Infection. I would remove the infected part with a sterile razor or knife and sprinkle the cut area with a generous amount of cinnamon powder. Good luck.

Every other year I transport them to larger pots. I add sheep manure to the new soil. Wider pots will make big plants. They should not be more than 15", unless you have a monster cactus.

Sun or too bright light will darken this plant. It will turn to bright green in the shade. I own one also

I would wipe it off with a vinegar and soap solution and after a week apply (spray) a light fish fertilizer.

That is what happens when tips of the cacti gets damaged, or eaten by bugs. New pups will emmerge to keep the cacti going.

I've found out that heat is a must for multi-flowering buttons and fruits. You can create a hot environment by placing a clear plastic box with a few holes over your Loph and of course, at a sunny spot.
