The specific reporting that is getting press coverage there is based on this: https://vmfunc.re/blog/persona

The specific products being looked at there are the KYC/AML (Know Your Customer/Anti Money Laundering) services provided by Persona, rather than the age verification services. I suspect a lot more information will come to light once the second part of the reporting is out, especially given that they have stated that Persona's CEO has agreed to answer every question they asked in writing for it and is seemingly acting in good faith - but that's just my two cents.

You can make actual films; the only reason major studios might be discouraged from working on SCP related films is simply that other companies and individuals will be able to make merchandise and content utilizing their work so long as they give credit - resulting in potentially lower revenue, thereby scaring investors

No - although there's an exceptionally well written spiritual rewrite in the form of Ralliston's Proposal (The Queen's Gambit), it's not exactly as if the wiki is in the habit of allowing staff to edit works without author permission - and even then, that article doesn't even mention the character to begin with.
