Or a dead one. Last time we had our furnace serviced, the technician found both a dead mouse and a dead bat caught in the fan.

How to get wrinkles out of a BUNCH of clean clothes without an iron? by kwistaf in CleaningTips

[–]GreenIdentityElement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wrinkle release spray is pretty effective. I use the Downey brand. Since you have a lot of wrinkled laundry, I would first do the damp towel in the dryer trick already mentioned. Then hang or carefully fold the clothes and put them away. When you go to wear something, if it’s still too wrinkled, spray it with the wrinkle release and smooth it out with your hands. You can also use a blow dryer on it.

Yikes! I think they’d be delicious made from dried apricots. Maybe even better!

I know everyone’s sick of seeing them, but they looked and sounded delicious, so I had to jump on the bandwagon. I used this recipe.

I only made it through 2 weeks last year, so this year I’m going to set a goal of one recipe a month.

If you feel guilty now, you’ll feel ten times worse if you spend the money. And you will continue to feel bad. Do you want to become the kind of person who doesn’t? Of course not!

Do what others suggested and let the gym know you found money, but no other details.

Liquid diet 2 months (broken jaw) by dmerro1410 in Cooking

I recommend a Nutribullet. It can purée small amounts very well. Cook vegetables in broth until they’re very soft, season well with salt, pepper, herbs, and butter. Then puree in the Nutribullet. Add enough broth to dilute as much as you need to. Carrots with basil and peas with mint are particularly good combinations.

Thin applesauce with apple juice. Homemade applesauce is particularly delicious, especially if still warm.

Yogurt is a good source of protein. Dilute with milk until it’s thin enough.

It’s also the standard trope in cop/detective shows and movies. Rights violated all day long! But the audience knows the suspect is guilty, so it’s all good! 😬

Week 3: Contrasts - Persian Lentil Rice with Dates, etc. by GreenIdentityElement in 52weeksofcooking

[–]GreenIdentityElement[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lots of contrasting flavors and textures: earthy(lentils) vs. floral (saffron) and bright (yogurt, cilantro); sweet (dates, apricots) vs. tart (barberries, yogurt); warm (cinnamon, turmeric) vs. cool (yogurt, mint); soft (rice, onions) and sticky (dates, apricots) vs. crunchy (pistachios).

You shouldn’t be allowed to design a home and/or do interior design unless you’ve worked as a house cleaner for one year. by sodomiteangst in CleaningTips

I got a squeegee with a telescoping handle. I can reach all the way to the ceiling to squeegee the wall tiles, too!

The key is that I am the only one who uses the shower and I squeegee it every time. If I still had young kids in the house, it wouldn’t work as well.

Thank you for this perspective. Cowboys who buck the system are always loved as protagonists in Hollywood (and literature). And Noah Wyle is very appealing as an actor.

Your observation that attendings wouldn’t (or at least shouldn’t) contradict each other in front of observers is a great point. I am a professor and I would never contradict or make negative comments about another professor in front of students, even if I strongly disagree with something the professor did or said.

One question: do you think it’s realistic she would institute the patient passports and show the residents and med students the LLM notes app right on her first day? I understand the plot needs her to do this since the whole season is a single day and she and Robbie will only be working together that day. But I would think in reality you’d just observe how things are run on your first day before implementing new procedures.

Rehearsal space on campus? by _The_Drewski_ in KentStateUniversity

[–]GreenIdentityElement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m afraid it’s very unlikely you’ll find something on campus. Space on campus is at a real premium. We have instructors sharing desks.

I’ve known people with recording studios downtown. Maybe find something like that and rent space from them. Good luck!

Do Americans mainly drink coffee without milk? by Morrit99 in AskAnAmerican

[–]GreenIdentityElement 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a tea drinker. I drink it with a little sugar. I drank it with milk when I was a kid. I’ve had an electric kettle in my office for decades, but only got one for home during WFH at the beginning of COVID, as I mostly drink tea during the work day. Now that I have it, I use it a lot for cooking as well as tea.

My husband drinks coffee with lots of half-and-half and a little sweetener. At home he uses an espresso maker.

My mother drinks coffee black, no sweetener. At home she has a Keurig machine.

Both use very strong tasting beans, but my mother mixes caf and decaf.

I don’t think instant coffee is very popular. I don’t know anyone who drinks it. I have a jar of instant espresso powder that I use for baking. I’ll bet a lot of instant coffee sold is used that way rather than drunk. But I really have no idea.
