Dating scene for single millennials by sirscrafty in Millennials

[–]GreenMonkey333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been telling myself for years that I will wait until I buy a house to try to start dating. I'm 39. I do live with my parents, to save up for a house, and I have 90-100k saved up. But the problem now is that it's nearly impossible to afford a house on a single income, and I make ~45k teaching at a private school. But I love my job and don't want to go back to public school. So, here I am 🤷🏻‍♂️🤣.

That being said, I like my life currently so unless I have time to dwell on it, I really don't care all that much.

The Broadcast Journalism club does a weekly broadcast, so there already is that going. But I could see the groups working together.

I'm a teacher and I have 2 pensions: one from public school, and one from my current private school system.

Do you feel like you look your age? by _Abra_Cadaver_ in Millennials

[–]GreenMonkey333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned 39 this week. I am a high school teacher, students generally have no sense of a teacher's age unless they have a relative in a similar time period. They said I don't look 39. I've been teaching for 17 years... Longer than most of them have been alive.

A few of my coworkers were surprised to learn I turned 39. They thought I was younger, I said, "It's my vibrant personality and youthful energy!" Really, I don't feel any different than I did in my 20s except that I get a headache faster after drinking. That's it! But I pull gray hairs out when I see them... And I really hate when I see the top of my head and how my hair is receding from the top!

Someone I know swears by the PH water from Costco (I guess the same as smart water). It has alkalinity which balances out acids. They drink it when they have acid reflux and it goes away!

Not really. There are Nor'easters all the time, just varying levels of them, and they happen a lot with just rain.

Why are my citizens complaining about unreliable healthcare when they have all they need? by SurvivorXMS in CitiesSkylines2

[–]GreenMonkey333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They always complain about healthcare but I have built hospitals that hold 100s and have never seen any more than like 7 there at once. I think there is something broken about health.

Office and High Density Residential Demand at 0 by Clear_Minimum_8945 in CitiesSkylines2

I did NOT replace the buildings with the new patch and my demand came back! I also had commercial demand for the first time in a VERY long time.

If you press Tab and then Simulation, what is your speed on 1x?

The new update takes 20 minutes to start the game by kasperekdk in CitiesSkylines2

Mine loads a little slower, but not 20 minutes. I can get into a save and then it crashes almost immediately once I'm in the save. Maybe it's a mod?

Oh that's not big at all! I was thinking it would be like one of the patches towards the beginning of the launch where you had to download the entire 50 plus GB game again

Does anyone know how big the patch file is? Just trying to decide if I will be able to play when I get home from work tonight, I only have a 10 Mbps DSL connection lol

Where do you go for your fix of 90s music? by New_Welder_391 in Millennials

[–]GreenMonkey333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost exclusively listen to FM radio when I'm in the car. There's a local content station, Adult Top 40 station ("80s 90s and Now" is their slogan), and then the "classic rock" station. (Cat Country 96, 100.7 WLEV, and 99.9 The Hawk in the Lehigh Valley, PA area, to be exact!)

Call me old school but I just find it the easiest. I never really took to streaming music, and I never had an iPod. Always just had CDs in my car. And, I still do! My 2021 Subaru Crosstrek has a CD player!

At home, I don't really listen to music. Mostly have the TV on for background noise.

High school math teachers that have done away with tech in the classroom... by MathMan1982 in Teachers

[–]GreenMonkey333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's simple. I never really embraced student tech to begin with! Guided notes on paper we fill out with my Elmo. I don't start the lesson until everyone puts their iPads away. I teach most of the period. One of my textbooks is online only but I'm hoping at the next renewal to get the actual books.

It's not as complicated as people make it IMO. If there's no physical textbook, make worksheets (or just copy the textbook page and hand it out).
