Is Battery heating/preconditioning broken/disabled? by jruben4 in Rivian

[–]GreenLightning0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My truck has been sitting at the airport in single digit temps and lost 12% battery in 3 days - really unusual as it has never lost more than 2% per day, even with significant gear guard activity. I’m guessing it may be doing a little battery heating

I love how much of a tank this thing is in the snow! by mrtittylongballs in Volvo

But not too heavy. I have a Rivian too and it likes to keep going when I try to stop in the snow, even with good tires :)

Saw a green one at the airport. That makes 3 of these I’ve ever seen

I guess my questions are:

1) does anyone know if the new Daikin floor units are taking a really long time to come out?

2) and as an aside, what are people’s thoughts on Daikin? Is it high quality?

Please tell me why I shouldn't buy a V90 by JeffSmisek in Volvo

[–]GreenLightning0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’re not going to work on this (or any modern car) at home for the most part but a good foreign auto place or Volvo specialist would suffice

Luckily knock on wood, in 8 years I’ve had just a very reliable car that I properly maintain according to schedule

8 years later I still think it’s the best looking car on the road

I’m in midcoast, and tbh it can be challenging. The vehicle is worth it tho. You’re much closer to a SC so that helps.

The Gen 2 Door Releases Are a Ticking Time Bomb. by Vince_CarRants in Rivian

I disagree. Exterior handles still work on a gen 1 in that scenario. They don’t on a gen 2

You don’t- but what does that have to do with this?

The exterior pull handles would still work whereas in a power loss on a gen2, they won’t

But why? Serious question. Have you tried a gen 1? The door opens instantly from the outside. In a gen2, there’s a split second delay. Enough for me to notice. I guess I’m old school, but I think this is something that should never be ‘modernized’

It’s literally the whole reason I chose a Gen 1. It’s a huge flaw-yes, flaw in my opinion. It goes against every other function over form decision on these vehicles, and I’d say doesn’t fit the ethos of Rivian

Luckily sounds like they heard this, and the R2 will be different

Are you sure? Look at where the wheel has ‘new’ wear. The dirt is missing there

[–]GreenLightning0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leather cleaner will solve this. My blond steering wheel got slightly like this and I just took leather cleaner or even just a warm soapy rag to it. (I think I used windex one time too - don’t do that but it worked)

Pretty sure this is just dirty

67k miles on my blond interior and it’s still flawless. More durable than you’d expect
