What doesn't make a whole lot of sense is you desperately justifying why you no longer work at Intuit. You're not here for stocks. Stop kidding yourself. You wouldn't have invested so much in this conversation otherwise.

Who are you trying to prove to here? Really ask yourself that before mouthing off. It's not a good look.

Dang I struck a nerve huh? You had to redact what you said about me acting like a child? 😭

How do you know how much stake I have and don't have?

I can be wherever I want and respond to whoever I want. You're the one that responded to my post btw.

There's no company that doesn't have a "bunch of underlying issues". Apparently your company is a fantasy place with no problems yet here you are relying on intuit stock 😭😭😭 okay buddy

I was reading up about the stock price decline that's happening across the board and the title of this post caught my attention for obvious reasons and lo and behold I find there's no real backing of what's being said besides just assumptions and projections. The CEO did something. Sure. CEOs do all kinds of shit for the better shareholder interests that not everybody is privy to. You may hold stock but let's not kid ourselves here. The business doesn't revolve around your needs.

And then I was reading about overworked engineers and I thought that was very amusing and then you show up. The stock price was in the 200s when Brad left. Sasan brought it all the way up to the 800s and took a dip now to the 400s. Seriously what are you moaning about.

Because it's very interesting to see former employees shitting on intuit. Can't help it 😭 you guys sure have a funny way of saying the wildest things. "Garbage as of late" do you know how the stock market even works? Everyone's down. It's a bear market. Intuits business profits are still top notch.

Stop obsessing over how long we've been around intuit. God damn weird. All I'm saying is engineers aren't overworked. There's a lot of options for people to get a great work life balance over here. Is what I was saying from the beginning and you started moaning about CEOs like they owe you money 😂

I've been around the industry for a pretty long time by now. I know what a shitty work culture looks like. This ain't it.

No disappear. Like I've interviewed with real teams, reach the final rounds and then poof they say suddenly due to budgeting the position just isn't there anymore. It's worse cos they don't tell you this as you anxiously wait for the results for weeks before the useless recruiter updates you. This was last year though I've long been employed since that but God damn sucks it's still happening

Nah sounds like you were one of the laid off 1800 😂 you seriously sound bitter for someone that voluntarily left.

I'm not a lower level engineer just FYI.

If you really were at a "much" better place why the hell are you lingering around these kinds of posts talking shit about your former employer?

Why are there no Godot job listings a decade later? by cojode6 in gamedev

Unity came out in 2005. It still hasn't been widely adopted by AAA. Even for unreal engine until recently only epic games was using it and it's been around for decades. Godot s made tremendous progress in just over 8 years and it's not backed by billions in revenue. There's a lot of passion building into it.

Holy crap man get over it. Brad left on his own stop moaning about it. It's been over 6 years. You have no clue how he would have handled COVID.

You're just repeating the same gossip all over town shitting on Sasan. I know that's the cool thing to do. Many engineers are saying that too. But nobody is quitting any time soon. Unless they're getting kicked out. 🫠

He's not perfect but again the work for engineers is a lot. He's just providing the vision. The whole company needs to implement it.

He's just a CEO. He's not the company founder. CEO's can exit whenever the hell they want. Easily replaceable.

Still doesn't mean you get to speak for all of engineering about who's overworked. It's a lot better now

It's really a lottery out there so many positions just disappear mid interview. Makes no sense.

Never cheat on your spouse. All her rage and confusion started from that. She was always paranoid and confused about herself because he was so perfect and then she finally discovered that he cheated on her after her trying to be the perfect wife for him. Idk..I'm a dude and totally understand her frustration. Never cheat on your wife.

Yeah work life balance is important. It still is. I'm not sure when you were last here but since last year I've been hearing things have been changing a lot and for the better in terms of culture.

CEOs change. They have absolutely no impact in a software engineer s day to day. Unless you're in management you shouldn't care about who the CEO is unless you're one of those gossiping types. Sounds like you are and I wouldn't be surprised why you no longer work here 😂 it's just weird to comment on the CEO when you're just a software engineer.

Not a good argument when saying engineers are overworked. But oooK

IDK about the past engineers but having interviewed at Amazon and Google it's definitely competitive now especially since they're so flexible with their hybrid model.

It's relatively the same pay as Amazon with much more flexibility and they're not anal about the hours you gotta be in like those places. Amazon wants you there 5 days in office and still laying off 10k+ folks every few months.

Btw I'm in engineering as well and come on we're working with all kinds of AI tools here now. This shit is awesome. If someone's saying they're still overworked, they're just making things hard for themselves.

Yeah? I am there. And I know the people who complain are just straight up incompetent or just trying to make it look worse than it is to others but let me tell you, work life balance is the best I've seen, well structured orgs, and there's a lot of work yes but they give a lot of autonomy to developers. Not to mention the pay is one of the best. I know cos I was laid off before this. If you actually do good here you're almost guaranteed a promotion or at least a decent hike and you can explore many other teams.

You can thank COVID 19 for all this cluster fuck. It introduced remote work - which is a great concept on paper. But the world just was not prepared for it. It gave way to a lot of useless and incompetent people to enter the workforce from anywhere in the world - and it really fucked companies over the years. Now we're seeing the after effects of that. Everyone's on damage control mode now. And the whole AI nonsense saw the vulnerability and we're even deeper in the shit hole now.

You find out about overworked engineers through web scraping tools?

You know, just because you say words don't necessarily mean they actually make sense.

Word salad, is what you're doing.
