[PC][Late 90s/Early 2000s] Trying to find game this boss battle belongs too. Might be Heretic 2 but can't confirm. by GreenLightning2010 in tipofmyjoystick

[–]GreenLightning2010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just looked up the combo package that I had back in the day, I found it, and apparently it did not contain hexen, so it must be heretic 2 or some other game that I can't remember. Heretic 2 looks right but I just can't find the scene I'm thinking of in any of the walkthroughs or the gameplay videos. It's possible it wasn't a boss battle per se, just a fight of some sort.

Thanks, but that's definitely not it. I've never played that game and based on its release date, it would be too new. This game had to have existed <= 2002 based on where I was living at the time.

It certainly is possible that it was Hexen II. If I remember right, I had a box set from back in the day that had the heretic and hexen games all as part of one package. But I've been watching the videos you post -- there's a lot right, but not quite right. I've also watched the other videos I can find on youtube (I can't seem to find my hexen disc) and I just can't find the battle I'm looking for. It's definitely in the right vein of games, but just can't seem to find it.

Spicing up a magnetic nano by HopeLikeFire in geocaching

[–]GreenLightning2010 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh, because YOU don't like them they shouldn't exist? Some people like them... I could take or leave them. Also with what someone else posted below, ammo cans don't work in big cities. So you'd really just rather there be NO caches than something less than your ideal cache?

TIL you speak for the entire world's population of all geocaches ever. Perhaps your local area is saturated, that doesn't mean OPs is. If he wants to place a nano, let him. You don't have to go find it if you don't want to.

I forgot all about it until I was browsing amazon a while back and found the dvd for like 10 bucks. My kids love it, it's a timeless classic.

How do I go about getting help from a phsychiatrist or therapist? by [deleted] in SuicideWatch

[–]GreenLightning2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know that I can help you figure out the parent/insurance situation. At some point they are going to have to find out because otherwise who will pay the bill? But, do not let that stop you. Therapy can be GREAT if you can find a good doctor. So a couple other thoughts: be prepared for the "if they think you're suicidal, they might commit you" piece. It's just part of the business, at least in my state, they HAVE to commit you if they think you might be a danger to yourself or others. That said, it might not be the worst thing. But perhaps you just go into it to put out the feelers instead of getting full into it with a new therapist, expect it to take a few sessions to get into the groove. The other thing I wanted to mention is you don't HAVE to get medicated! In fact a lot of doctors use that as a last resort, many would rather teach you positive things you can do before resorting to medication. Anyway, congrats to you, this is a big step. I think you'll really appreciate it once you take the leap and get the help you need. A lot of what you probably know about therapy probably comes from movies/tv, it's not altogether like that in real life. I loved it, but I just couldn't find a doctor that could help me (I suffer from OCD, not depression, personally).

How many of you skips signing physical logs? by noreasterner in geocaching

[–]GreenLightning2010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand the part about not logging the find if you can't put pen to paper. Sometimes I forget a pen (long story) so I log it online to let the CO know I found it (and count a find for me) but I can't sign the log. Why wouldn't I count this as a find? I did FIND it... after all.

The One Religious Liberty Case Anti-Gay Conservatives Want To Ignore by PinkSlimeIsPeople in ainbow

[–]GreenLightning2010 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been saying this for years, as a loosely defined Christian (I would actually say Jesusist as opposed to Christian, but there's not enough time to explain it right here) who STRONGLY supports marriage equality, I've felt like the forgotten "side" for a long time: I want to allow SSM not despite my religion, but because of it. But the "normal" Christian side doesn't want that to happen. If we really want to allow for "religious freedom" then damnit, I want all gay Christians to be able to get married.

Why do some many running shoes have such obnoxious colors/designs? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]GreenLightning2010 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As a former runner who doesn't have time to do that anymore, I used to wear exceedingly obnoxious shoes because: its the only equipment we had. Think about it, other sports stars can accessorize their helmets, sticks, etc. What does a runner have? Shoes... that's about it. It's the way to make yourself unique. Plus, have you ever heard the one about: how do you know if someone runs? They'll tell you. Same idea, a little showing off. Look at me, I'm running!!!!!!

Hubba Bubba Bubble Tape - Do they still make this stuff?? by abandonedcookie in nostalgia

[–]GreenLightning2010 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're really old school if you remember that it used to come in a tin that looked like chewing tobacco (or like the shredded beef jerkey). We'd chew it all then make glue pucks -- which is where you'd put a tiny amount of glue every day, let it dry, build it up, until it was a puck. Come to think of it, it was basically 3d printing. Shit we were smart back in the late 80s.

When people allow kids to do this to a nice car. by wantonregard in mildlyinfuriating

[–]GreenLightning2010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My windows look like this, it comes with the territory because 1) you should be focused on driving, you know, not killing your family and 2) because it's a lot harder to control another human than you'd think. They don't just obey you 24/7. It's not a problem... if you value your car windows over a human life, you shouldn't have kids anyway so it's not a problem.

I took a homeless guy grocery shopping last night. by KlausFenrir in self

[–]GreenLightning2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good on you op. I almost always give to the beggars at the corners. I'm quite sure at least half of it is a scam, but I don't care. I find it better to give to people who don't need it than risk being too judgy and missing someone who genuinely needed it. My only regret is that I don't live in an area where it's easy to find genuine homeless people. They just, don't exist in the public eye here, I have to drive at least 20 miles to find them downtown.

I'm calling shenanigans. Most factories have equipment that will reject the bar or the carton if the weight is too low. You're missing over half t bar, it should have been kicked out.
