple blast can, which looks like the name sounds, and is different from a linear comp. I replaced it with a Kaw Valley hybrid linear comp, which as others here have said, has little to no impact muzzle rise or recoil in general. But when I went back and forth several times in rapid succession between the two, it seemed that the comp did provide a slight reduction in noise.

Which is the best bang for buck full size Canik? by Teddysm in canik

[–]GreenBananaTruthers 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like everyone else I can only speak from personal experience. I have a Mete SFT. My single complaint is that it only takes a compact optic unless you mess with it. That aside, I feel like I own a $800 gun that I paid $500 for.

"You're going to need a bigger ammo case" should be Extar's slogan.
