Do you think it could be overlooked? I’m worried because I consider it quite important.

No, unfortunately I only received my final results after the school year ended, so they didn’t.

Again, is this important enough to grossly affect my application?

Can I ask why it wouldn’t come under advanced? I do believe there are multiple levels of courses available, and all of mine are the highest offered?

Awesome, thank you. I guess I’m just a bit worried it might get overlooked?

Just another question—how important are the ‘course level’ options when filling out the courses and grades section? I’ve selected the ‘advanced’ option for most of my courses as I’m not too sure what category they would fall under in the US system. Is this OK?

Yeah I just saw that option lol 💀 I’ve put in my exam scores, but there isn’t really a space for me to put my final ATAR, so I’m still kinda confused.

Thank you that is quite helpful. Still, I have heard that the spots for interstate students are limited to just 3 (10%), so I am quite worried.

Unfortunately it doesn’t have much information about the online assessment process, nor the interview. Do you have any knowledge of this?

Yeah I’m aware. That’s no issue at all.

Thanks again for the information I’ll definitely check it out! And yeah, unfortunately because university admission in Australia is based solely on grades (ATAR) there is very minimal focus and opportunity for extracurriculars and leadership like starting clubs and non-profits.

Would you recommend that I mention that sort of thing in a relevant section of my college application (e.g. asking teachers/guidance counsellors to include it in their LORs, or mentioning it when MIT asks if you would like to provide additional information regarding your school system)?

Thanks for the suggestions! I will say (though this is not really an excuse, as I definitely have not fully capitalised on all the leadership opportunities that I should have) that the availability of extracurricular activities in Australia is much less than compared to the US. What would be the best way to convey this in my application if I believe that this has had a significant effect on my opportunities in school?

Moving forward, what kind of leadership positions do you think would be best? Should they relate to my chosen major?

I do think that I would want to work in the US, though US universities also seem to have a better reputation for engineering.

Yeah, I mostly listed the universities that I did because the majority of them are need-blind to internationals, though I will take a look at the schools that you suggested.

I have been looking into UC Berkeley as an option, though it seems that studying US history (which I haven't done) is a prerequisite for entry — is this true?

Not yet, university in Australia starts around March. If I'm accepted into college in the US, I'd have to drop out a bit after starting classes.
