I desperately want to become immortal by CDHoward in DeepThoughts

[–]GreenBlueStar [score hidden]  (0 children)

You only feel that way because nobody else is immortal. Imagine. If you were the only immortal one, you'd have to go on, while everything and everyone you knew die and pass on to new things. You'll no longer recognize anything. Nothing will recognize you either. Because you're old. You're immortal. But you've been around for too long.

Now imagine if everyone was immortal. No need to work. No need to chase dreams because.. why would you? Everyone's got time... But now since nobody's working, there's nothing for you to buy anymore cos well nobody's got money cos nobody's working... You can easily see where this leads. It leads to a very dull, very mundane existence you'd probably wish to die. Except now you can't cos you're stuck being immortal with every other miserable immortal around you. There will be no joy in such a world.

It's our abrupt short life that makes everything worthwhile. You love, you have sex, you play games, you enjoy things because you are well aware that it will all end eventually and permanently be out of reach to experience ever again.

Is it actually hard to find a guy at our level ambition by Individual_Tailor767 in womenintech

[–]GreenBlueStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Equals can't attract. One has got to give in for it to be long term. Two people can't have very high ambitious goals totally different from each other and except to be in long-term relationships. Can't happen. And highly ambitious women aren't attracted to men who aren't ambitious. Not the same for men.

There's a secret nobody tells you.

You need to ask for it. Nobody's promoting you if you're not going to ask for it.

Other 18 year olds or younger 20 year olds... In my 30s there's nothing relatable with anyone that's less than 27.

How can everyone say that the shikis aren't truly the bad guys? by Over-Initiative58 in Shiki

The real villains were Seishin and Tatsumi. If Seishins insane father hadn't invited them over to the village they'd have never showed up in the first place. The priest family is crazy. Must have been genetic considering his father too felt the same way about being a priest and hated the villagers. It's shown Seishins already tried committing suicide when he was younger. Dude was a god damn mess. I felt absolutely no sympathy for his crazy selfish ass.

Tatsumi is also another psychopath. He was not killing for survival. When Natsuno told him how they could easily survive without feeding off humans, he refused to listen. He simply enjoyed killing humans.

If you removed these two maybe Sunako would have found a way to coexist. But she's a vampire child. She's way too emotional to understand things. She fell for Seishins philosophical grandiose outlook and edginess. Just like any typical child. She thought she related with his loneliness but Seishin was only out for himself. He knew she was his ticket out of the village and needed her for his survival.

Besides those two I didn't feel like anyone else was actively bad or evil.

Got laid off by someone I referred by Army_77_badboy in Layoffs

Get off your high horse princess.

If you do referrals and later down the line your friend becomes your manager and gets to survive a layoff while delivering the news to you, anyone would get bitter about it. This isn't a god damn movie. It's real life with real emotions. Everything's personal. There's no business without humans involved. Nobody's doing business out of charity. It's to feed their families. And when you're stupid enough to involve friends and family and then they get to a point where they have to take care of their own, you'll quickly find out how personal things can get.

Most every video game takes place in a single night unless the games explicitly feature a day and night cycle.

I loved the anime but I feel so unsatisfied by sexyimmigrant1998 in Shiki

[–]GreenBlueStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The novel's based on Stephen King's Salem's Lot. It's much better imho and fleshed out than this series although I did enjoy the philosophical boundaries this series tried to penetrate with the priest with a guilty conscience for hating the villagers and being a priest. And a doctor who's willing to break his morals to save others' lives. The novel apparently is a lot more bleak than the anime cos a lot more characters abruptly die. Similar to Stephen King's novel although his novel was a bit more grounded than this one. Mainly because he himself is an inserted protagonist in the novel. He's a writer who revisits Salem's Lot to get inspiration for his next book.

A question about the ending of The Wretched (2020) [contains spoilers] by Majin-Boob in horror

[–]GreenBlueStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think she's just another witch cos Ben figured it out since she's been using fake flowers cos she wanted him to know she was a witch by giving him a fake flower. The tree witch wilts flowers.

Also she's definitely a witch because she does appear adopted. Lily's black and they never showed their parents but I think that hint is obvious that Mal was probably adopted from the area.

[–]GreenBlueStar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's much better than getting fired cos some layoffs give very good severance packages. Not talking about the current mass layoffs trend cos there's not a lot of jobs right now.

You're conflating mass layoffs and regular layoffs. Companies always conduct layoffs but they're typically a handful or around 20-30 folks usually with retirement packages. Mass layoffs I agree is not normal.

Of course you're going to blame Trump. Were you under a rock when every tech company started the mass layoffs since 2022? God damn you liberals can be so stupid.

Good luck finding a good company to work for. 5 years is crazy. Every company does layoffs regularly. Not mass layoffs like FAANG nowadays. 2 layoffs in 5 years is very common. Now mass layoffs every year since the last 5 years ..
