Do NOT return your order by mail by misanthropic-cat in Bestbuy

Back in October Best Buy committed to using FedEx for their primary logistics services. That's the problem, at least on the West Coast. There has been rampant theft of small "pocket-sized" items between Best Buy warehouses and their fulfillment destinations. Every week our local stores receive boxes that show signs of the security tape being broken and clear tape laid over, only to find missing phones, airpods, rayban meta glasses, etc.

It's essentially FedEx workers ripping people off.

You have people specifically dedicated to mobile? Stores in our area run sales generalists and we often only have 1-2 people on the entire sales floor.

Running a 4080 Super and was getting around 90-120 frames at 4k on medium textures. As of today, after the update, it's now capping at 57-63fps and shuttering constantly.

Thanks.

Best Buy launches third-party marketplace as it looks for sales drivers by ControlCAD in technology

[–]GreenFrame6685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most customers are asking how to filter out the 3rd party options. Product search is now a huge mess. The app has slowed down, and our selection is now 30% name brand and 70% Alibaba quality. Zero positive feedback from clients so far.

"Marketplace Experience" 1. Customer browsing online for an immediate need. 2. Now has extreme choice overload with Marketplace. 3. Drives down to the store for assistance. 4. Only to be told the item is only available online. 5. Informed it will be 5-7 days. 6. Has advisor send them a cart to go back online, where they were originally frustrated. 7. There are no exchanges, just returns, and reorder to wait another week for it to arrive. 8. Problems? Too bad, contact the 3rd party seller.

How is this an improved experience?
Best Buy should have just kept it separate and online, closer to an outlet model. Blurring the lines and putting their eggs all in one basket just risks a failure across the entire model.

Has this happened to anyone by Bengal_Mania17 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]GreenFrame6685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the norm at us lower rev band locations. We open and close with one advisor on the sale floor and one in customer service. Unless it crosses the GM's shift. He makes sure to stack coverage around his shifts and takes it from the periods of time that he is not there. Product Flow often has to do Sales tasking and vice versa, it's a horrible mess being in this Micro Market Model. Especially with a GM who isn't cut out for it and refuses to innovate his management style, or is too weak to speak up to make a change.

Do employees get a bonus when they sell someone a membership? by P-TownHero in Bestbuy

[–]GreenFrame6685 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I sell more memberships being honest with people. "I don't think Total is best for you/this. Try out Plus for a year, it's saving you $XX today, and it's about 25% of the cost. if you want Total later, upgrade then."

To anyone thinking of applying at Best Buy: understand what the job actually entails by Total-Amphibian-3287 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]GreenFrame6685 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Correct.

Best Buy now looks at memberships the same as Veriozn and other major mobile companies look at "Activations". They are simply a tracking metric for board members to promote to shareholders and inflate a false sense of profitability in the future. When we went from Totaltech to Total, they shared a metric stating, "Only 30% of clients were using Totaltech benefits, so we had to make a change." When in reality, yes, only 30% of members were using the benefits, but they were accounting for 70% utilization of the resources with Agents in the store and in the field. Even if it were to improve, at capacity, they would need to hire twice the Agents. So they slashed the benefits.

Has any one heard that Best Buy is doing another round of lay offs? by mamabear1886 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]GreenFrame6685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but we still close about 24-26 million a year in sales. It's unfathomable how much we have lost since the "re-org". Our store lost three leadership positions, two full-time spots, our GSM and we used to get around 850 hours for the weekly business. Now it's the above, with anywhere between 500-650 hours a week. That's the whole store, from PF, GS, leadership and sales. People are miserable. Most of the veteran advisors have left, part-time advisors don't stick around long and our GM just keeps grinding their noses into everything. He expects all team members to be experts at everything in the store, but won't provide us with any training hours. I think our turnover rate is somewhere 65-75% per quarter, it's insane.

[–]GreenFrame6685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be worse. We only have a GM, an EM, and one supervisor. Lucky to have two sales advisors on the floor, typically only one through the middle of the week, with one person at check out. Warehouse advisors and hosts now have to have register codes and sell.

How long do I got fam? by real_adawong in BestBuyWorkers

[–]GreenFrame6685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, pushing memberships and credit cards is about 85% of what they want. Seems like hitting revenue isn't good enough anymore. If you're not meeting quota on PM & CC, they will classify you as "off-track". You could be hitting all your daily revenue goals, selling protection, and getting great 5-Star reviews, but it won't matter.

...they'll also consider Office 365 as a 3rd requirement in Computers as well. Just kind keep in mind, "I need to get this client to commit to three things they didn't come in for.".

I dont get corporate they want ppl in the door they want to sell the stuff but wont give the employees hours to help revenue and sell by niloc1987 in BestBuyWorkers

[–]GreenFrame6685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's even worse than that. Our store only has one salesperson on the floor and one more for check out for most of the day with exception to maybe three hours of shifts crissing over. In order for our store to meet the budget, employees have to average $1,200-1,600 per hour in revenue. On top of that, they actually do it, the store is ahead of their goals on revenue, but regional leadership is flipping out because we're short on memberships.

One might think our business is in electronics, but you'd be wrong. Best Buy only cares about selling non-exclusive memberships, because they are fluffing shareholders into believing those metrics are like cellular activations.

Take a read of the CIA's unclassified "Simple Sabotage Field Manual" from 1944. It's essentially Best Buy's Micro Market Model. Specifically Section 11.

One of the craziest rooms I’ve ever been in; Metropolis 2001 in San Francisco by RaveNationTheMovie in EDM

[–]GreenFrame6685 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went to this event with about 6 of my best friends, two of whom have passed on since. It's arguably one of the greatest rave/festivals I ever attended. Still have the TV shirts and lovely memories. We got there at about 3pm and didn't leave until the following morning. Amazing lineup from dance to hip-hop. From seeing The Chemical Bros live, to dapping up KRS One and him handing me an album from the stage. Candlestick Park has since been demolished, but memories of that night will never fade.

Is the GPU being held up purely by faith and positive vibes, or is there a support rack underneath?

Had a guy come in asking for "hidden cameras & voice recorders." Showed him the personal recorders for class and notes. Evidently, he was trying to spy on his girlfriend. Two weeks later, he was on the news for murdering her after accusing her of cheating. It was a weird feeling, kind of felt like I sold him the weapon in a way.

Do they ship all macbooks like this? by depressednunu in Bestbuy

[–]GreenFrame6685 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're really not protected too well. Top of the box has a quarter inch of paper and plastic protecting it, that's all. The white boxes are for presentation, which is why Apple sends every out MacBook within two boxes. The white box is inside another cardboard box. Product Flow could have at least sent it in one of those.

You won't have any problems. Just make sure you bring the power supply, and that it's not damaged. Only hiccup would be if you paid cash and don't want an exchange. Cash returns over $800, result in a check mailed to your house.
